"Enough, enough, what’s with all the fuss?"

Su Sikong had a slight anger on his face as he chided in a low voice, "Just go to the rooms for now. Later, whether or not these lords join us, I assure you none of you will be short of silver!"

"Such a thoughtful lord, understanding the needs of us sisters. You’re so rare!"

"Lord Su is indeed Lord Su, so generous indeed!"

The won cheered and happily dispersed.

The smile on Su Sikong’s face slowly disappeared. He then looked back at the tightly closed door before swiftly heading to Su Yue’er’s room.

Even before the soldiers had arrived, Su Sikong had received a ssage. He advised Su Yue’er to hide inside the room and not go out.

At this mont, when Su Sikong rushed over, Su Yue’er had already tidied up and was about to rest.

Seeing Su Sikong’s furrowed brows and brisk pace, she hurried to et him.

"Father, weren’t you with the lords? How did you find ti to see Yue’er?"

Her soft, delicate voice, filled with reassurance, instinctively eased Su Sikong’s tension.

Looking at his daughter, a woman of incomparable beauty standing there, it was no wonder soone had taken interest.

Su Sikong sighed heavily and walked over to sit on a chair, then gave a summary of what had happened earlier.

To his surprise, Su Yue’er laughed instead!

"I thought Father had encountered so difficult problem. Turns out it’s just a minor issue - my beauty has caught the attention of the visitor from Capital City. Surely, that’s a good thing, right?"

"What do you an?"

Su Sikong was shocked.

Su Yue’er held a playful smile, her eyes full of charm. Looking at him she said, "Father, are you worried that these n will truly want Yue’er to join their banquet? They haven’t t Yue’er yet, and the Su family has more than one daughter..."

That’s it!

Su Sikong slapped himself on his chubby cheek, then burst into laughter. "Yue’er is still the smart one! Haha... I temporarily lost my mind. I can’t believe I didn’t realize this earlier. I will go out and take care of these lords now."

With that, he turned and walked out.

He took only two steps before he returned, not contented. He carefully reiterated: "Yue’er, rember to hide well and endure. They won’t stay here for long, as they’re from Capital City."

"I got it! Dad, you’re so annoying!"

Su Yue’er playfully pouted and whimpered, her delicate voice instantly made Su Sikong’s bones soften.

He couldn’t stop laughing.

In the room, the commanding officer was reporting his findings to the stern-faced man.

"...We found no suspicious signs before, only when we reached that house did I feel there was sothing unusual. However, I couldn’t figure out exactly what was wrong. However, I thought that if the fugitive had really abandoned the mountains, he definitely sought a doctor considering his injuries. And, the girl in the house is the only doctor nearby, so I ordered to set up camp..."

"Hmm, well done!"

The stern-faced man nodded, his eyes showing a hint of appreciation.

He stood up and paced around the room for a mont.

"According to your observations, I also feel there’s sothing off about that place. Take there to investigate now."

"Yes, sir!"

The commanding officer imdiately replied: "You have such sharp eyes, sir. I’m sure you can figure it out."

"Enough with the flattery! Lead the way!"

The stern-faced man shook his head and smiled.

The commanding officer exchanged glances with the two deputy commanding officers, then imdiately led the way. A large group swiftly headed deep into the village.

Over at the Qin estate.

Seeing soldiers circling around the entrance, Su Pan’er decided, "Take down all the at and cook it."

This instantly brightened Qin Yi’s eyes, "I’m on it!"

Within a short ti, a rich aroma began to waft out of the house, imdiately catching the attention of the famished soldiers outside as they sniffed the air.

After a mont of discussion, the soldiers were unable to resist their craving and barged in to snatch the at.

Under the angry yet voiceless watch of Su Pan’er and the others, they swaggered off with their ill-gotten food.

"They’ve taken the beast at, what are we to do next?"

Qin Yi glanced at Ye Han on the bedside and couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.

Su Pan’er stood by the window, arms folded, couldn’t help but smirk as she watched the soldiers grab the beast at through a crack in the window.

"There isn’t much to do, we’ve only got one thing to do! Wait!"

Wait for what?

Qin Yi looked up at the sky. Night had already fallen, unnoticed.

Su Pan’er glanced at Ye Han at the bedside, but said nothing more.

She turned to go into the house, fiddled for a while, and when she ca out again, she had a lump of grey mud in her hand.

"This dicine can stimulate a person’s potential. Simply put, it mortgages a person’s life, significantly enhancing their combat power."

She strode to the bedside: "The commanding officer and deputy commanding officer outside have left, if I’m not mistaken, they must’ve gone to et those disguised officials. How you decide to proceed is up to you."

She dropped the mud lump on the bed whilst yawning and rubbing her eyes, "I’m tired, I’m going back to my room to sleep a bit."

On her way out, she nonchalantly scooped up Ke’er too.

Qin Yi looked at Ye Han on the bedside, wanted to say sothing but didn’t, instead he followed into the house, and the bamboo curtain fell.

Slowly, Ye Han opened his eyes.

He turned his gaze to the mud lump beside him, and to his surprise, discovered a slip of paper underneath it. He reached out a trembling hand, gripped it, and held it tight in his palm.

Gazing at the still swaying bamboo curtain, Ye Han fell silent.

The night grew increasingly dark and quiet.

The camps surrounding the old Qin residence were unusually tranquil, it seed as though there were no people inside.

Distant cries of startled birds fluttering their wings and flying away broke the surrounding silence.

Then, a series of rapid footsteps ca from the foot of the mountain.

People in the camp were imdiately alerted.

A number of soldiers rushed out of the tents, igniting their torches.

This commotion naturally alerted Su Pan’er and the others as well.

Su Pan’er sat cross-legged at the bedside, quietly tinkering with sothing. Beside her sat Ke’er, also silent. anwhile, Qin Yi was deep in thought on another chair.

At the sound of the commotion outside, all three of them lifted their heads and looked at each other.

"Finally, they have co!"

Su Pan’er gave a soft sigh and slowly rose to her feet.

Qin Yi also stood up, took a step forward, and grasped Su Pan’er’s hand tightly, "Pan’er, this ti, let go first."

Su Pan’er’s body jerked!

She looked at him involuntarily.

His eyes were full of determination and his strong gaze was almost blinding, holding her gaze without faltering even slightly!

Su Pan’er unconsciously nodded slightly.

"Alright! You rember, I will be right beside you."

"Mm!"

Qin Yi smiled, a smile as warm as a spring breeze, "You also rember, I will always, always be with you, never leaving you!"

Her heart inexplicably quivered!

Their entwined hands were so hot that she could hardly hold them!

A wave of warmth rose to her eyes, a thousand words stuck in her chest, yet she could not utter a single one.
