Lu Jinyang lay there with his eyes open, staring at the ceiling, his gaze empty and unfocused.

Lu Zhiyuan showed a delighted expression, uncertainly calling out, "Jinyang?"

It took Lu Jinyang a while to turn his head towards him but, still, his eyes remained unfocused.

"Dad?"

He called out uncertainly.

"Ah!" Lu Zhiyuan discovered that this "Dad" sounded even more pleasant than the "Daddy" he said when he first learned to speak.

He discreetly wiped the corner of his eye and said with a smile, "It’s good that you’re awake, it’s good that you’re awake."

After the initial joy, Lu Zhiyuan thought to call the doctor and hurriedly pressed the call button. While waiting, he noticed sothing was amiss.

He realized, no matter what he did, Lu Jinyang didn’t have much of a reaction, even when talking to him, Lu Jinyang’s gaze wasn’t focused on him.

It was that sort of hollow gaze, like that of a blind person, void of focus.

A heavy blow struck Lu Zhiyuan’s heart. He tentatively reached his hand toward Lu Jinyang, moving it from above his head down to stop above his eyes.

Lu Jinyang still had no reaction.

At this mont, even if he were foolish, he would understand the severity of the situation.

Lu Jinyang couldn’t see!

When the doctor walked in, Lu Zhiyuan quietly stepped back, all the way to the door.

He didn’t have the courage to witness Lu Jinyang’s reaction to discovering his blindness.

He couldn’t even bring himself to tell Ye Han this news.

Ye Han woke up the second day after her coma, but the doctor suggested she should stay in bed and rest. He said to her, "The two children are fine; you need to recover quickly because you have to plan for their wedding."

Only then did Ye Han agree to cooperate.

Lu Zhiyuan stood at the doorway, hearing the doctor’s clear voice from inside the room, saying, "Mr. Lu, I think you might have noticed, your eyes are temporarily blind. As for how long, it depends on you."

The room fell silent for a while before Lu Jinyang’s voice was heard, "Okay, I understand."

He didn’t ask about Zhuang Shuqing’s condition.

After the doctor left, Lu Jinyang maintained his previous position.

Lu Zhiyuan walked back into the room, his footsteps very light, yet he still heard it.

"Dad," he said, "co here, I have sothing to ask you."

"...Okay."

Lu Zhiyuan sat down before Lu Jinyang began to speak.

"Dad, tell the truth, how is Shuqing doing?"

Fearing that Lu Zhiyuan wouldn’t tell him the truth, he added, "Don’t lie to ."

The room fell silent again before Lu Zhiyuan sighed.

"Shuqing is not in grave danger. She, like you, injured her head, but her situation is more severe and she hasn’t woken up yet. But don’t worry, she’s strong, and so is the child inside her..."

"What?!"

Lu Jinyang sat up abruptly, pulling at his wounds and gasping from the pain, but quickly ignoring the pain and asked anxiously, "A child? She’s pregnant?"

"You didn’t know?" Lu Zhiyuan was slightly surprised; he hadn’t expected his son to be unaware of this.

The expressions on Lu Jinyang’s face were rich with surprise, worry, fear, and even joy... and then all disappeared, his face returning to calmness.

"Dad, please call Li Yan over for ."

Lu Zhiyuan was a bit troubled, "Li Yan said he has contacted an overseas specialist who could help Shuqing wake up sooner, so right now he’s busy entertaining the specialist."
