Cassius was about to glance at the system notifications he received for saving mphis, but before he got the chance, she spoke up, mumbling:
"Y-You can let down now…" She wiggled and squird in his lap. She wasn't the least bit uncomfortable—at least not physically—but sothing weird was ssing with her insides, causing her to experience mild discomfort.
"Ahh, yes," said Cassius, seemingly calm about the whole ordeal.
He gently laid her on the seat beside him, then took the opportunity to ask, "Do you have any family that I could help you get into contact with…?"
Realization dawned upon mphis as reality washed over her embarrassnt. A lot of color drained from her otherwise beautiful face; she clenched her fists while looking down at her feet.
"...I have an uncle who lives a few towns over, but… but I really don't want to contact him… And I would like to stay in Hoshito High if at all possible… I-I really don't know what to do…"
Cassius's brows furrowed in understanding. He could sense more to her aversion to her uncle than sothing rely childish. Moreover, he sympathized with her wanting to stay in the school district she had been in her whole life, even though she knew it was inconvenient to hold on.
Yet, none of that made this situation any less convoluted…
Feeling the complicated aura perating around them, Cassius sighed. He snuggled his hand into her hair, causing her nerves to loosen up trendously. "Don't worry. From now on, you will be staying with . Only if you want to, of course."
mphis's eyes brightened with genuine joy. "Do you truly an that?? I can stay with you!?"
Cassius nearly fell off the bench from how far he had to lean away from the girl who seed far too excited about this information.
"Ahh… I-I'm sorry…!"
Continue your saga on empire
Upon realizing how brazen she was acting, mphis returned to her spot, once again falling silent. However, contrary to last ti, the silence was very peaceful, as she repeated his words over and over again in her mind.
Small illusory flowers seed to bounce off her head; she was practically overflowing with gratefulness and a sweetness that was almost sickening.
Cassius instantly understood that there was no turning back on what he said—not unless he wanted to anger so god above.
'Well, not that I was planning on reneging on my proposal to begin with… Though, I will still require Sasha's permission…'
'Until I can figure out a way to purchase her so housing of her own, I will need to sohow smooth things over…'
Then, as if to reward him for a good deed while expecting nothing in return, the Idle Evolution System notified him of a few things.
*Ding!*
{[Side Quest - Main Quest 2]}
[Reward 1: Slightly less disdain from the Idle Evolution System] – [Y/N]
[Reward 2: 5 AP] – [Y/N]
[Reward 3: The gratitude of a pretty girl who is about to awaken as an S-Rank Awakener] - (Don't make this weird…)] – [Y/N]
As soon as Cassius saw these screens appear in front of him, he clicked accept on the first silly reward, then accepted the second one. And lastly, he accepted the final one, though that one didn't actually do anything—or, at least, that was what he originally assud.
{[mphis: 16 y/o]} – [Affection: 55]
"???"
He was extrely perplexed by what he was seeing, but as soone who considered himself to be pretty adaptive, he made his speculations about what this screen could entail. Then, as if to assist him in reaching a conclusion, another few screens expanded around the first one.
BLING!
{[Partial 5th Idle Benefit]} – [Given due to the Host being relatively close with five or more girls.]
[Girls (Familiar (10-25) - Close (26-50) - Affectionate (51-80) - Extrely Affectionate (81-95) - Obsessed (96-99) - Out for Blood (100):]
[Trolling any Girls with at least a Familiar relationship status will allot the Host more AP than usual, with that bonus being greater the better the relationship status.]
{[mphis: 55]}
{[Aya: 73]}
{[Grace: 75]}
{[Sasha: 43]}
{[Corra: 18]}
{[Bella: 100]}
Cassius's expression remained rather neutral as he read through the details of this sneak peek of the Idle Benefit that would co after his next one. That was until his eyes fell on the affection rating of his coworker and one of the most popular girls at his school. He couldn't take his gaze away from the number and na as he tried his best to quantify what the hell he was looking at.
'Why would the girl who forces herself to be friendly around have an affection rating of 100???' Cassius thought in pure bewildernt. 'Is this thing bugged or sothing…??'
Noticing the confusion present on his sculpted face, mphis asked, "Is sothing the matter? If you're having second thoughts about letting stay at your place, then… then I understand—" But before she could finish that gloomy statent, Cassius cut her off, saying:
"It's nothing like that. I was simply mulling over sothing that seems far too silly… Ha… How ridiculous…"
mphis's curiosity piqued as her ears perked up. "...This sothing… Do you mind telling about it…?"
"Ahh… Hmm, I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell ya," replied Cassius. "What if there was this person you thought you only knew as an acquaintance. Yet, a very reliable source told you differently. In fact, this source stated that the person would quite literally kill for you!" He described with a bit of dramatic pause. "Now, tell : how would you take this information?"
"Well…" mphis seriously thought over the matter, which made her appear earnestly adorable. Suddenly, her eyes flashed with inspiration as she said, "This person must be insane! After all, if you were left under the assumption that you weren't even friends but re acquaintances, yet this person felt so passionately about your relationship to kill for you, then… Then that person must be clinically insane!"
A starry-eyed girl hanging upside down in a spooky mansion blew an unnaturally loud sneeze. Frustrated over not being able to spend more ti with her husband, she grumbled in annoyance while wiping her cute nose.
