Her mind was in a confused ss, completely void of sleepiness.
Seeing Little Yanyan sleeping sweetly in her arms, she nestled her into the quilt, fearing she might catch a cold. She then curled up, resting against Little Yanyan’s soft little body, quietly awaiting the dawn from outside, her mind repeatedly flashing through her past with Qin Yi.
She didn’t know when she finally drifted into a daze-filled sleep.
In her dream, there was an Asura Sea ford by mountain of corpses and fresh blood.
The blood-red sea was endless, filled with flashes of swords and shadows of blades. Countless faceless figures were fighting desperately, severed limbs were everywhere, floating and sinking in the fetid Asura Sea. There were countless skulls, devoid of flesh and skin, staring at her with two hollow eye sockets.
She was a complete ss, franticly running in the knee-deep blood sea, loudly calling out Qin Yi’s na.
Suddenly, a familiar call ca from the distance: "Pan’er, I am here!"
Upon turning her head, Su Pan’er saw Qin Yi standing not too far from her in the blood sea. He was clad in armor, wore a silver helt, and was holding a sharp lance in his hand, beckoning her from where he stood.
Her heart leapt with joy, she shouted his na aloud and lunged toward him. But as she did so, Qin Yi suddenly vanished from his previous position!
She grew anxious, crying out loud: "Qin Yi, Qin Yi!"
In her frantic search, she found Qin Yi reappeared with his back to her in the left rear direction.
As she tried to lunge again, before she could act, she felt an object wrapped around her legs. Looking down in shock, she saw an octopus as large as two n! The octopus, waving its eight long tentacles, was pulling her toward its mouth.
When Su Pan’er tried to pull free, she was startled to discover that her natural godlike strength had disappeared, and she couldn’t budge it in the slightest!
Feeling herself about to be pulled into the octopus’ mouth, she called out frantically to Qin Yi to save her.
"Qin Yi, save ! Please save ....."
Qin Yi slowly turned back, his empty gaze as if he was looking at a stranger.
A pang shot through Su Pan’er’s heart, and before she could understand what was happening, suddenly, a hidden arrow flew from the original place, aid directly at Qin Yi’s heart!
"Qin Yi!"
Screaming in horror, Su Pan’er cried: "Run! Ah...."
"Madam, Madam, what’s wrong? Madam!"
The familiar voice of Xiao Min resounds next to her, followed by Aunt Wang’s voice outside the house: "Madam, has the young lady urinated? Or does she need so milk?"
Su Pan’er jolted upright, her pupils filled with fear and dread. Only then did she notice her back was soaked in sweat. The room suddenly beca chilly as Aunt Wang, draped in her cloak, entered the room and a gust of wind swept in.
Xiao Min and Aunt Wang had been on night duty. Xiao Min, in her underwear, was standing by the bed, checking on Little Yanyan’s condition. It seed Little Yanyan had also been awakened, staring dazedly at Su Pan’er for a mont before rolling over and going back to sleep.
"Madam, what happened to you?"
It was then that Su Pan’er ca out of her nightmare, her mind gradually clearing. Hastily, she forced a smile: "Nothing, I just dreamt of Lord Marquis....."
After saying that, she lay down again, her vacant eyes staring into empty space.
Aunt Wang, who is worldly-wise, naturally understood the reason for Su Pan’er’s troubled mind. Part of this got to do with the rchant’s words, which made Madam worry about the general. This led to nightmares. She sighed softly, then exchanged a comforting glance with Xiao Min.
"Madam, don’t worry. Uncle Xiao has already arranged everything you’ll need for tomorrow. You can rest easy. There are still two hours until dawn, this old servant will make a bowl of ginseng tea for you. Please, you should get so more rest."
At this mont, how could Su Pan’er sleep?
She simply shook her head, her expression pallid: "No need, I’ll just rest for a while longer."
Seeing Su Pan’er’s forehead soaked in sweat, Xiao Min hurriedly fetched so hot water to wipe her body down. She then fetched clean underwear for Su Pan’er to change into.
Su Pan’er simply got up and dressed herself, tying all her hair up into a bun, and changing into male clothing suitable for running. She tied up her sleeves and trouser legs, and silently sat on the edge of the bed, watching Little Yanyan sleep, awaiting the break of dawn.
She couldn’t help but recall the absurd dream she had before, about the arrow aid at Qin Yi, about Qin Yi’s strange gaze, and involuntarily covered her heart with her hand.
It seed like the pain from the dream still lingered there.
Aunt Wang ca in with a tray: "I’ve made a bowl of ginseng tea, Madam. Please see if it suits your taste, have so more, it will help warm your stomach."
Su Pan’er didn’t refuse, grabbing the bowl and drinking the tea in one gulp.
Aunt Wang took the empty bowl: "Madam, don’t rush, I saw Caretaker Xiao is already up and feeding the horses outside. Once the horses are finished eating, he should report to you soon."
"Hmm."
Su Pan’er rubbed her forehead, and took the opportunity to ask again, "Have all the rations and supplies been prepared?"
"They were prepared yesterday. Breakfast has already been prepared in the stove, do you want to have so?" Aunt Wang asked hopefullly.
"Sure."
Even though she had no appetite, Su Pan’er still nodded.
Breakfast was served quickly - it was white rice congee with tender smashed cucumbers, and so vegetables grown in the mountains.
When the congee entered her mouth, it tasted better than Su Pan’er had expected. She forced herself to finish a bowl, and then put down her chopsticks, and sat blankly in her chair.
Seeing Su Pan’er’s lack of usual energy, Aunt Wang discretely pulled Xiao Min who just cleaned the bowl and chopsticks and said quietly, "I think the Madam is worried about the Lord Marquis. Why not ask your father to gather his people quickly? Give them torches to go down the hill, so they can set off just before dawn. The journey down the hill should be no problem as our n guard it along the way, and they are used to it. We shouldn’t have to worry about any dangers."
Xiao Min thought about it and agreed.
"Okay, I’ll go and discuss it with my father. But I wonder if the horses are already full? If the horses are not full, they might not be able to go far, wouldn’t that delay our journey?"
Despite saying this, she quickly went out to find her father - Caretaker Xiao.
It wasn’t long before Uncle Xiao hurriedly rushed over and reported, "Madam, everything outside is ready. We can set off at any ti!"
At these words, Su Pan’er jumped up and turned to pick up Little Yanyan, quickly acknowledging.
"Wait for a mont, I’m coming!"
She quickly helped Little Yanyan to relieve herself, got her dressed in a coat, picked up the baby carrier, preparing to strap Little Yanyan to her back.
During this process, Little Yanyan woke up, her eyes staring blankly at her mother, obediently neither crying nor fussing.
