Chapter 60: The Husband Sings, the Wife Follows

“This is the place for the wedding ceremony?”

Xia Lianxue curiously looked at the scene before her.

The once majestic main hall of the Jade Palace had now turned into an ink-wash style structure.

On the originally carved white-jade pillars now hung faint red lantern flowers.

At the center of the hall were two solid wooden chairs, with so ink-wash ingots placed beside them.

At a glance, it truly resembled the setup for a marriage ceremony.

It was also Lu Changyuan’s first ti seeing such an arrangent.

A group of ink-wash people walked to and fro, laughing and chatting, saying things like how it was an auspicious day, and who would have thought even Ancestor Red Luan would be having a wedding.

“Hm?”

Among the group of ink-wash people, Lu Changyuan spotted a familiar figure.

White-haired, eyes covered, carrying a birdcage, at this mont she was sitting on an ink-wash chair in the corner, sipping tea.

Lu Changyuan twitched at the corner of his eye: “Third Royal Highness, why are you here?”

Su Youwan seed to only notice them now. She did not rise, but instead said: “When I ca in, I saw soone holding a wedding. Thinking I could catch so good fortune, I ca to take a look.”

Truly a plain and simple reason.

Would the Bodhisattva of Supre Forgetting Emotions also join in such bustle?

Xia Lianxue poked her little head out, staring at the Third Princess.

She still rembered when the Third Princess wanted to confirm a marriage agreent.

But her current status and her past one were not quite the sa, and so her mindset had changed.

The little fairy snorted, then pulled Lu Changyuan to sit beside Su Youwan.

Su Youwan maintained her ever-calm and unruffled deanor: “Before I ca in, I saw Jiang Jiayi of the Dao Sect outside. She seed to be fighting with soone, and that opponent appeared to be unkillable.”

Lu Changyuan furrowed his brows. Did the Illusory Moon Dao have such thods?

If it was enough to trouble Jiang Jiayi, then without doubt, it must have been Ancestor Red Luan.

Su Youwan spoke softly: “It is said that the Ancestor of Feather Moon Immortal Palace once fought against a great demon known as the Painting Demon. In the end, she sealed the great demon, but was also possessed by it, and finally passed away.”

Xia Lianxue poured a cup of tea for Lu Changyuan.

He took it and drank, then silently placed the cup back down.

A mouthful of ink flavor.

How did this Third Princess manage to drink ink with such a calm face?

Lu Changyuan sighed: “There really are so many old monsters in the cultivation world.”

Daoist Chang’an had already swept through once back in the day, but who would have thought an even older group of monsters had hidden themselves this deeply.

A sin.

Back then, he shouldn’t have just focused on beating Feng Xianlong; he should have thoroughly cleaned up Feather Moon Immortal Palace.

Lu Changyuan turned his head toward Xia Lianxue: “The painting in your palace’s Scripture Repository—how long has it been there?”

Xia Lianxue shook her head: “At least since I first entered the palace, it was already there.”

That clarified it.

That damn Ancestor Red Luan, possessed by the Painting Demon, had no choice but to turn her body into a landscape painting, waiting at the top of the Scripture Repository for the next Red Luan Calamity Body.

Because of the demon’s possession, she could remain in the form of a painting for ages, silently waiting.

She had deliberately passed down edicts to pave the way for her eventual return.

Until today, when Ancestor Red Luan had manipulated Xian Qingqiu to unroll the scroll, then devoured her, fully activating her thod.

As for why she only now thought to possess Xia Lianxue, that was easy to explain.

Because.

She couldn’t find her.

The Red Luan Calamity Body only awakened upon entering the Dao.

Thus, after Xia Yutang entered the Dao, that was the best ti for Ancestor Red Luan to seize her body.

So long as Xia Yutang remained in Feather Moon Immortal Palace long enough, her consciousness would gradually be eroded, and by the ti she reached Jade Radiance, she would be possessed by Ancestor Red Luan.

But Xia Yutang had returned ho as soon as she entered the Dao.

