Chapter 313: Space Monster

“And then there was darkness.”

Above the core of the world, a holographic screen displayed the scene as Tianling wielded the immortal treasure to blanket the entire world in darkness.

Xiang Yu spread his divine sense outward. Indeed, it was growing dark. In just a few seconds, the light had dimd considerably.

He sighed. Problems always had a way of finding him no matter what. Now the world was suddenly coming to an end.

He stretched out his hand, and a small orb of light materialized in his palm. With a casual wave, he sent the light ball away. It passed through the barrier around the cave and erged above the Azure Cloud Sect. There it hovered, casting a subtle glow over the sect grounds like a miniature sun.

He nodded to himself, satisfied. This should keep the disciples from panicking, at least for a while, before soone could explain what was happening.

Turning his attention back to the world core, Xiang Yu found Li Yao standing with her hand to her sword, ready to draw.

“Dammit, I knew that woman was up to no good,” Li Yao muttered.

“I should’ve killed her when I had the chance.” She shook her head and pressed her free hand to her forehead. “What was I thinking?”

She reached down to her waist and drew her sword.

“I see how it is now,” she said.

Xiang Yu slowly nodded his head. It seed she was resolved to fight for the world, as expected of the main character.

“I must kill all won,” Li Yao declared. “They’re too dangerous.”

“Wait, what? Where did you even get that idea from?” Xiang Yu spoke up, quickly grabbing onto her waist before she could storm off.

As he grabbed her, the world core finally turned its attention to him and suddenly jumped back, trembling violently.

the core scread out in terror as it backed away.

“A what now?” Xiang Yu asked, blinking in bewildernt.

He loosened his grip on Li Yao, who had cald down and was now taking advantage of the situation to snuggle closer against him.

The world core scrambled behind a nearby crystal formation, peeking out from around the corner with frightened eyes.

it pleaded desperately before breaking into loud, hiccupping sobs.

“Calm down, I’m not a space monster,” Xiang Yu spoke reassuringly. But the world core wasn’t listening to him at all and kept sobbing hysterically.

He frowned, wondering what kind of space monster it was referring to. Was it sensing his Void Fla soul?

Now that he thought about it, looking directly at the world core did stir sothing deep within him. He wondered if his species also fed on worlds. He quickly dismissed those thoughts and tried again to get the core to settle down.

“Just listen to for a mont,” he said, but the core still wasn’t paying attention. It kept crying loudly about how it had terrible RNG.

Xiang Yu’s eye twitched in irritation. What was wrong with this thing? It was really beginning to get under his nerves with all this crying every two seconds.

“Just calm down and explain what’s happening!” he spoke more loudly, but the world core continued its hysterical sobbing.

Xiang Yu’s form shifted and transford into his monster state. “Calm down right this instant or I’ll really have you for dinner!”

The mont those words left his mouth, the small world core imdiately stopped crying. It covered its mouth with its tiny hands, staring at him with terrified eyes.

Xiang Yu took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, forcing himself to calm down. He then returned to his normal appearance, though his irritation was still visible.

“Why are you always crying all the ti?” he asked. “How old are you?”

the core whispered in a small voice.

“Then why are you acting like a two-year-old?” Xiang Yu demanded.

[Actually, worlds have really slow developnt cycles, so technically, it’s indeed about two years old in human age,] the Empress explained.

He glanced toward the world core, but it quickly ducked back behind its hiding spot the mont their eyes t.

Li Yao shook her head. “Senior brother, you’re being too serious. You’re scaring the poor kid,” she said gently as she walked over toward the hiding core.

The world core looked up at her with sparkling, hopeful eyes as Li Yao knelt down and carefully picked it up in her arms. Its expression brightened considerably. As expected of the person she chose.

“I’ll save you,” Li Yao said seriously, her voice filled with determination.

The world core’s face lit up with joy and relief. Finally, soone who understood!

“Just give the coordinates of all the won in the world,” Li Yao continued with a bright smile.

“So what do we do to save the world?” Xiang Yu asked.

The world core was perched on Li Yao’s shoulder, still stealing fearful glances at Xiang Yu whenever it thought he wasn’t looking.

it began.

“The core? Isn’t that you?” Li Yao asked. “Why don’t you just hide? As long as they don’t get to you, then everything will be fine, right?”

the world said, blinking its large eyes in bewildernt.

Li Yao also heard a confused expression.

[The true core of the world is located at the very center of the planet and cannot move from that position,] the Empress explained.

[This little one here is more like an avatar.]

Xiang Yu nodded. “That makes sense,” he thought to himself. If this kid was the true core, how could the world have survived for so long.

“So the way to stop this is by destroying the five nodes?” he asked.

the world confird.

“Where are they?” Li Yao asked.

The world core waved one of its small hands, and suddenly a holographic map materialized before them.

“And what about the enemy?” Xiang Yu asked.

the core explained.
