"Hwah!"

Jolting forward from a state of unconsciousness, Cassius’s mind churned at maximum capacity.

"Did I... survive...?"

"Hehe, yes, you did indeed make it out of that lake in one piece," Idle appeared out of nowhere and said. "But just look at where you are, Dear Host of mine."

"???"

Cassius only now took the ti to survey his surroundings. It was while learning that he was suspended atop a floating stone pillar anchored to a pit of darkness using huge chains that he also learned of his current inability to move.

"Idle... What exactly happened to ? How did I end up here and in chains??"

That’s right! He was essentially a prisoner now!

"Well, Host, while you were asleep, whole mobs of those pale, sharp-eared fellas waltzed on over and captured you. With the limited power I currently wield, I obviously couldn’t do anything to stop them, and so they took you here."

"...And where is here...?" Cassius asked, afraid to hear the answer.

"Hmm, what did they call it again? A-sothing... Alapai? Alcony?? No, I rember now—"

"Alcatraz."

DU–DUN!

In the Moon God Sect, there was a terrible place buried deep underground, rumored to be a little world in of itself. It was said that the Founder of the Moon God Sect, the Moon God himself, created this stretched space for the sole purpose of imprisoning the most heinous of criminals.

Rarely anyone ever ntioned this place anymore because of just how bad a cri you had to commit to be sent here, making Alcatraz sentences extrely uncommon. Even genocide was not normally enough to find yourself in this bottomless abyss, which was also partly to explain why this had been the first ti anyone was sentenced to eternity here in the last few centuries. It also made Cassius realize just how hated of a community the Humans were.

"You’re telling even the Elders and highest authoritative figures in this Sect were acting over the top when they figured out I was a human?" asked Cassius, inquiring from the only one around who saw everything go down.

Idle nodded, perching herself atop his right shoulder. "Originally, they called for your head. But after so heated back and forth between a few of the most powerful among them, they decided death or torture would be too rciful for you."

"Should I be thankful or indignant, hah..." Cassius sighed, simultaneously realizing sothing different about himself.

"Why do I feel so full of energy and strength?? I believe my vitality has also received a major boost as well," he mused, adjusting quite well to his unfortunate situation.

"Ah, I forgot to ntion sothing," Idle smacked her palm with her other hand. "You see, after the ’High Moon Council’ or whatever decided on your sentence, they also figured you’d die too quickly with how weak this body ford from Yggdrasil and the Ascension Tower is. Therefore, they gave you a wavy blue pill: the Supre Invigoration Pill I believe they called it. They seed quite reluctant to part with it, so it must be rather valuable, but all for the sake of ensuring you suffered down here for as long as possible, they forcefully fed it to you."

"And you couldn’t do anything to prevent that either I presu...?"

"No, I still retain the ability to nullify all harmful substances that attempt to invade your body. However, it was just the intentions of the pill users that were bad; the pill itself is extrely beneficial, especially for a cultivationless weakling like you," Idle retorted, adding a concealed insult at the end as revenge for him having absolutely no faith in her.

So silence followed.

Until Cassius eventually spoke once more, his voice filled with bitterness.

"...So, what do I do now...? Even though I feel a few tis stronger than I did when I first got here, these chains restricting my arms and legs are not ordinary," he said as he yanked on them, producing not even the slightest reaction from whatever magical tal went into constructing them.

The chains that bound him were constructed with a material commonly referred to as ’Mystic Steel’. With it, even Profound Realm existences would find it exceedingly difficult to break free, let alone Cassius, who wasn’t even as strong as a 1st Layer Body Refinent Realm cultivator.

As he was, he had no hope of ever escaping—and just like the Moon God Sect people hoped, he would die a very slow and very excruciating death.

"Heh, you underestimate once again, Host," Idle grinned, her mischievous beauty enough to dazzle any man. "Although the previous System configuration disappeared when you ascended from that lower reality, the core essence of my unparalleled existence is still here with !"

"Say," her grin widened. "How do you feel about picking up Attributes~?"

"...Picking up... Attributes...?"

There were so many things that happened in such quick fashion as of late that it took a good second for Cassius to recall the light novels of his first life. Of them, there were a decent number of them that featured sothing called "Attributes" and one way or another, these sphere-like loot drops would be absorbed by the Main Character to increase his power.

Was Idle talking about sothing similar to that concept?

"Lo and behold, my silly little mortal Host, for this is my mighty and irresistible power!"

Idle evilly cackled as she forced a brilliantly flashing blue screen to open up in front of Cassius. His eyes imdiately went wide when he observed what was on it.

BLING!

(Introductory Description: After the Idle Evolution System’s One True Host fused with the Tree of Yggdrasil and cosmic construct of a Lower Dinsion, the System received a major reboot. Its sentience fully awakened and it gained a half-physical, half-illusory form that could only be seen and touched by her Host. All of the System’s previous Functions and the culmination of her Host’s entire sacrificed existence were also directly converted into an all-powerful Bound Talent that embodied the future of Infinite Evolution—The Attribute Collector.)