After discovering the Little Doctor was gone, she imdiately went into seclusion, falling into the void.

How could possession take place within the void of ti?

And that was not all. When Xia Yutang erged from the void, she was already at Jade Radiance—a Jade Radiance tempered across a thousand years of the river of ti.

Ancestor Red Luan had no chance at all.

If she dared to jump out then, the Palace Mistress of Jade, who had slaughtered through chaos for a hundred years, would have dared to betray master and ancestors alike, letting the Ancestor of the Illusory Moon Dao taste the might of the Dao of Ti.

And because Xia Yutang cultivated the Dao of Ti, Ancestor Red Luan had to be especially cautious, lest she be discovered within the flow of ti.

Later, things took a turn.

The little fairy walked the Red Dust Path again, granting Ancestor Red Luan another chance.

This ti, as long as Xia Lianxue returned to the Fifth Realm, before she recovered her mories, Ancestor Red Luan would descend with thunderous force to possess her.

Even if she recovered her mories, Ancestor Red Luan was confident, for she predicted Xia Lianxue would surely fail the Red Dust Trial.

To step into Jade Radiance, everyone must forget her.

But because of the Red Luan Calamity Body’s uniqueness, Ancestor Red Luan always rembered Xia Lianxue. Thus, the little fairy could never truly make everyone forget her.

The plan seed flawless.

But who could have expected she would happen to run into Han Ze’s demonic fall, Dao Sect interference, and Jiang Jiayi sealing her true body outside with one sword? She had no choice but to burn through her foundations to buy ti to possess Xia Lianxue.

Even so, the little fairy still suffered backlash from the Red Dust.

Though she remained Jade Radiance, she might not necessarily surpass Ancestor Red Luan, leaving her still a chance.

But Ancestor Red Luan could never have imagined—

Beside Xia Lianxue was a reborn Daoist Chang’an.

Lu Changyuan looked at Xia Lianxue with a subtle expression, unsure of what to say.

“Why is Young Master looking at like that?”

Xia Lianxue, under his gaze, grew a bit nervous. Her hands folded neatly, sitting properly, obedient as a little bride.

Lu Changyuan sighed: “I just don’t know whether to say you are lucky, or unlucky.”

“I think I am very lucky.” The white-dressed fairy tilted her head.

She truly felt herself lucky.

At the end, she was still able to fulfill her regret.

An ink-wash person hurried over, holding red groom’s robes in its arms: “My lord, why are you sitting here? Please follow quickly to change into the wedding clothes!”

Lu Changyuan glanced at Xia Lianxue. The little fairy puffed her cheeks: “Go, I want to see what Ancestor Red Luan is really planning.”

The Third Princess sipped her tea again, seeming to enjoy the flavor of ink.

Seeing Lu Changyuan follow the ink-wash person to change his clothes—

Xia Lianxue straightened her back, staring directly at the Third Princess: “Miss Su, it has been a long ti.”

Su Youwan frowned slightly, not understanding why Xia Lianxue’s behavior was so different now.

She had already felt sothing unusual about Xia Lianxue’s aura earlier, but now she was even more puzzled: “Why say this to now?”

The fairy only shook her head: “About the marriage that Noodle Granny once ntioned—what does Miss Su think of it?”

Though she did not quite understand Xia Lianxue’s aning, Su Youwan still answered: “I think it would be good, but Young Master Lu does not seem to share such intentions.”

“No matter.” The gentle white-dressed fairy’s eyes seed to hold sothing deeper.

The Third Princess paused, then covered her cup with its lid: “Why is it that both you and he dislike answering questions directly?”

“Perhaps it is because of the husband sings, the wife follows.”

Xia Lianxue smiled faintly.

The Third Princess suddenly said: “The forr Palace Master of the Sun-Moon Palace was a woman.”

The wind suddenly stilled.

The always soft, snow-white fairy narrowed her eyes: “What do you an?”

The Third Princess only stood up, giving no answer to Xia Lianxue’s question, as if to repay her for refusing to answer earlier.
