Chapter 201: Chapter 201: It’s Like Betraying Your Own Bestie

The next day, Xu Jinzhi received news that Song You had returned from her trip and brought a gift for Tuantuan, asking if it was convenient for them to et.

Naturally, Xu Jinzhi agreed without hesitation.

That week, Xu Jinzhi and the others were going back to the old house for dinner on Saturday, so Xu Jinzhi arranged to et Song You on Sunday evening.

Of course, she wanted to see Song You, since she had sothing very important to ask her!

In a blink, Sunday afternoon arrived. After waking up from a nap, Xu Jinzhi changed her clothes, finished her makeup, and after informing Xie Yanchuan and Tuantuan, she left the house.

She drove herself to the restaurant they had agreed upon earlier. It was still early, but custors were already beginning to trickle in.

Xu Jinzhi looked around but couldn’t spot Song You at first.

A waiter ca up to ask which table Xu Jinzhi was at, but she didn’t know herself and took out her phone to ssage Song You.

Before she could send the ssage, she heard a familiar voice shout, “Jinzhi!”

Turning around, Xu Jinzhi saw Song You and whispered to the waiter nearby, “Thank you, my friend has arrived.”

“It’s no problem. Enjoy your al,” the waiter said and then went back.

Song You had arrived beside Xu Jinzhi. “I just went to the restroom.”

While speaking, Song You took Xu Jinzhi by the arm and led her to their table.

From the mont she saw Song You, Xu Jinzhi kept sizing her up. It seed like the break from work had relaxed her completely; Xu Jinzhi thought Song You had even gained a bit of weight.

They quickly sat down at their table, and facing each other, Xu Jinzhi remained silent, while Song You couldn’t help feeling sowhat embarrassed.

Xu Jinzhi had known Song You for too long; she even felt she understood Song You better than Xie Yanchuan.

“Well, I haven’t ordered yet. Shall we order first?” Nowadays, many small restaurants use online ordering. Song You said this and quickly scanned a QR code with her phone.

After scanning, Song You didn’t look at the nu and handed her phone directly to Xu Jinzhi to order.

Seeing Song You’s flustered behavior, Xu Jinzhi couldn’t help but find it a bit funny.

To avoid further awkwardness, Xu Jinzhi took the phone and started ordering. It was just the two of them, so they didn’t need too much, and even though she knew Song You’s preferences, she still asked what Song You wanted to eat.

“Anything is fine, you decide,” Song You replied, clearly flustered.

Just as Song You finished speaking, a “ding-dong” sound ca from the phone, clearly from Song You’s phone, as Xu Jinzhi had seen the WeChat notification.

However, because the chat box had been hidden, Xu Jinzhi didn’t see the specifics of the ssage.

But Song You, already a bit flustered, thought Xu Jinzhi saw the ssage content when she looked at her, and she couldn’t stay calm any longer.

“Jinzhi…” Song You’s voice trembled as she called out.

Xu Jinzhi continued ordering with her head down. After finishing, she handed the phone back to Song You and said sowhat helplessly, “Why are you nervous?”

Song You moved her lips, thinking to herself, of course, she was nervous, but there were so things she just didn’t know how to say. Even after ntally preparing herself for a long ti, Song You still found it hard to speak.

Now that the order was successful, the waiter quickly ca with the bill, and Song You asked, “Do you have alcohol?”

The waiter was taken aback, then answered, “Yes.”

“Youyou, I’m not drinking right now,” Xu Jinzhi reminded her.

After what Tuantuan had said the other day, Xu Jinzhi had been more cautious lately, trying to avoid uncontrollable situations.

But at that mont, Song You hadn’t thought to ask why Xu Jinzhi wasn’t drinking and hastily said, “It’s fine, I’ll drink alone.”

Song You didn’t actually want to drink with Xu Jinzhi; she just couldn’t speak up and wanted to drink to bolster her courage.

The waiter left again, and Xu Jinzhi said, “Youyou, you don’t have to be so nervous, you know I…”

“Jinzhi! Wait a second before you say anything,” Song You hurriedly interrupted Xu Jinzhi.

Xu Jinzhi stopped, looking at the very nervous Song You across the table, feeling a bit upset inside.

Her personality was indeed rather dominant, but with her childhood friend Song You, whom she had grown up with, her assertiveness wasn’t used on Song You.

The already sowhat awkward atmosphere beca even more so due to Xu Jinzhi’s silence, sothing Song You herself never noticed.

The waiter quickly brought over two bottles of fruit wine. Song You opened a bottle and poured a glass intending to offer it to Xu Jinzhi, but then stopped, rembering that Xu Jinzhi had just said she didn’t drink.

So Song You took a sip herself. Although the warming effect took ti, the warmth in her stomach provided her a slight sense of calm.

Song You took a deep breath and looked at Xu Jinzhi, who seed sowhat indifferent across the table. She knew that Jinzhi must have known already.

And at that mont, Xu Jinzhi’s expression made Song You think she was unhappy about her relationship with He Jingyi.

But considering what had happened between her and He Jingyi, Song You still felt sowhat uneasy.

With lips trembling, Song You said, “Jinzhi, I’m with He Jingyi now.”

As she spoke, Song You kept her eyes on Xu Jinzhi, wanting to see her reaction.

Xu Jinzhi didn’t respond quickly; after a long silence, she replied, “So?”

“I’m sorry!” Song You said while lowering her head as if unable to face Xu Jinzhi.

Xu Jinzhi, who had already felt upset, now felt even worse after hearing the apology. “Youyou, we’ve known each other since we were kids. I’ve never mistreated you, have I?”

“Ah?” Song You looked up bewildered at Xu Jinzhi, not understanding what she ant.

“If I’ve never mistreated you, then why are you worried I’d be angry about you being with He Jingyi?” Xu Jinzhi asked calmly.

Song You wasn’t t with the expected bla, but instead, she heard Xu Jinzhi speak so calmly, which made her feel even more that sothing was off.

Another silence followed, and Song You hurriedly explained, “It’s because He Jingyi used to like you, and I used to join you in mocking him for being childish. Now I’m with him!”

Her actions felt like a betrayal of her best friend.
