When Su Pan’er woke from her coma, she squinted to open her eyes and saw Qin Yi’s bearded face and a pair of blood-red eyes.

"Pan’er, are you awake? Pan’er..."

Qin Yi called out tenderly, waving his hand in front of Su Pan’er.

Su Pan’er closed her eyes, and after a mont, she gently reopened them: "Qin Yi, is that you?"

"It’s , Pan’er. Your husband is here with you, Pan’er, Pan’er!"

Qin Yi, overwheld with emotion, hugged her tightly and rubbed his face against hers, his eyes brimming with tears that he couldn’t bear to shed.

Thank goodness! Thank goodness, Pan’er is finally awake!

Thank heavens!

Leaning against his robust body, Su Pan’er’s mind gradually clear and she recalled the events prior to her fainting.

She hastily pushed Qin Yi away: "Qin Yi, why are you back? Didn’t you say you were going to investigate Brother Ye’s affairs? Where is Brother Ye now? How is he doing, is he seriously injured? And our child, how is she? No, I have to go and see her..."

"Fool! Don’t worry, Yan Yan is with the milkmaid, sound asleep. How are you feeling? You’ve slept for a whole three days, and your husband was terrified."

The spark in Qin Yi’s eyes went unnoticed as he didn’t directly answer Su Pan’er’s questions and quickly changed the subject: "Are you thirsty? Hungry? Wait a mont, and I’ll call the Imperial Physician over..."

Qin Yi, full of delight, had hardly finished speaking when he hurriedly called for the Imperial Physician.

Although Su Pan’er wanted to continue the conversation, the physician’s speedy arrival forced her to be silent. Miaoyu and Qingwen, who were at her side, quickly put down the curtains.

Behind the screen, the physician paid his respects to Su Pan’er before sitting down to examine her condition.

Feelings of uncertainty beset Su Pan’er as she watched the physician take her pulse, alternating between her left hand and right hand for a thorough examination.

Only after careful examination did the physician rise up, leave the inner room, and Qin Yi hurriedly followed.

"Imperial Physician, Is my wife’s health all right?"

The physician looked at Qin Yi before hesitantly saying: "The lady’s constitution is good. Now that she has awakened, she is no longer in severe danger. What remains is to properly replenish her energies. However..."

Just as Qin Yi had exhaled with relief, the physician’s voice trailed off, suspending his heart in mid-air yet again.

"What’s the ’however’?"

"However, her body has suffered from severe cold and has taken root in her system. I am afraid that in the future it may...hurt fertility."

Hurt fertility?

Qin Yi was taken aback, not having expected this conclusion. After a beat, he nodded slightly: "I understand. By all ans, keep this matter confidential. It must not be spread."

"This is within my duties. There was no need for your honor to make such a personal request. I will imdiately write a prescription and do my best to treat the lady properly!" The physician said, bowing to Qin Yi before departing to write the prescription.

Only after the physician had parted, did Qin Yi return to the inner room.

Su Pan’er had a stern look on her face, with Miaoyu and Qingwen knelt on the ground beneath her.

"Huh, what happened?"

The mont she saw Qin Yi, Su Pan’er’s eyes lit up. Ignoring Miaoyu and Qingwen on the ground, she instead turned her attention to Qin Yi.

"Answer , where is my child? Where is my Yan Yan, where is Yan Yan?"

Facing Su Pan’er’s blunt accusations, Qin Yi couldn’t help but laugh: "Don’t worry, Yan Yan is still peacefully sleeping with the milkmaid, you..."

"Don’t use these words to fool , I want to see my child!"

Su Pan’er interrupted him, and tried to get up as she lifted the blanket. But as soon as she moved, the room seed to spin around her, her vision darkened, and she nearly collapsed onto the floor.

"Pan’er!"

Qin Yi managed to catch her in ti, and rushed to help her back to the head of the bed: "Don’t panic, I will have Miaoyu bring the child to you right now. You quickly lie down, don’t move!"

Upon hearing that she could see her child, Su Pan’er finally obediently leaned back onto the bed, allowing the dizziness to pass.

As expected, not long after, they saw Miaoyu leading Nanny Zhou in a hurry, with Nanny Zhou holding a swaddled infant, and they greeted Su Pan’er.

"Yan Yan?"

Su Pan’er was overjoyed at once: "Quick, bring my Yan Yan!"

Without any hesitation, Nanny Zhou quickly stood up, carefully cradling the child in her arms as she moved forward, and handed the child to Su Pan’er.

The baby in the swaddle was bundled tightly, only a rosy little face was visible, sleeping sweetly.

Her face was all scrunched up, high eyebrows, pink lips, along with that delicate little nose, extraordinarily upturned. Perhaps due to the fact that she was just born, everything was so tiny about her. Yet no matter how you looked at her, she was still incredibly adorable.

Feeling the natural glow of motherhood, Su Pan’er looked at the little one in the swaddle, and couldn’t help rocking her gently.

"Is this...Yan Yan, our daughter?"

"Right, this is our child, Yan Yan. The weather is cold right now, and there is quite a distance from the milkmaid’s side room where she’s staying to here, I was afraid she would get cold."

Qin Yi softly explained his previous reasons for refusing her request.

This left Su Pan’er feeling particularly embarrassed.

"I... I was just too worried about Yan Yan... so my tone was a bit harsh..."

"It’s all right, our daughter is no ordinary person, she was brought back by her uncle with his own life!"

Qin Yi said softly, causing Su Pan’er to tremble all over, she abruptly lifted her head to look at him: "What...What did you just say? Repeat it for ."

"I said, Brother Ye has already..."

So, when Su Pan’er fainted, she slipped into a sleep that lasted three days and nights.

Over this three-day period, a whirlwind swept across the Capital City, completely reshuffling its power dynamics!

First, Great General Ye Han was assassinated on his way back, causing His Majesty to fly into a rage, his roaring echoed throughout the Hall of Golden Chariots!

Qin Yi, the Great General of the Guards, asked to take over the command of the Imperial Special Guards, which was originally under the charge of Great General Ye Han, and he pledged to find the murderers who had assassinated Ye Han!

After waves of pursuit, the whole Capital City was turned upside down.

Yet what was completely unexpected was that after thorough investigation, traces of activities from Prince Xuan and the troops of King Wu and Prince Qin were found.

King Wu and Prince Qin were the two younger brothers of the late emperor, who were also the biological brothers of the current His Majesty. After the late emperor’s passing, the throne was passed to the current His Majesty. Being grateful, His Majesty raised these two young brothers like his own children, and later arranged marriages for them, gave them the title of princes, and rewarded them with fiefs.

However, as Qin Yi investigated, he found nurous complex and tangled relationships.

When he placed the morials to the emperor on His Majesty’s dragon desk, His Majesty read them silently, then closed the paper and paused but gave no imdiate response.
