— After two hours of continuous absorption —

OOOM!!

All of the darkness inside Cassius had been successfully converted into the essence needed to progress his Azura Refinent Physique.

When he first embarked on the progression journey of this particular Physique, he had to take the darkness and evenly spread it throughout his body. Once his body beca saturated to a certain point by the darkness, a breakthrough in the Physique would occur.

The Azura Refinent Physique was split into 12 levels. Each level not only improved one's Physique attributes—like strength, speed, and reaction speed—but each new level also magnified the lethality of the Azura Fla.

Once all of the darkness had been refined and circulated by Cassius, he rocketed straight up from the 1st Level to the 3rd, causing his physical prowess to spiral upward! He figured that even if he were to fight sothing like the Soul Eater, he would not be too far away from being evenly matched!

This was remarkable news for him. After all, with the upcoming expedition to HELL, he required all the power he could muster.

Just getting past the weakest of the Demon Kings would be more than hard enough, let alone what sort of insane strength he'd need to strong-arm his way through the Hellish dinsion…

There was also the Tournant of Yggdrasil, which would begin within the next couple of months. The amount of strength he'd need to best the greatest geniuses of the current generation across all Dinsions would be… astronomical…

A power level in the EX—the Transcendent Rank—was his short- to long-term goal. With that, he should be able to deal with most of his present problems.

But as the saying goes: lesser problems go away, then even worse problems appear.

Cassius wondered just how strong he'd have to be to finally be free of the constant threats to his life… Would any amount of strength ever be enough…?

"Best not to think about sothing so depressing," Cassius said with a sigh. "I should instead be figuring out how to escape this place. Should I just fly up? But what about that ti-space altering stuff?"

Figuring he'd just try things and see what happened, he sprang up like a broken coil. Countless air donuts were left in his wake as he shot up the way he ca in. Oddly enough, after an instant of travel, he crashed through the black temple's roof.

"Hmm," Cassius mused, looking back behind him. "It appears that either the Azura Fla, the Soul Eater, or the Azura Fla Bangles were the things affecting the temple's weird environnt. But with one dead and the other two now in my possession, the temple has beco an ordinary temple. Even the black tendrils surrounding the temple have disappeared."

He knew from the Soul Eater's mories that the black temple was sothing it found when it first arrived in this world. It was also sothing that always remained a mystery to it, as it would often teleport throughout the Shallow Crater and nearby territories, seemingly in search of sothing.

However, with the benefits of fresh at and souls being offered up on a silver platter, the Soul Eater felt no reason to question the temple's motives. It simply took advantage of the temple's constant traveling, finding a few snacks here and there to slightly satiate its insatiable hunger.

Of course, now the Soul Eater was gone, and soone far younger had spent a fraction of the ti to figure out the mysteries of the black temple—a feat it never bothered trying to accomplish.

"For an item and its power source to actively seek soone out," Cassius said, a keenness in his piercing gaze, "for what real reason would they feel the need to do sothing like that? And why had they chosen to show themselves to ? To even go so far as to guide into that temple?"

While zipping off into the distance—toward Fort EastWing—these questions lingered in his mind.

Yet, for the life of him, he couldn't figure out what exactly was so special about him that even items of the EX Rank wanted him…

Was it because of his Bloodlines? His lineage? His System…?

The last option seed the least likely, for even now, the System was an entity that far exceeded the power systems Cassius had co into contact with so far. It was at such a high level of both intelligence and functionality that nothing in existence seed to be out of its reach.

[Hoho~, praise more, Virgin Host! My unlimited power and irresistible charisma know no limits! I, the Idle Evolution System, truly am sothing to be awed and gawked at for billions of years to co!]

[♡]

[But don't worry, Host, even though I can have anyone that has, is, or will ever live, I chose you. Do you know why?]

Cassius really didn't want to know the answer to that question, but he felt that he didn't have much of a choice in the matter…

He heaved a heavy sigh and asked, "Why…?"

[It's because you were the biggest loser I could find, obviously!]

[Why? Did you think you were the special chosen one or sothing?? Nope! It was just that, out of the loser bum lot that I had on standby, I drew your na!]

Silence...

Cassius burst forward with a newfound level of speed, leaving his arrogant System in the backdrop.

[But don't worry, since I, the greatest of the great, have chosen you as my destined loser, I shall ensure that you shine the brightest out of all the world's losers—wait, where did you go!? Can a System not even finish its monologue anymore!?? Bah!]

The indignant Idle Evolution System emoticon teleported and found its way right back to Cassius's side, where it once again started a long rant about how aweso it was. It also made sure to rub Cassius's inferiority in his face, emphasizing how great an honor it was to be connected to it at such a profound level.

Cassius, of course, ignored 10 out of 10 words that left his System's mouth. His ti was used more wisely that way…
