The sound in his ears resembled a thousand horses galloping relentlessly.
He finally managed to gather all the items and put them back into the dicine box. As he stood up, the world seed to wobble before his eyes. He could see the scornful faces of the crowd, looking like gluttonous beasts, converging towards him.
Old Man Liu was also among the crowd, observing the spectacle. Seeing Old Hu stagger to his feet, he couldn’t resist kicking a man when he’s down and with a scornful expression said, "Old Hu, have you finished checking your belongings? If anything from your dicine box is missing and you bring it up later, we will not let you off easily!"
As he spoke, he forcefully pushed Old Uncle Hu, causing him to stumble back several steps.
"Enough, enough, everything’s here..."
Old Hu’s voice seed to co from a distant horizon.
Seeing the deranged and disheveled state of Old Uncle Hu, Old Qin sighed and turned to leave. After many years of friendship and given that they were relatives, he found it hard to watch the elder’s fall from grace.
Both Old Zhang and Elder Chen held expressions of deep sorrow, their lips moving as though they wanted to say sothing. But in the end, they remained silent. Seeing Old Qin leave, they reluctantly shook their heads, sighed deeply and followed suit.
But all of this didn’t register with Old Hu. He turned around in a daze, dragging his dicine box behind him as he staggered away.
As the three elders left without uttering a single word, the younger generation started causing a commotion.
"You old cheat, have you checked everything properly? At your age and still lacking decency, has your conscience been eaten by dogs?"
"Get lost, old man!"
As Old Uncle Hu passed by, soone gave him a forceful shove and spit a wad of phlegm at him.
Old Uncle Hu couldn’t help but fall to the ground.
Once soone made a move, rotten vegetable leaves and broken broomsticks began to fly and hit Old Hu.
Old Hu seed oblivious to it all and slowly got up–eyes unfocused, one drooping foot after another, body stiff. He resembled a lifeless corpse as he stumbled away.
Gradually, he disappeared into the pitch black night.
Su Pan’er frowned slightly at the sight of the raucous crowd. Without a word, she turned and returned to the firewood room.
Rembering the letter she found in the hidden compartnt of the dicine box and thinking about the disease ravaging the idiot’s body, a fierce gleam flashed in her eyes as she gazed into the darkness.
That old codger!
You had it coming!
She tidied up the room a bit, listening as the noise outside gradually quieted down.
Surprisingly, Qin Yi wasn’t around, which gave Su Pan’er an idea.
She sat cross-legged and began guiding the flow of the universe’s energy as dictated by the internal strength thod in her mory. After two cycles, she felt a familiar energy enter her body, marking a successful introduction of air into her body.
Her mind was void of joy and sorrow, and she quickly achieved a state of unity with the universe, deeply imrsing herself in cultivation.
After a complete cycle of this energy, Su Pan’er’s body emitted subtle crackling sounds, as though her joints were stretching open. She felt revitalized and her spirit was notably improved.
However, this also made her aware of a strange poison in her body. It didn’t quite feel like poison, but it was firmly lodged within her ridians, which was quite puzzling.
Opening her eyes, Su Pan’er was t with the sight of Qin Yi leaning towards her in intrigue, grinning curiously.
"What do you want?" Su Pan’er said guardedly.
Qin Yi curiously asked, "What were you doing, sweetheart? You’ve been sitting quietly for so long, I thought sothing had happened. But I didn’t dare disturb you. Were you ditating?"
"Do I need to report to you everything I do?"
Su Pan’er relaxed and casually leaned against the head of the bed, scrutinizing Qin Yi from head to toe.
Everyone had written her off, but this bumbling fool was the only one who completely shielded her, regardless of his reasons. His protective sentint towards her was undeniably genuine. Plus, he had silently guarded her just now and didn’t disturb her; she was indeed indebted to him. Considering his current poor health and the blood he coughed up due to his internal injuries too...
An audacious thought suddenly popped into her mind.
"This is a breathing technique from the school of Taoism. After practicing, it can strengthen your body and it can also cultivate a person’s vitality, fundantally changing one’s physical constitution. Would you like to learn it?"
She couldn’t teach him the internal strength thod, but the breathing technique was greatly beneficial to the human body, so it was harmless to teach him.
The smile on Qin Yi’s face froze: "Breathing technique?"
"Yes, do you want to learn it?" Su Pan’er asked again without explaining any further.
"Pan’er, are you worried about ?"
He knew that Pan’er ant well even though she sounded harsh. Qin Yi was first taken aback, then a look of joy spread across his face: "Is this breathing technique good for ? But with my current physical condition, can I even master it?" As he spoke, a trace of bitterness leaked from the corner of Qin Yi’s mouth.
Even the best things were wasted on him when he didn’t have ti to try them.
"How would you know without trying?"
"Okay, I will learn it!"
If this could make Pan’er smile, he had no issues trying it out.
"Then listen: Breathe like a thread moving in water, continuous and unbroken. Draw the breath into the dantian, let it circulate ceaselessly ..."
Su Pan’er explained the basic principles of the breathing technique to him: "Inhale, hold your breath, exhale, repeat, back and forth... Try practicing it and ask if you don’t understand sothing."
"Got it!" Qin Yi nodded. Pan’er’s instructions were simple and clear, not very difficult, which piqued his interest.
He soon imitated Su Pan’er’s cross-legged position and started to attempt the practice, gradually sinking into the rhythm of respiration.
After one cycle, Qin Yi couldn’t help opening his eyes in surprise: "Pan’er, this breathing technique of yours is really wonderful. I’ve only been doing it for a while, and I already feel so much more comfortable. My chest doesn’t feel so stuffy anymore."
This revelation rendered Su Pan’er speechless, a look of surprise in her eyes.
She asked with so hesitation, "Did you already master this breathing technique, completing one cycle?"
"Yes, isn’t completing one cycle the criteria you ntioned for being considered a beginner? Otherwise, I wouldn’t have dared to open my eyes! Did I do sothing wrong?" Qin Yi scratched his head, puzzled at Su Pan’er’s doubtful expression, and answered perplexedly.
"Uh!"
Su Pan’er was temporarily speechless.
She rembered it took her three days to barely complete one cycle when she first learned this breathing technique. She was praised for her rapid progress by her peers. Qin Yi had already mastered it in such a short amount of ti. Could he be a genius at cultivation?
"Pan’er, you’re really good to ." Qin Yi’s face was filled with joy, but his eyes were earnest.
"The thing about being good to you ... I actually have a request."
Nothing cos free in this world. Su Pan’er gave him a deep look, her eyes brimming with determination.
Qin Yi was sowhat puzzled: "What request?"
"That is..."
