"I heard that the benefactor possesses excellent dical skills. Would you be willing to treat soone?"
Master Liao Jue spoke with a hint of Buddha’s mantra in his voice.
"Who is the master referring to?"
Su Pan’er turned around.
"You already have the answer in your heart, Benefactor. Why do you insist on pressing the matter?"
"According to your teachings, Master, since each individual has a predestined fate, then why should I interfere? If his life is not destined to end, then he will not die, right?"
Su Pan’er’s lips curled into a faint soft smile as she turned to step out of the room.
Does he want to treat Qin Ru’s injuries?
So, Qin Ru is truly injured! However, Su Pan’er actually finds Qin Ru more pleasing to the eye compared to Qin Hong.
Master Liao Jue hesitated slightly before bowing in the direction of Su Pan’er’s retreating figure.
"The proverb says ’Saving a life is more ritorious than building a seven-story pagoda.’ Bless you, why are you so against it?"
Save a life?
Su Pan’er’s lips contoured into a crescent moon-like smile.
So many people in the world are suffering. Can she, Su Pan’er, save them all?
Furthermore, she might lend a hand if soone else falls sick. But Qin Ru belongs to Prince Xuan’s Mansion. She has not forgotten the stand-off between Prince Xuan and Qin Yi back in the Hall of Golden Chariots!
Want to lend a hand? Sure!
But make an offer that moves and is worth my while!
She hurriedly left the Zen room, making her way towards the winding path behind the hill. The zen rooms were scattered in a complex pattern. She was lost in her thoughts and unconsciously moved hastily forward. By the ti she realized, she was in a foreign zen yard.
When Su Pan’er finally stopped, she leaned against a pillar to rest for a bit and carefully recalled Master Liao Jue’s words.
Although she seed indifferent when responding earlier, her heart felt like a droplet of cold water splashing into boiling oil, causing countless ripples.
She remained puzzled about her presence in this bewildering era. If it indeed is as Master Liao Jue said, that her appearance was triggered by the occurrence of ’The Seven Stars in a Line,’ could it an that soone could drive her out, claiming her as a heretic?
Despite this thought being absurd, there have been countless people executed as heretics throughout the ages!
While lost in thought, a faint conversation suddenly drifted into her ears.
"How are things going?" It was a vigorous middle-aged man’s voice.
"Do you have doubts about my work? For all these years we have been working together, when, except for that one incident, did I ever displease you?" A slightly frivolous voice replied.
"Hmph! Didn’t you just admit that you ssed up that one ti?"
The vigorous middle-aged man let out his grievances: "What frustrates the most was that incident! Do you know, because of that incident, I have been living in fear of being exposed. All of this is your doing!"
The middle-aged man’s voice was distant and low, making it hard for Su Pan’er to hear clearly.
But now, as the man grew angry and started to speak more, Su Pan’er listened carefully. The speaker was none other than Prince Xuan!
It’s not surprising that Prince Xuan was here, but who was he talking to?
Su Pan’er imdiately recalled when she unintentionally heard the conversation between Prince Xuan, Princess Consort Xuan, and an unnad individual at the Zhang Family’s Mansion.
Afterwards, Su Pan’er sketched the man’s portrait and handed it over to Qin Yi for investigation.
But strangely, no matter how hard they searched, they couldn’t find any trace of this man.
However, the person conversing with Prince Xuan now was unmistakably the man she couldn’t find despite scouring all of Shengjing!
"You can’t bla for this!"
The frivolous voice sounded again: "I did my best to surround and trap them, but they still managed to escape. It just goes to show that their ti had not yet co. Besides, it’s been over twenty years. That incident has long beco history. You continue to bring it up, disrupting our peace, don’t you find it damaging to our harmony?"
"Fine! I’m not allowed to speak about your mistakes, am I?"
Prince Xuan seed sowhat embarrassed: "That’s fine then! I dare not trouble you with today’s matter either. Let handle it myself and you can just stand aside and watch!"
"Sure! If you want to handle it yourself, then go ahead! As for watching, I never mind the spectacle!"
The man dragged out his voice, sounding all the more like a hooligan.
"Hmph! You better rember what you said today!"
With that, Prince Xuan’s footsteps began to fade away.
Then, silence hung in the air for a long ti.
Just when Su Pan’er thought the drama was over, she heard the man’s distant voice: "Ugh! The old man is always so pretentious. Were it not for our longstanding association...heh!"
Then, there was silence.
Su Pan’er dared not even breathe heavily and listened attentively to any sounds from the other side.
After a while, there was still no sound.
"Madam, it’s getting late. Should we return? The young lady might have woken up by now." Qingwen gently inford Su Pan’er.
But it certainly gave Su Pan’er quite a fright!
Only then did she rember that Xiao Min and Qingwen were still behind her, easing her anxiety.
"You mischievous girl, you scared by suddenly speaking up!"
She asked casually: "By the way, it seed like soone passed by here just now. Did you hear anything?"
Her hearing was naturally sharper than most people’s which led to her inquiry.
Qingwen and Xiao Min exchanged glances and shook their heads, replying in unison: "Your servant noticed no one nearby. Madam, do you have sothing on your mind?"
Su Pan’er withdrew her gaze, slightly disappointed: "Oh, it’s nothing, I was just asking for directions. Let’s go!"
She then rembered the path she had followed, turned and left the yard.
Su Pan’er looked around, saw no one, and quickly instructed her two companions: "Don’t ntion to anyone that we got lost earlier. If anyone asks, don’t bring it up. Understood?"
"Your servant understands."
The two won quickly replied.
Still feeling uneasy, Su Pan’er added: "I just don’t want anyone using it to their advantage."
With that, she walked into the small Zen room she was using as a temporary residence. As expected, she could hear little Yanyan’s cries from afar, so she quickened her pace.
"Why is little Yanyan crying? Is she missing her mother?"
Nanny Zhou was cradling little Yanyan, trying to comfort her. At the sound of Su Pan’er’s voice, she turned pale.
"Madam, the young lady woke up for a short ti, but she didn’t drink any milk when I tried to feed her. I don’t know what’s wrong."
