Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Made for You by My Own Hands
After they separated, one of the middle-aged n, who looked slightly older, couldn’t help but look back. “Is that Mrs. Xie next to Professor Xie?”
The young man beside the middle-aged man nodded. “Yes.”
The middle-aged man nodded and walked a bit further, then couldn’t help asking, “Professor Xie hardly ever goes to the lab now. What do you think he ans by that?”
The younger man shrugged, a hint of barely noticeable jealousy flashing in his eyes. “Who knows.”
The middle-aged man sighed, “Actually, his capabilities are evident. I had no objections to him being appointed as the deputy director of the lab.”
This middle-aged man was the researcher who had defeated Xie Yanchuan during the election.
But in fact, he didn’t care; he even admired Professor Xie and would have had no complaints if he had lost to him.
But now that he had beco the deputy director and Professor Xie had stopped entering the lab altogether, the man felt it must be because of this.
The young man scoffed, “Why do you care so much? It’s a decision made by the institute’s leadership. If he has any complaints, he should go to them.”
“If it really cos to it, can’t he just set up his own lab?”
“He’s not without money.”
“Even if he doesn’t have it, doesn’t his wife still have so?”
“Have you forgotten about the experintal funds incident?”
What they discussed Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan were completely unaware of. Both returned to the office, and Xie Yanchuan left after putting down his things.
They quickly drove away from the university. It was already getting late, and after briefly discussing on the road, they settled on a hotpot restaurant.
Xu Jinzhi ntioned that the weather had gotten colder, perfect for hotpot.
Perhaps because the hotpot restaurant really had good flavor, even though it was just a weekday noon, there weren’t few people there.
They found a corner seat and began to order.
Xie Yanchuan said he was both picky and not picky about food—it mostly depended on who he was eating with.
If it was with Xu Jinzhi, even if it was poison, Xie Yanchuan would probably eat it without hesitation.
After they finished the hotpot and left, they had no particular plans and just walked along the road ahead.
It was getting quite cold outside. A sowhat artsy shop caught Xu Jinzhi’s attention, and she pulled Xie Yanchuan inside.
Once inside, they discovered it was a pottery shop. Only two staff mbers were inside, one of whom ca over to ask Xu Jinzhi.
“Just looking around,” Xu Jinzhi said.
The staff mber didn’t mind that Xu Jinzhi was just browsing and cheerily said, “Feel free to look around. These ceramic pieces are for sale; see if there’s anything you like.”
“If you want to try making sothing yourself, we can teach you here too.”
“Is it very difficult?” Xu Jinzhi asked curiously, completely clueless about pottery, not knowing how to start.
“If it’s your first ti, you can only make so simple things,” the clerk honestly replied.
Xie Yanchuan looked back at Xie Yanchuan, “Want to give it a try?”
Xu Jinzhi had already asked, clearly interested, so all Xie Yanchuan had to do was agree.
So, they quickly took off their coats, put on aprons, and followed the staff to the workshop area.
Since neither of them had any experience, Xu Jinzhi chose to make cups, not just for themselves but also for Tuantuan and Sui Sui.
But even making cups wasn’t as simple as Xu Jinzhi had imagined; as the shapes grew increasingly strange, she couldn’t help but start laughing.
Hearing Xu Jinzhi laugh, Xie Yanchuan turned his head and laughed as well.
Xu Jinzhi playfully asked, “I’m making this by hand for you, do you like it?”
“I like it,” Xie Yanchuan replied without hesitation.
Xu Jinzhi continued, “Then rember to use this cup for drinking water.”
Xu Jinzhi had already inquired; although it was ceramic, it could be used normally after firing.
“Okay,” Xie Yanchuan agreed without hesitation, not minding at all that it was a quirky cup.
As they shaped the cups, ti gradually passed, and by the ti the four cups were made, it had already turned dark outside.
But the cups were not yet finished; they still needed to be fired. The staff told them they could co to pick them up in three days.
Xu Jinzhi secured the receipt the staff gave her and left the shop with Xie Yanchuan.
The already cold winter day felt even colder with the night, making Xu Jinzhi involuntarily shrink her shoulders. Xie Yanchuan quickly reached out to wrap her shoulders.
“You wait here, I’ll go bring the car over to pick you up,” Xie Yanchuan said, as the wind outside was fierce, and Xu Jinzhi was afraid of the cold, worrying Xie Yanchuan she might catch a chill.
“No need, let’s go together,” Xu Jinzhi refused Xie Yanchuan and pulled him forward.
Xie Yanchuan had no choice but to follow Xu Jinzhi, holding her in his arms to shield her from the wind as much as possible, and they quickly walked to where they had parked before.
Once at the parking lot, they both got into the car and drove to a restaurant famous for its Huaiyang Cuisine.
Since they had reserved a private room in advance, upon arriving at the restaurant, the waiter led them to the box.
The box was designed like a charming Jiangnan courtyard, complete with a screen and soone playing small tunes behind it.
However, Xu Jinzhi wanting to talk to Xie Yanchuan, and after one song, she asked the musician to leave.
Soon, only Xu Jinzhi and Xie Yanchuan were left in the box, making Xie Yanchuan feel much more at ease.
The two of them talked about so trivial matters while dining—mostly, it was Xu Jinzhi talking while Xie Yanchuan watched with a smile.
Eventually, Xu Jinzhi raised her glass, filled with juice, and smiling warmly at Xie Yanchuan, she said, “Xie Yanchuan, happy fifth anniversary.”
“Happy fifth anniversary,” Xie Yanchuan also raised his glass and clinked it with Xu Jinzhi’s.
As they left the restaurant after the al, Xu Jinzhi suddenly realized it had started snowing!
Although it snows every year in City A, Xu Jinzhi usually didn’t find it special, but she was sowhat excited and turned to Xie Yanchuan, “Xie Yanchuan, it’s snowing!”
Xie Yanchuan nodded, “Yes, it’s snowing.”
“Tuantuan likes the snow, he must be very happy at ho now!” Xu Jinzhi declared confidently.
