Su Pan’er couldn’t help but gently trace her fingertips over the calligraphy, carefully outlining the traces of the dragon’s tail in the characters.

The ink on the brush strokes had long dried. As her fingertips lightly brushed over it, she seed to be able to sense Qin Yi’s feelings as he wrote the letter.

The gestures between the brush and ink were steeped with deep longing!

She could not help but reminisce about how Qin Yi looked when he was writing, and could vividly see him passionately penning a letter for her.

He had been away for over ten days. Just thinking of him seed to stir up the mories he had left in her body, making her feel as though he was still embracing her, penetrating her, lingering in her body.

His tender kisses, the tremors his touch on her skin evoked, the attentiveness he showed when he helped her wash her feet...

Every little detail was magnified countless tis in her mind, constantly replaying.

Her cheeks could not help but turn red, her ears were ablaze as if coated in rouge.

It wasn’t until Mrs. Su-Hua called her na several tis without getting a response that she curiously prodded her: "Pan’er, Pan’er? What’s wrong, why don’t you open the letter and see what Qin Yi wrote?"

Su Pan’er abruptly snapped back to reality. A clamorous sound echoed in her ears, causing her to blush even more, and she even missed a few heartbeats!

Despite her embarrassnt, she quickly composed herself, hastily stuffing the letter into her bosom and prodding Mrs. Su-Hua towards the door.

"Mother, I’m a bit tired and want to rest for a while. You go ahead with your work!"

"My child, didn’t you just wake up? Why do you want to sleep again? Are you not feeling well sohow? Oh dear!"

As soon as Mrs. Su-Hua brought this up, she imdiately beca worried and was about to touch Su Pan’er’s forehead: "Did you catch a cold in the rain last night? Or did you forget to put on more clothes this morning and caught a chill? You are pregnant now, it would be terrible if you’re not well..."

"Mother! I’m fine..."

Su Pan’er hurriedly brushed her hand away, shaking her head consistently: "I just want to sleep a little more, could you please leave first. Out, out you go..."

"But..."

Mrs. Su-Hua wanted to say more but was strongly pushed out of the room by Su Pan’er. The door was then closed, right in front of Mrs. Su-Hua.

"Ah, you child!"

Mrs. Su-Hua was about to knock on the door when suddenly sothing seed to occur to her, she abruptly slapped her forehead: "Oh dear! Look at my foolish mind, so that’s why...hehe!"

Su Pan’er naturally heard Mrs. Su-Hua’s words, her face turned even redder, and even her bright and glistening eyes seed to be veiled with a layer of joy.

Her entire body was throbbing, as the blood in her veins bubbly excitedly.

She took out the letter, her hands shaking slightly. The sweet sense of happiness filled her entire heart to the brim. Even the sudden gusts of wind and pouring rain outside could not extinguish the warmth rising in her heart at that mont.

After hesitating for a long ti, she simply could not bring herself to open the letter.

Calming her heart, overflowing with joy, Su Pan’er took the seal off the envelope gingerly, took out the letter paper, unfolded it, and began to read.

The letter was indeed in Qin Yi’s handwriting, and it began with: "To my wife Pan’er: We have been separated for several days, and I, your husband, miss you day and night..."

The letter was long, spanning five full pages.

The vibrant, passionate words detailed everything that happened on his journey to Changze County. It also elaborated his slightly nervous, anxious yet joyous feelings when he first assud the role of County Magistrate.

He wrote about Zhang Xin’s cold sarcasm during their handover; of the hesitation caused by the absence of the new Registrar – who was supposed to arrive before him; as well as little details about his living quarters in the governnt back office of Changze County.

"Rembering the monts I shared with Pan’er, it feels as if it was just yesterday. Now, I am in a whirl of hectic affairs and desperately miss those tender monts with you. I wish you could write back soon to alleviate my agony of yearning."

In the end, he conveyed his greetings to everyone and wrote a separate line in smaller characters: Love never ends with aging, a heart like a twin-spider web, filled with a thousand knots.

"Love never ends with aging, a heart like a twin-spider web, filled with a thousand knots."

Su Pan’er read softly, a spring-like glow spread in her eyes. She couldn’t resist placing the letter on her chest, as if she could hear his free-spirited deanor when he was writing, as well as the sounds of him reciting the words.

It was as if he was once again holding her tenderly, whispering his feelings into her ear over and over again.

"Knowing the bitterness of longing, forever longing, forever rembering, short-term longing, endless resentnt. Qin Yi, you have let understand the aning of the word missing!"

She murmured softly, a tear hung on her cheek, but there was an unfading joy in her eyes.

Qin Yi, you are so detestable, so hateful, so loathso!

Even though you are far away, you still manage to stir my thoughts just with one letter, a few pieces of paper, and a few words.

I laugh when I think of your laughter, I worry when I think of your worries, I rejoice when I think of your happiness.

Longing, it cuts to the bone!

Cuts to the bone, longing!

I hope that from now on, every year we will remain the sa, and the flowers will bloom the sa year after year!

Looking out the window, the heavy rice stacks are creating layers of green waves. They gently sway in the rain and wind, the waves rise one after another, and the layered waves undulated, presenting a breathtaking view.

"Qin Yi, are you busy with public affairs at this mont, or are you thinking about like I am thinking about you?"

She mumbled softly.

On the windowsill, a pot of Golden Chrysanthemum was in full bloom. Water droplets were rolling on the pistils, shyly being in full blossom.

But at this mont, Qin Yi, who is far away in Changze County, is busy dealing with official duties.

The previous County Magistrate, Zhang Xin, was old and had always delegated the public affairs to Registrar Bai. After Bai was arrested, a pile of tasks that needed to be handled were abandoned there.

Right now, it was the Autumn Harvest season, he was busy counting the number of survivors left after a plague and urging the commoners to harvest the rice in the fields. At the sa ti, he was secretly investigating a corruption case. He was truly overwheld with work.

The rice in the farmland is ready for harvest. However, the weather suddenly turned abnormally cold, and it had been raining for an entire day. If the rain continued, the rice in the field might sprout, turn moldy, and rot in the field.

He looked through the county records of the past two hundred years and was currently discussing with a few people by his side.

"Although it’s raining now, according to the county records of the past two hundred years or so, I believe the weather will gradually clear up from tomorrow. After that, there will be seven to ten days of bright sunshine, followed by the first frost of the year. Everyone will need to work hard to urge the commoners to harvest the crops in the field as soon as possible to avoid difficulties in collecting taxes. That would be troubleso."

"Yes, sir!"

The crowd responded in unison.

Qin Yi gave them each their respective areas of responsibility, then waved his hand to let them leave.

A gust of cold wind blew towards him, he quickly stood up and closed the window. At a glance, he saw the golden chrysanthemums blooming in the window flowerbed outside.

They were swaying in the wind, blooming resplendently in the rain and wind.
