Jun Ruochen clenched his fist, his gaze fell on Jun Ruoxue. Seeing that his younger sister’s clothes were neat and even though she was full of rage, she stayed composed, secretively he sighed a breath of relief.

"Well, you speak even better than you sing. A dragon begets a dragon, a phoenix begets a phoenix, a rat’s child can make holes. Indeed, like father like daughter! Both of you are really good at pretending."

Jun Ruoxue couldn’t help but cuss angrily.

At her words, Su Sikong’s action of greeting people was paused, his molars ached from clenching so hard, but sohow, he managed to swallow his anger!

"Miss Jun, it’s alright to criticize Sikong. After all, Sikong didn’t handle this situation properly. However..."

He wore a wronged expression: "If it happened again, if Sikong has to choose again, out of gratitude for the Majesty’s favour, to honour the civilians of Yongze County, I Su Sikong would still do the sa! Even if I lose my position, I, Su Sikong, would never let those criminals get away!"

His words were impassioned and resonant!

Magistrate Cao couldn’t resist applauding!

"Good! Lord Su is absolutely correct, we, as mbers of the governnt, regardless of our ranks, must have a heart that loves the country and its citizens. We must treat others with leniency but maintain strict discipline. Good, very well said!"

With that said, he even gave Su Sikong a thumbs-up.

"Not at all, not at all, you overly praise Lord Cao! A governnt official who doesn’t serve the people is better off selling sweet potatoes at ho!"

Sukong Van wore a surprised expression as he cupped his hands in thanks, but his words exuded an overwhelming sense of righteousness.

The sight made Jun Ruoxue’s blood boil!

This despicable and incompetent official, instead of doing anything practical for the common people, only knows how to brag.

She was about to interrupt, but noticed Jun Ruochen shake his head subtly at her. She could only hold back her anger and swallow her words.

Su Sikong’s eyes, peering through narrow slits, rolled around.

The two people they t earlier, one of them, the tall one, was injured. That person was probably Qin Yi. Hence, as long as he could find them not being in Luoyan Village and so evidence of Qin Yi’s injury, even if Su Pan’er was cunning, she wouldn’t escape the inescapable net he had laid out!

With that thought, he quickly cleared his throat: "By the way, have the two of you seen Doctor Su? There’s sothing I would like to ask her."

Jun Ruochen raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Oh? Instead of capturing the two thieves, you’re looking for Doctor Su? What’s the matter?"

"The case is."

Su Sikong seed sowhat embarrassed: "Previously, one of my scouts found that when the two thieves fled from the county, they headed towards the direction of Luoyan Village, and that’s why I hurried here. Firstly, I wanted to search for traces of the thieves, and secondly, I wanted to ask Doctor Su if she has treated any patients wounded by an arrow."

This statent took everyone by surprise!

"You’re making wild guesses! That’s not how it is at all! Initially, it was..."

Jun Ruoxue began to counter instinctively, then realized she had misspoken.

"Then could Miss Jun tell us, how was it?"

Su Sikong took advantage of the opportunity to question her, leaving Jun Ruoxue speechless.

She cursed Su Sikong ruthlessly in her heart, having never t soone so shaless! The way he frad his argunt, it was obviously to shift the bla onto Sister Pan’er and her husband! She would not grant his wish!

With a sudden gleam in her bright eyes, she burst into laughter!

"I find it odd, when we encountered Lord Su on the road, we were clearly ahead of Lord Su, and there was a chance that we could run into your so-called thieves. You, however, never inquired about it, and now suddenly brought it up."

"What’s so strange about it? On the road, one of my scouts had already discovered traces that the two had reached Luoyan Village."

Su Sikong responded naturally and bowed to Magistrate Cao: "Your Honour, may I ask where Scholar Qin and his wife are presently?"

Magistrate Cao pondered montarily: "Before daybreak yesterday, Doctor Su and her husband entered the city. As whether they returned last night, I’m really not sure. How about I send soone to summon them?"

"Once Doctor Su and her husband had entered the city, they should have stayed there for one or two more days. It doesn’t make sense to return on the sa day."

Jun Ruoxue rushed to defend herself.

"Xue’er."

Jun Ruochen scolded her softly and then quickly saluted Magistrate Cao, "My younger sister is naughty by nature, my apologies for any offense she has caused. However, what she said is reasonable. It’s rare for them to co to town, they should indeed stay around and explore more."

Even though he didn’t understand why Xue’er was insistent on speaking up for Su Pan’er and her spouse, he instinctively helped her cover up.

"This is indeed a valid point, perhaps the two of them decided to stick around the county for a bit longer."

Magistrate Cao nodded in agreent.

Stick around more?

It’s all clear in Su Sikong’s mind!

Qin Yi was poisoned and unconscious, who knows where the couple might be hiding in the county city, or perhaps they’re currently rushing back to Luoyan Village!

"Lord! This is not a trivial matter. If the bandit really went to Luoyan Village, the only available doctor would be my dear niece! This is an issue that concerns the Imperial Court and the security of Yongze County. For the sake of capturing the criminals as soon as possible, should we send soone to summon them for an inquiry?"

Su Sikong responded, giving Jun Ruoxue a faint smile.

Jun Ruoxue took a deep breath, wishing she could punch his panda face.

He did it on purpose!

One hundred percent intentional, what if they find out that Sister Pan’er hasn’t returned, what should they do then?

Now, Sister Pan’er is in danger!

"Who does Lord Su want to summon for an inquiry?"

Accompanied by a clear and cheerful voice, a familiar figure suddenly appeared at the entrance.

Su Pan’er was leaning against the door’s edge, one hand propped on her chin, looking at everyone with an ambiguous smile.

Her gaze swept across everyone, before finally resting upon Su Sikong, "Lord Su, what’s wrong? Can’t speak? Maybe a kitten ran off with your tongue?"

Su Sikong’s mouth fell open, his chin almost hitting the floor!

"You, you, you... How are you here?"

"I, I, I... Why can’t I be here? This is my ho. Is it strange that I’m here?"

Su Pan’er asked in surprise, her curious eyes blinking.

"Pfft!"

Jun Ruoxue was imdiately amused!

The heart that had been hanging the whole ti finally relaxed the mont she saw Su Pan’er.

A strong sense of relief and joy enveloped her after the narrow escape!

She ran to the door in a few steps, taking hold of Su Pan’er’s arm, "Sister Pan’er, Lord Su just said that a scout saw the bandits who broke into the county governnt office last night heading towards Luoyan Village. One of them was injured and unconscious. He was wondering if anyone ca to you for treatnt?"

As Jun Ruoxue spoke, she winked at her behind everyone’s backs.

Su Pan’er lightly patted her hand twice, giving her a knowing look.

Only then did she step into the house.

"Today, no one really ca to for a consultation. I returned so late last night and was too tired, so I’ve been sleeping in my room until now."

She saluted the people present, and then turned to Su Sikong, "I wonder if Lord Su managed to get a clear look at the bandit’s face? It would be helpful for everyone to search for him, save us so energy!"
