And so it went.
The days slipped by unnoticed.
For Qin Yi, these were the most delightful days he had ever experienced in his lifeti.
After leaving the court, he got to play with his daughter, Little Yanyan, and indulge in affectionate gas with his pampered wife.
Seeing his little woman’s angry yet silent face, her cheeks puffed up like a bun as she glared at him, he had always feasted on such wonderful sights.
"Co on, Little Yanyan, you are brave! Keep going, keep going!"
Lately, Little Yanyan started learning to walk, toddling around the house with her small legs, always insisting on soone to guide her.
Su Pan’er, fearing that the child would catch a cold outside, insisted on bringing Little Yanyan inside the house for practice walking.
This usually took up a whole day.
Consequently, the room was half filled with maids and old won.
Not only did this seriously interfere with his war strategies, but it also trampled on his bonding ti with Pan’er.
He could bear this for a day or two, but when he saw his woman – all his own – focusing all her attention on the little one, an imdiate wave of resentnt washed over him.
"Eeeh-eee-aaah-aaah..."
As Little Yanyan continued with her toddler-talk, she walked around the house in circles, with the help of her mother.
She now and then raised her head and flashed a smile at anyone around.
Although, Qin Yi’s furrowed eyebrows tightened even further.
Finally, when he could no longer hold his peace, he stood up abruptly and said, "You all, take the child out."
The maids and old won looked at each other, but dared not neglect this order. They picked up Little Yanyan and took her out of the room.
Su Pan’er, who was happily playing with the child, was taken aback when he abruptly ordered to take the child away.
"What’s wrong with you again?"
"From now on, don’t let the child into our room. She’s not a baby anymore, she should have her own room."
"That’s nonsense! The child is still so tiny, what does ’not a baby anymore’ an? I see that you are just making a fuss about nothing. I’m speechless!"
Su Pan’er didn’t bother dealing with him.
She rose up to leave the room but Qin Yi grabbed her wrist.
"Don’t leave!"
Qin Yi snuggle up to her: "You’re my wife, in your eyes there should just be ! No one else."
"What do you an by soone else? She’s your and my daughter. She’s not a stranger, can’t you act like a father?"
Su Pan’er looked up in exasperation, not knowing how to argue with him.
"Anyway, it’s all the sa. You’re my woman, and you are mine alone. Pan’er, my dear Pan’er..."
Qin Yi pleaded with all his might, clinging to Su Pan’er and not letting her go.
During this back and forth, a hurried footstep suddenly ca from outside the door. Then, ca a knock.
"My lord, Eunuch Hao from the Palace has arrived, and he is waiting at the front door at this mont."
Eunuch Hao has arrived? Both of them stood up abruptly.
"Let him in!"
Qin Yi imdiately ordered.
As Uncle Xiao left, Qin Yi turned to his wife with curiosity, "It’s already dark outside, why would Eunuch Hao co visiting at this hour?"
Su Pan’er shrugged: "If even you don’t know why, how would I? You better get ready to et him."
It was no small matter that soone from the palace was visiting. In spite of his injuries, Qin Yi hastily changed into his official uniform to et him.
The mont Eunuch Hao entered, he quickly gave his greetings, "Your servant greets the Marquis Zhenguo! Greetings, ma’am!"
Qin Yi and his wife bowed in return: "Eunuch Hao, what brings you here?"
"The Empress Dowager has fallen ill. The Imperial Physicians at the Imperial dical Bureau are at their wit’s end. Therefore, they have sent this servant to invite you, madam. We hope you would accompany this servant to the palace for the sake of His Majesty’s filial piety."
To invite Su Pan’er to cure the Empress Dowager? Both of them were taken aback!
