Fort Commander Eisenburg smirked as he interlocked his fingers. "It seems to that you have this all thought out," he said. "Were you so sure that I'd offer you an additional reward?"

"I was not," Cassius answered truthfully. "But I had this on my bucket list, so I figured I'd throw it out with the opportunity you presented to ."

"Smart," Eisenburg said. "And luckily for you, your request is doable. But there will be no need to add placeholder mbers to your Platoon. Your Platoon also won't be marked on any ledgers or records; you'll be completing missions totally off the grid as a special unit. Will that be fine with you, Cadet Cassius?"

After a brief mont of surprise, Cassius nodded. "That is a better bargain than I could've hoped for," he said. "Thank you for this, Fort Commander, sir."

"No need for that," Eisenburg said with a dismissive wave. "You've earned this reward for bringing back such vital information. Oh, and Cadet, you'll no longer be staying within this Fort following the creation of Platoon 0. You will instead be stationed near sowhere very familiar to you—the Boundless Gorge. But that doesn't an your range of influence will be limited to that area, for you will also receive missions that take you all over the Mistalore Defense Nation, perhaps even beyond it—into the Endless Dark Mist."

"I understand," Cassius said, concealing the growing unease in his heart. 'The Boundless Gorge… That place again…'

It looked like destiny had a number of things in store for him. One of which wanted him to be close to the Boundless Gorge.

"Anyway," Fort Commander Eisenburg said, "you are dismissed. And here are the directions to your new place of residence in the Defense Nation. Feel free to make your way over there as soon as you finish up with whatever you plan to do with that friend of yours."

"Yes…" Cassius said, a bit confused by how easy this was going. "I'll go right away, sir. Thank you again."

"No problem," Eisenburg said while watching the young man vanish from his office along with the girl in his arms.

However, after a few seconds passed and Cassius was long gone, the Fort Commander's face started to twitch. His smile suddenly froze. Then, as if a ghost had left his body, he jerked forward, with a black misty substance shooting out of him and into the distance.

Eisenburg—rubbing his head—looked around in bewildernt. "H… How did I get here…?" he asked, clearly out of it. "What have I been doing?"

— anwhile, at a location thousands of miles away, near the entrance to the Boundless Gorge —

The black misty substance that left EastWing Fort appeared. It moved as if it had a mind of its own, and within seconds, it was racing through the depths of the Boundless Gorge. The black mist reached depths that even Cassius had not been able to make it to.

After a couple more minutes, the black mist reached the very end of the Boundless Gorge, doing so unimpeded by the terrifyingly powerful Nightmares inside the Gorge. It arrived at the huge gothic doors to the pitch-black chamber before passing through and encountering the shadowy terrors within.

Yet, the shadowy terrors did nothing to stop the black mist they all clearly noticed.

The black mist wandered around before locking in on a direction and dashing toward the only shadowy terror that hadn't made a single move at its arrival. This terror also didn't do anything to prevent the black mist from touching it and disappearing inside.

After a few monts, the hollowed eyes of the shadowy terror finally opened. The others—who were staring at it—made their voices known:

"Is it done? Is the Destined One returning to the Boundless Gorge?"

The question they all had seed to synchronize with one another.

"…Yes," said the shadowy terror that assimilated with the black mist. "That human who got a little too close to our prison ended up making for the perfect guide. With my Darkness Possession Technique, he guided the Destined One to sowhere near the Boundless Gorge. And if the Destined One is as destined as his fate dictates, then he'll undoubtedly re-enter the Boundless Gorge with it in such close proximity."

The shadowy terrors went silent, but in their hearts, they knew no greater happiness. Doubt had festered within them for the longest while when the Destined One didn't return, but now they could rest assured.

The Destined One would co back and descend the Boundless Gorge once more. Then they'd kill him and snatch his destiny for themselves.

The Forgotten Shores would soon beco a distant mory, and along with it, the cage that bound them all in worlds disillusioned from reality…

— In far-off dinsions, in the Hellish landscape of HELL's 1st Floor —

Within this charred world, there sat three colossal fiery castles. The castles each towered atop a sharp cliff, with each of the cliffs pointing toward one another in a triangle-like formation. Laying below them—tens of thousands of miles below—there resided a very large scorched city. Demons both big and small flew around and andered about this city. The strength of the demons varied, but all of them possessed savage glints in their abyssal gazes, with so having no intelligence to speak of.

The city—dubbed the City of Scafor—functioned not like a typical city. The city's citizens carried around weapons at all tis and often got into conflicts with one another, which was completely normal… and legal.

The city also had shops, restaurants, hubs, and sports, but for all of them, everything was especially barbaric.

Humans and the mbers of other races were seen put up for sale or being pushed around in chains by larger-bodied demons. None were treated well, and so of them would likely not live through the day, as they would either be executed or transported to the chopping block. Those going to the chopping block were set to be prepared and eaten by demons, their fates not pretty ones.
