"Okay, let’s have a good gather and have so fun tonight!"
Su Pan’er was imdiately delighted.
Jun Ruoxue’s eyes squinted in even more laughter, her eyes rolling in her sockets.
"I want to sleep with you tonight. Hee hee, let’s see how many days Brother-in-law Qin can endure."
She laughed with her mouth covered, looking forward to watching Qin Yi making a fool of himself!
The joke made Su Pan’er chuckle out loud.
"Him? He definitely won’t care about these things."
What Qin Yi would do, she too was excited to discover.
She stirred her hot and sour noodles absentmindedly, both anticipating Qin Yi’s reaction.
As they were joking, there was a commotion outside the door.
Before long, Xiao Min quickly walked in, and muttered sothing into Su Pan’er’s ear.
Su Pan’er’s action was interrupted.
She slightly frowned, then laughed, whispered sothing into Xiao Min’s ear, and Xiao Min nodded and walked out quickly.
Jun Ruoxue was too engrossed in her al to notice Xiao Min’s arrival.
Su Pan’er cheered, "Co on, let’s hurry and finish our al! We can rest a while when we’re done..."
Jun Ruoxue gave Su Pan’er a half-smiling look, without refusing her good intentions. The two were not disturbed by the chaos earlier and continued to eat.
After lunch, Su Pan’er accompanied her to rest in the guest room. Soon, they drifted off.
But at that mont, Jun Ruoxue tugged at her hand stubbornly, "I’m dying of curiosity! Sister Pan’er, what on earth happened just now? You won’t say, and I’m so curious I could die."
"You, such a sprite! What’s so mysterious?"
Su Pan’er rolled over, lying flat on the bed, with a faint smile at the corners of her mouth.
Indeed, there’s no mysterious matter. It’s just that Mrs. Qin-Li couldn’t stand Mrs. Su-Hua who stole the lilight amongst them, so she deliberately provoked them, using Su Sikong’s matter as an excuse. Mrs. Qin-Li also accused Mrs. Su-Hua of visiting her son-in-law’s family during the mourning period.
Who doesn’t know about Su Sikong’s matter in the neighborhood?
Originally, Su Lao Si didn’t attend the house-moving celebration at Su Pan’er’s house today because of Su Sikong’s issue, which caused dissatisfactions to Mrs. Su-Hua.
Now Mrs. Qin-Li brings this up in front of so many people, wasn’t this like lighting a firecracker?
The two imdiately bickered.
Xiao Min ca by when the two were quarreling terribly.
Seeing that Su Pan’er wouldn’t tell her, Jun Ruoxue laughed, "Sister Pan’er, are you still trying to hide it from ? If there’s anything I want to know, there’s no secret I can’t find out. Besides, this matter isn’t a secret anymore."
Isn’t it not a secret anymore!
Mrs. Qin-Li and Mrs. Su-Hua were fighting with each other, and they brought up the identities of Su Pan’er and Qin Yi.
Only then did they find out that neither of them were actually their parents’ own children, but the two were fighting like blind roosters, neither willing to give in to the other!
Finally, Su Pan’er managed to settle the matter with one sentence.
"Sister Pan’er, I’m curious about what you told Xiao Min to pass on? How did they stop bickering as soon as they heard it?"
Jun Ruoxue blinked her large eyes, looking like a curious baby.
"She hasn’t ntioned when, but we shouldn’t wait too long."
Of course, Su Pan’er did not answer and pretended to sleep.
Jun Ruoxue continued to bother her for a while. Seeing that she was indeed asleep, she finally turned over and went to sleep, thinking about her own mother.
As she dwelled on this, she missed her mother at ho so much that she couldn’t fall asleep anymore.
By evening ti, the guests throughout the house had dispersed.
Jun Ruoxue did indeed stay on.
Despite the nauseating sll of oily smoke making her stomach churn, Su Pan’er managed to grill a stick of fish for Jun Ruoxue. The remaining chores were taken over by Qin Yi.
Jun Ruoxue, continually calling for her Brother-in-law Qin, amused everyone.
The others who stayed were Mrs. Su-Hua and Su Ke.
Su Ke had increasingly respected and admired Qin Yi, he took a kebab and imitated Qin Yi’s movents of stirring the charcoal, creating a mini grown-up image, that made Jun Ruoxue across from him laugh out loud.
Mrs. Su-Hua managed to sneak a conversation with Su Pan’er about the event earlier at noon. She was clearly still upset. "That old woman, I initially wanted to let it go as today is a day of great joy. But the more she spoke, the more she enjoyed it. She claid that all of your achievents today were due to Qin Yi’s efforts, also that our Su family was only able to afford today’s event due to their Qin family’s support. Without them, we would’ve starved. I was so upset that I quarrelled with her."
If it was just her being insulted, then Mrs. Su-Hua could have tolerated it.
But that old woman even insulted Pan’er and the entire Su family - how could she endure that?
Granted, the Su family is indeed unproductive at the mont. But, that doesn’t give her, a mother-in-law, any right to say such things, right?
The two of them started to argue fiercely.
"Mother, let’s forget about what happened today," said Su Pan’er carefully.
"But what about the future? After your son-in-law becos an official, there will be people who gossip, maybe even more than today. There will also be countless made-up stories. Are you planning on arguing with them every single ti?"
"That wouldn’t be possible! Not everyone is as unreasonable as that old woman."
Mrs. Su-Hua appeared unconcerned.
Su Pan’er looked grave: "That’s right, not everyone is like her. But Qin Yi will always be indebted to the Qin family. If he becos an official, and it’s brought up that he has dostic disputes and disrespects his parents, he might lose his official position."
"Is that...possible?"
Mrs. Su-Hua was imdiately anxious: "But, Qin Yi is not the Qin family’s biological son..."
"Whether he is the biological son or not is not important. What’s important is that Qin Yi respects his father."
Su Pan’er added.
She had heard Qin Yi talk about his birth history. Although he never explicitly ntioned it, he appreciated Old Qin who saved him from chaos.
Her mother-in-law and Mrs. Qin-Li arguing would be the last thing he’d want to see.
What does Mrs. Qin-Li value the most? Naturally, it’s Qin Wan’er’s marriage. And Mrs. Su-Hua? Naturally, it’s the child in her womb!
Su Pan’er asked Siao Min to deliver a ssage to Mrs. Qin-Li: If she stops making a scene, she and Qin Yi promise to help the Qin family have a grand marriage for Wan’er when the ti cos. Otherwise, they won’t do anything at all, since Qin Yi has already cut ties with the Qin family at the county governnt office.
Since Mrs. Qin-Li was making a fuss because of Qin Wan’er, as soon as she got this promise from Su Pan’er, she knew she should retreat when the ti was right.
As for the ssage delivered to Mrs. Su-Hua, it was even simpler: Pan’er heard the noise outside and it made her stomach ache.
Mrs. Su-Hua truly loved Su Pan’er, so upon hearing this news and seeing that Mrs. Qin-Li had stopped making a fuss, naturally, she cald down too.
But in the end, she was still upset!
