Rembering the stunning visage of her mother saddened May, making the air around her exude a sense of lancholy.
Looking down at her balled-up knuckles, tears began to bubble up in her big, beautiful eyes. "If only Mother were here right now… Then maybe… Maybe I wouldn't feel so alone…"
No!
She straightened up, that sa resolute gleam from before reappearing once more.
This was no ti to get lost in depression!
She resolved to escape the Castle and her Royal Duties once and for all—and she planned to follow through with her original intentions!
From that mont onward, May gradually began to change. Her timidness and sadness transford into the bowstring that would propel her to untold heights.
And as the years flew by, she advanced so far in her Body Refinent Cultivation that she one day returned to that lonely Castle atop a hill of fallen enemies—those who died in battle to secure that Castle's place.
The day an older version of May t her father, dozens of years after her disappearance, was the day she learned what he truly thought of her. A truth that left her colder and more despondent than ever.
"You were a mistake, and so too was marrying that whore mother of yours!"
"If only you were never born! Then the Rebellion that tore my Kingdom asunder never would've co to pass!"
"Why does an ungrateful wench like you even exist!? I waited until you were of age to sell you off, but I now regret being so considerate! A stupid bitch like you should've been sold and played with by noblen the very mont you were born!!"
"If only you were never born!"
"If only you were never…"
*Crack!*
"Haa!"
Waking up like a drawn sword, May nearly smashed her bed to bits. Drenched in sweat, she sat there, hands clutched against her scarred face.
"A nightmare…?" Her hoarse voice ca out as a whisper, with her breathing slowly but surely returning to normal. "Yes… The Rebellion ended 50 years ago… My father is long dead…"
Died by her hands.
Loosening her tense muscles, May got up out of her large bed and approached a body mirror. There, in the reflection, was a srizing woman who looked to be in her early twenties.
However, what she saw were a couple of deep black eye bags and a face that looked to be on the brink of falling apart altogether.
"What have I been doing wrong…?" she mumbled to herself, staring at her haggard appearance in the mirror. "Where did I go wrong? The singing of the birds, the warmth of the forest animals, Mother's embrace…"
She couldn't recall when she lost it all.
Now she was alone in the sa lonely Castle that she ran away from a century ago. She had no spouse, no children, no family.
Only she and the power she amassed over the years remained.
But what use was all that when you had nothing…?
"Your Majesty!"
The respectful voice of a kneeling female servant ca from the other side of the door to her room, prompting the naked Queen to leave her reverie.
"What is it, Hilda?" she asked as she swiped a nearby gown and slid it over her voluptuous figure before approaching the door. "Unless it's sothing important, it's best you don't disturb today."
"Your Majesty, a Grand Slayer is here to see you!" Hilda responded right away, so as not to anger the Queen any further. "He personally requested a eting with you!"
"Hmm?" May's eyebrows drew together. "A Grand Slayer? What would soone like that want with …?"
Slayers.
They were like Nightmare Slayers only in na—and in their professional inclination to hunt down that which the world does not want to look at. In the Infinite Character Developnt Dinsion, they hunted what needed to be hunted and did so for the Body Refinent Materials and the posted rewards attached to the kill.
In every world, there was always sothing that needed hunting. In this one, it was Demon Beasts.
"What is this Grand Slayer's na?" Queen May inquired as she opened her room's door to see a beautiful blonde woman kneeling outside it.
"Your Majesty," Hilda replied without looking up. "His na is…"
…
*Tap, Tap*
As Queen May walked the empty halls of her Castle, her thoughts continuously traced back to the na of that Grand Slayer. It seed to stick with her for so odd reason, making her all the more interested in seeing just what kind of person this important figure in the Slaying World was.
*Thwack!*
Opening a pair of large double doors with her outwardly manifested Body Energy, Queen May was imdiately greeted by the sight of a robed man leaning against a windowsill. Ti slowed to a crawl for May as she found herself montarily dazed by this unknown man's appearance.
Even still, the self-loathing qualities within her refused to acknowledge anything beyond a transaction happening between the two of them. Her cold eyes scanned him up and down, attempting to discern if he could be a trustworthy person or not.
One thing was for sure: he didn't look anything like how stories depicted the scary Grand Slayers to be.
He was more like an otherworldly Deity. Or a—
"Knight."
"???"
'I wasn't the one to say that! And it was a voice that rang inside my head!'
Queen May instantly put up her guard, activating all her Body Refinent defenses. She put quite a bit of distance between herself and the stupidly handso man staring her down with an apathetic expression.
"Who are you!?" May questioned with a frigid tone oozing murderous intent.
"Don't you know already?" Cassius asked as a warm smile ford. "Who I am?"
"Who you are! Who… you… are…"
May's murderous intent was replaced by a stinging headache that forced her to clutch her head. Pain surged within her, causing her to collapse to the ground with a deep grimace.
"You know who I am," said Cassius as he took slow steps toward her. "You just need to rember."
"You need to rember."
'Rember!?? What does that… Arghh!!!'
