A leopard compared to a group of wild boars is definitely more troubleso to deal with!
After a group of people finally managed to escape from the wild boars and even harvested a delicious al, the day had already dawned!
The two young huntsn even refused to continue walking to death; after discussing, they decided to leave most of the people behind to continue the search and a few would descend the mountain. They also planned to organize more manpower to ascend the mountain again.
Su Ke understood as well that after experiencing so many setbacks, nobody wanted to venture into the mountains again.
Thus, once the decision to descend was made, those who were nad ran as fast as they could, with smiles beaming across their faces.
But Su Ke understood even more!
Not to ntion Fourth Brother-in-law wanted to inter the late emperor and his birth mother’s remains together, those remains themselves were gathered by Valley of Ghosts back in the day. Knowing the elusiveness of Valley of Ghosts, they must have buried the remains within their territory, not just anywhere at random.
You see, on Deicide Mountain the wildlife is abundant; bones of buried animals can be easily dug up, let alone human remains?
Yet, His Majesty had such intentions, and as his subjects, naturally, they needed to alleviate the monarch’s worries...
Little Shitou stealthily moved closer to his side, ensuring no one noticed them, and then whispered.
"Young master, for this matter, so many have already died. What if we just find any remains... and send them to His Majesty?" He gently nudged Su Ke’s arm; the implication was clear.
Su Ke did not respond, rely shaking his head.
The idea surfaced in his mind whenever soone died because of this.
Yet, Su Ke felt that Fourth Brother-in-law was not a foolish ruler; why was he so insistent? Perhaps there were details he was unaware of.
With that thought, he was even less inclined to randomly gather remains just to make up the numbers.
When they descended the mountain, Su Ke did not allow the two huntsn to leave. His movents were always secretive, and those who could reveal his whereabouts he naturally would not keep; however, he ultimately wasn’t ruthless enough and didn’t wish to increase killings, so he could only continue to keep the two with him.
Once off the mountain, he went straight to Qin Mansion.
Before they even had a mont’s rest, he received news that Old Cheng and Venerable Priest Liao Chen had arrived! Excitent rose in his heart, as they now had manpower! He imdiately rushed to et the two.
Qin Shuang’er, who had followed Old Cheng and Venerable Priest Liao Chen and also arrived, did not care that it was the middle of the night, upon returning to Luoyan Village, the first thing she did was head to Qin Mansion to find Su Ke.
Just as she reached and saw Su Ke coming out of Qin Mansion, unfortunately, they ended up following Old Cheng and Venerable Priest Liao Chen together.
En route, they were captured and detained together.
The reason Qin Shuang’er had slipped out of Capital City was originally to find Su Ke, although they were now captured, the two being held together unintentionally fulfilled her wish. Her heart secretly rejoiced, and she couldn’t help but steal glances at him.
"Looking at you, you seem quite pleased?"
Su Ke, who was standing by the window looking at the scenery, suddenly spoke.
Though they didn’t know who had captured them and locked them here, since the captor had thrown them into the room yet hadn’t restricted their freedom, it appeared the captor was confident that they wouldn’t escape his grasp!
"What am I pleased about? I’m just checking, thinking of how to escape!"
Qin Shuang’er struggled to justify herself, turning her head away: "You’re standing by the window, I’m looking outside to see if there’s a way to escape, who’s being pleased here?"
"Heh, you..."
Su Ke sighed and shook his head, moving to sit beside her: "The currents at Shuanghekou are too rapid, though we’re currently just by the riverbank, facing the river through the window. But I’m afraid of water, and you can’t swim at all; there’s no way we can consider crossing the river by floating."
Su Ke used to swim when he was younger, but ever since Su Yue’er pushed him into the river from the embanknt, he had developed a fear of water. Later, when Su Pan’er had fallen into the water right before his eyes, trying to save him and Little Yan Yan’s lives, his fear of water only deepened. Crossing the river by floating was definitely not an option.
Unable to escape via the water, they would have to think of another way.
"Shall we try another thod?"
Qin Shuan’er suggested.
"Don’t spout nonsense."
Su Ke scolded, pointing towards the outside and then at his own ear, "Aren’t you supposed to be getting married? How co you’re here?"
His words imdiately turned Qin Shuan’er’s face red!
One wrong step leads to another!
She didn’t want to settle for that arranged marriage, that’s why she had fled and followed Su Ke here.
But how could a girl like her say these things out loud?
Yet, keeping silent, and seeing Su Ke’s pressing gaze, she didn’t know how to express the suffocating feeling in her heart!
At the mont she glared, "What’s it to you? Neither my father nor my mother have said anything about it! Why do you care what I do! Humph!"
After speaking, she sat down with her back to him and closed her eyes.
Su Ke had originally planned to have a good talk with her. But seeing her attitude, he ended up keeping his mouth shut.
Forget it!
This place wasn’t suitable for talking anyway!
Better to wait until they had figured out a way to leave before discussing anything.
However, thinking of a way wasn’t easy. Su Ke had tried to leave through the door, but it was always locked. Even though soone delivered als thrice a day, they spoke not a word, no matter how hard they tried to communicate or sche, there was no progress.
However, being stuck in the sa room with Qin Shuan’er for many days had given them both so calm ti together.
Qin Shuan’er’s feelings for him, Su Ke understood. As for his own thoughts, he was clear about them as well.
"What are you trying to say? Just say it! Damn it!"
After holding back for several days, Qin Shuan’er couldn’t help but her eyes welled up, "Thinking back to when we were younger, you weren’t like this. Back then, you used to follow around, I..."
Su Ke, currently stressed about how to escape from here, frowned when Qin Shuan’er made a fuss. He glanced back at her before resuming his thoughts.
"Don’t think that I have no way to deal with you if you don’t speak."
Qin Shuan’er bit her lip, spoke halfway, and then upon eting his gaze again, swallowed the rest of her words.
She turned her head away.
Mumbling, "All you n are really no good!"
Su Ke in front of her was just like that detestable Mr. Zhang!
Co to think of it, her impulsive decision to flee the marriage and escape from Shengjing was a desperate move. Even now, she would be too ashad to go back!
But Su Ke, this blockhead, didn’t utter a single word, how could she not be anxious?
With that thought, she angrily walked up to him, "Hey! What are you thinking exactly? Say sothing!"
"Shush!—"
Su Ke suddenly covered her mouth, pointing outside, "Don’t talk, soone’s coming!"
