Imp to Demon King: A Journey of Conquest Chapter 355: The Godslayer’s Bite
Adam shuddered in horror at the Fury’s smarts. She was right. Attacking was one way among many to force him into submission—the least cruel considering the others.
He snapped his head toward Garduck, roaring. "Run to Tartarus without looking back!"
However, gaera didn’t even wait for his words to fade. She licked her red lips, gripped one of the three leather belts tying her waist, and swung it like a whip.
SLASH
The noise almost shattered his eardrums. Heart sinking like a broken ship, he squinted through the divine radiance it emitted—just in ti to see the leather about to coil around his general’s neck like a serpent.
’Forget the horror. Protect and send him away.’ Thoughts and emotions hustled in his mind during this split second—this decisive mont. A cold sensation on his left wrist, a golden bracelet, a mory of gratitude. ’The gratitude’s embrace bracelet!’
With a thought, he poured his essence into the bracelet.
The runes circling its surface sparked for the first ti with a thunderous buzz. Golden wisps twirled, weaving ethereal shields around Garduck. So were round, others octagonal, but both forms made his eyes widen at the intricate grooves, golden flourishes intertwining by the edges, and depictions of old dwarfs exuding airs of wisdom and mysticism.
The belt lashed on them with a clang powerful enough to split a mountain. They trembled before the grooves brightened and the dwarfs’ eyes ignited a warm light. The shields’ trembling diminished, the impact dissipated by his subjects’ loyalty.
Adam saw gaera’s distracted frown. ’An opportunity!’
His hands blurred faster than his thoughts. His hamr’s beak crackled with lightning and smashed at her left pauldron. Descending on her right, his god slayer’s plasma roared with a vengeance as if the only thing it wished for was to dig into the goddess’ skin, drink her blood, and charr her bones.
BAM
A divine ward suddenly ford, protecting her skin before the hamr reached it. The lightning spread on its sanctified surface, gaera smirking behind its protection... until the god slayer bit into it, that is.
Her lips crooked while he grinned as the resistance faded under his swing. How could it not when she was far from an Olympian, and his blade’s only purpose was to obliterate those bastards? Divine shields and blessings were half less effective against it!
"RAH!"
With a bolstering roar, he pierced her defense. The air sizzled, his target’s skin brightened, yet gaera’s smile returned. Mortals had tried to wound gods since the dawn of tis, but none managed to.
But rules were ant to be broken and this one wouldn’t apply to him! Not when he had crafted sothing the system called an aberration!
"My blade is made of my own energy! It boosts its potency by 150% and deals double the damage to any divine creature!"
Her skin split open, blood evaporating in a red haze as her eyes widened. Leaping back before the plasma blade dug deeper, she clutched her right shoulder with a pained grimace.
How could she sll her own carbonised skin? A re mortal did this? Preposterous!
"Your soul is mine, ant!" Her fingers, akin to vulture’s talons, glinted as she crouched. Yet, she shuddered and froze. "What?!"
She turned, yet no one was behind her. So why did she feel as if a raspy tongue had just licked her back? Her back?! Why was there a marking behind her shoulder?
anwhile, Adam’s worried lips curled into a full-blown smirk. If the visible enchantnts stumped her, she could dream of discovering the very first one he had activated: lust’s allure.
Insidiously undetectable, it had distracted her from the beginning and still did. And now that he had wounded her, the others roared to life, the first accompanied by a system notification.
[The god slayer’s Gluttony’s Maw enhancent has stolen 50.000 units of divine energy from gaera, the Fury of rage and jealousy.]
A rush of essence made his veins throb with power. Better, the wrath’s onslaught increased his damage by five percent each second. Even if the energy stolen suggested she was four tis stronger than him, he could win with those effects!
Plasma roiled from his skin’s crevices, shaping dozens of lifelike illusions of him around the Fury. They charged together, each concealing a static spear of crackling black fire behind them.
gaera reacted to the noise instantly. Yet, her arms didn’t move like she wanted, as if the air had beco a swamp hindering her. "What in Olympus is happening?!"
Again, the question stole a part of her attention when, usually, she would have just adapted to the change. And in this fleeting mont, Adam’s illusions lunged into front flips, their raised weapons drawing scarlet and silvery arcs toward her head.
"Not a chance in Tartarus!" She roared, stomping her foot in rage a split second before impact.
Flas as bright as her hair weaved into a circle around her, then burst upward in a raging inferno. She watched the illusions fade, laughing. "I’m rage incarnate, personified in flas, mortal! Die in their embrace and regret opposing !"
But her triumph didn’t last. Instead, dread gripped her heart and horror settled in her guts like a rock as Adam’s voice echoed behind her—outside of her flas.
"And here I sent the illusions to test your authority, fearing it would be sothing terrifying. But fire?" A smug smirk split his face. "You’re truly unlucky, aren’t you, ’Goddess’?"
He stretched his palm, the infernal pillar shuddering more than gaera. It tilted, rushing to his palm, compelled by a force they couldn’t resist. Two seconds later, he closed it, the heat, cracklings, and protection gone.
Simultaneously, the stationary spears beca more intricate and denser as he returned them their velocity.
WOOSH
They whistled from all directions, closing on their prey in a perfect circle.
gaera gasped in pure horror. There was no space to dodge and this ancient and unholy sorcery... How could it allow a mortal to increase his strength using her divine authority?
Distracting thoughts again! She gritted her teeth and clenched an amulet from her breasts. Without wasting a second, she imbued her divine energy inside while her voice cracked with a slightly desperate edge. "Sisters!"
