Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Those People Still Pity Xu Jinzhi

They were heartbroken about Professor Xie’s plight, but without this money, many children would not survive.

So, now able to receive this sponsorship, the man was still very grateful. Although it felt sowhat shaless, as long as it helped more children, he accepted it.

After sending off the person in charge, Xu Jinzhi instructed Assistant Chen, “I rember Xie Yanchuan also sponsored an orphanage before, and there are other things I can’t quite recall. Could you help look into those?”

“After the investigation is clear, we can keep everything as usual.”

“Okay.” Assistant Chen nodded in agreent and then left the office.

~

A week later.

Today was the Lantern Festival, but it wasn’t a public holiday, and work was still required.

However, Xu Jinzhi did not go to the company today because he had to go register Tuantuan at the kindergarten; actually, soone at ho could have handled it.

But Xu Jinzhi went to the school himself. Human hearts are complicated; Xie Yanchuan was currently comatose, and in the eyes of others, Tuantuan was a child without a father.

So children would bully Tuantuan.

So Xu Jinzhi took Tuantuan to the kindergarten, those children might not understand, but it could show those parents how to educate their own children.

Don’t even think about bullying Tuantuan; otherwise, the consequences would be severe.

In fact, Xu Jinzhi did not know that at the end of the last sester, when he had Mrs. Liu Heng slap her son twice, this had made a deep impression on the parents.

They couldn’t afford to offend that revered Buddha, whether they were parents who truly cared about teaching their children or those who feared Xu Jinzhi might take action against their family.

In any case, they all instructed their children not to bully little Xie Zhihuai at the kindergarten.

After the registration was over, Xu Jinzhi took Tuantuan ho first, and then left the house again in the afternoon.

But Xu Jinzhi still did not go to the company; instead, he went to Qing’an Temple.

Since Xie Yanchuan’s accident, this was the fourth ti Xu Jinzhi had visited Qing’an Temple; aside from the first visit to listen to an old monk’s story, he would go there every first and fifteenth of the lunar month.

Today was the fifteenth, so Xu Jinzhi went again.

Xu Jinzhi knelt devoutly in front of the Buddha, praying that Buddha could hear her wishes, praying that Buddha could wake Xie Yanchuan up.

It was only when the sky gradually darkened that Xu Jinzhi left, as she had to attend a banquet that night.

Leaving Qing’an Temple, Xu Jinzhi went directly to her usual studio, and after getting ready, she went straight to the hotel hosting the banquet.

When Xu Jinzhi appeared in the banquet hall, many people turned their eyes toward her.

Although it had been over two months since Xie Yanchuan’s incident, people still felt a profound sense of regret when they saw Xu Jinzhi.

At the sa ti, they felt sorry for Xu Jinzhi, thinking how young she was to have lost her husband, with two children at ho, and what would happen in the future…

Xu Jinzhi, seemingly oblivious, walked straight ahead without a sideways glance.

The host of the banquet hastened to greet Xu Jinzhi when he saw her, obviously valuing her highly.

It imdiately contradicted those who just thought Xu Jinzhi pitiful.

Where did she, Xu Jinzhi, need anyone’s sympathy?

Before sympathizing with others, they should first feel sorry for themselves.

Xu Jinzhi smiled and socialized, and as ti slowly passed, she unconsciously drank quite a bit.

It was about ti to leave when suddenly Xu Jinzhi lost her balance and leaned to the side.

Xu Jinzhi’s heart skipped a beat, but the expected fall didn’t happen, as she was caught by soone.

When Xu Jinzhi ca to her senses, she saw that the person holding her was a man; for a mont, she thought she saw Xie Yanchuan.

But upon closer inspection, it was a stranger. Xu Jinzhi quickly stood up straight and stepped away from him.

The man looked at Xu Jinzhi with a worried face, “Mr. Xu, are you alright?”

Xu Jinzhi looked up at the man in front of her, first saying “Thank you,” then continued, “I’m fine.”

It was probably because she had knelt for over an hour this afternoon. Her knees were a bit sore, which was why she had lost her footing earlier.

The man wanted to say sothing more, but Xu Jinzhi did not give him a chance, turning and walking straight towards the hotel exit.

Xu Jinzhi didn’t notice that the man watched her for a long ti.

While Xu Jinzhi was on her way ho, she sat in the back seat, initially staring at the neon lights flashing by outside the window, but gradually she began to feel so stomach pain.

Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help but frown and placed her hand gently on her stomach, trying to ease the pain.

But it didn’t help at all; the pain worsened.

Xu Jinzhi’s complexion looked terrible, and she was starting to break out in a cold sweat.

Xu Jinzhi had intended to endure it, but halfway through, she couldn’t bear it any longer and weakly asked the driver, “Stop at a pharmacy, go get so stomach dicine.”

Initially thinking Mr. Xu had fallen asleep, the driver was startled when she suddenly asked for dicine and quickly asked, “Mr. Xu, are you feeling unwell?”

“Mm,” Xu Jinzhi mumbled.

The driver then said, “Then I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Xu Jinzhi, feeling miserable and not wanting to talk, also didn’t want to go to the hospital. She replied sowhat impatiently, “No need, just get so stomach dicine from a pharmacy.”

Sensing Xu Jinzhi’s impatience in her tone, the driver finally just followed her orders. Seeing a pharmacy, he hurriedly went inside to buy the dicine.

The driver quickly returned, and Xu Jinzhi hastily took the dicine.

Even after taking the dicine, there was no quick relief; Xu Jinzhi was still in great pain.

When she got ho, Xu Jinzhi checked on the already asleep Tuantuan and Sui Sui; she looked at Xie Yanchuan as well, then went straight to bed without even taking a bath.

She didn’t know how long she had been asleep; she was drowsy and finally, her furrowed brows slowly relaxed, probably because the pain in her stomach had eased.

Xu Jinzhi slept until past four in the morning when she woke up, recalling the events before, she dragged her weary body to take a bath.

But after bathing, when she lay down in bed again, she found herself completely unable to sleep.

Xu Jinzhi just lay there, staring at the ceiling, feeling sowhat irritable and couldn’t help but think about drinking.

It seed like having a drink would solve the worries and the insomnia.

But then Xu Jinzhi thought about her earlier stomach pain and the dicine she had taken; she couldn’t drink.
