"You're stuck here," said the Rainbow Serpent. "To be in an unfamiliar land surrounded by unfamiliar people, most of whom are stronger than you—I imagine it's like being lost at sea in the middle of a turbulent storm."
"You have seas in Protheus?" Cassius asked, brows raised. "I had heard from the Villagers that accompanied here that fresh water was scarce, not just for lack of rain but because there are so few river systems funneling from large sources of water. They made it sound like water was extrely few and far between."
"Oh, it is," said the Rainbow Serpent. "But there are seas and oceans, ones that stretch out for countless billions of miles. In fact, I myself was born in one of these oceans so…25 years ago."
"!?!?"
"You're only 25 years old!?" Cassius asked in disbelief. "Not to be rude, but sensing your unbelievable might had believing that you were an ancient entity."
"No, Cassius," the Rainbow Serpent said with a light-hearted laugh. "Not to toot my own horn, but I am what one could consider a genius. Furthermore, we Rainbow Serpents constantly secrete a Body Refinent Liquid—what the people of this Village call Body Liquid. We absorb and refine the elents in the atmosphere, convert it to Body Refinent Liquid, then repeat the process with the Liquid to beco stronger."
"Oh…" Cassius's expression twisted in embarrassnt upon recalling just what he planned to do with all the Body Liquid in the pond.
"But one thing I don't understand is how there seem to be people outside Bonecliff Village who're also on this Body Refinent Path," he continued, clearing his throat. "Assuming that you aren't permitting the Villagers to take your Body Liquid and sell it to outsiders, how are they progressing their Body Refinent Cultivation?"
"Hoho? If those silly Variant Humans were to do sothing like that, then I'd just have to devour them all," the Rainbow Serpent said with a wide, toothy grin. "I specifically told them only to use my Body Liquid among themselves and tell no one of it or my existence. But no, they wouldn't dare do sothing like that. However, there is a reason why intelligent beings and Mutants all over the world are capable of progressing their Body Refinent Cultivation."
Cassius was practically hanging off the edge of his seat in anticipation.
Luckily, the Rainbow Serpent was feeling magnanimous today. eting such an interesting little human who cos from beyond Protheus put her in a pleasant mood.
Continuing, she said, "What I'll tell you is that there are magical Herbs scattered all throughout the world. We call these Herbs 'Natural Treasures,' and they are what we consu to advance our Body Cultivation. Furthermore, there are different ways to consu them. The two most common ways are to either directly eat them or refine them into pills and get more bang for your…what was that phrase again? Ahh, bang for your buck."
"I see," Cassius said thoughtfully. "And to find these Natural Treasures, I assu I just have to wander around enough?"
The Rainbow Serpent nodded. "That is a very optimistic way to look at it, but yes, I suppose that thod is viable. However, doing that will only lead you to the occasional Low-rank Natural Treasures. Higher-rank Natural Treasures, such as my Body Refinent Liquid, are typically guarded by powerful entities. They can also be located in perilous areas—places that even Diamond Body organisms dare not tread."
"The higher the rank of the Natural Treasure, the more dangerous it'll be to obtain it," she added as a final touch, attempting to caution the young man. "Not every Natural Treasure Protector will be as welcoming as I am. They're likely to not possess any intelligence either, even if they're stronger than ."
Cassius rubbed his chin in intrigue. "You really must be quite the special gal," he said earnestly. "Your race is also sothing that tickles my curiosity to no end."
"I could say the sa for you," the Rainbow Serpent said with a fond chortle. "I co from a very prestigious lineage, yet I've never once heard of a world outside of our Protheus. I don't even know the limits of this seemingly limitless world, let alone there being sothing beyond it. Then again, I'm mostly positive that you weren't lying, which makes this revelation all the weirder."
"I'm not stupid enough to lie to soone so much stronger than I am," Cassius said casually, leaning his elbows against the boulder. 'Hey, you Bastard System, why does it sound like this Infinite Character Developnt Dinsion has already achieved its peak? I thought you said the world would start out small and then evolve over ti?'
*Ding!*
[You truly are a frog at the bottom of an endless well, Dear Host. If you honestly believe that a re trillion so miles is sothing impressive, then you have yet to reach your Character Developnt's maximum potential!]
[This Infinite Character Developnt Dinsion of yours is indeed in its infantile stages, but I never did say where I plucked this pri real estate up from! Hihi~]
[¬‿¬]
Cassius was stunned silent, confusing the Rainbow Serpent a little.
Was the human afraid of her or sothing? She didn't think so…
[Anyway,] said the Idle Evolution System, playful as ever. [This Infinite Character Developnt Dinsion was originally sothing I cut off and augnted from a certain Reality Plane with an unusual set of circumstances. This piece in particular had residents who were totally unaware of there being a world beyond their own. This was entirely due to their limited vision, for everything else in that Reality Plane had been very, very, very~ far away from 'Protheus.']
[Of course, as with everything, what the residents of Protheus considered to be far away was just a footstep distance on a magnified scale. As ironic as it might be, Protheus was like a tiny piece of dust on a forgotten shelf!]
[And I just snatched it up, with neither the others in the Reality Plane nor the people of Protheus having realized what happened! Lmao!]
'What exactly is so funny about that...?'
