"She, what should we do?"

Atop Wutong Peak, She Zhihong and two others were gathered in a secret chamber. They had already received the ssage from Mu Yunqing.

"Do we really have to take action..." Ning Qingzhong spoke again, his expression full of hesitation.

This was getting troubleso.

Mu Yunqing was actually asking them to kill Wen Zhixing. If this matter were exposed, their deaths would be imminent. Ning Shan would certainly not let them off. Last ti, they hadn’t done anything and were nearly killed.

"She?" Song Zidong also turned his gaze to She Zhihong.

The three of them were now grasshoppers on the sa rope.

She Zhihong remained silent, frowning. After a long pause, a trace of ruthlessness flashed across his face. He uttered a single word, "Kill."

"She, but..." Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong still hesitated.

"We’ve already boarded a pirate ship; we have no choice," She Zhihong said, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes slightly.

"Then let’s kill him! That Wen Zhixing really deserves to die. Last ti, he even frad us for harming him. Damn it, kill him!" Song Zidong also shot up and declared.

"Alright, kill him!" Ning Qingzhong also found his courage.

If that was the case, then they might as well make it clean: destroy the corpse and eliminate all traces.

"Wait!" Just then, She Zhihong spoke. "Not so fast."

"She?"

"I have a plan that can absolve us of any connection." She Zhihong seed to recall sothing, a smile playing on the corners of his mouth.

"She, hurry and tell us," Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong urged, their eyes lighting up.

"Find Zhang Tiancheng. He’s also one of Mu Yunqing’s people. Let him do it, and we’ll just support from the sidelines." A fierce light flashed in She Zhihong’s eyes.

"Zhang Tiancheng?" Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong were startled. They hesitated, "But Zhang Tiancheng seems to be on good terms with Wen Zhixing."

"Heh, if he doesn’t do it, then he can die too. It’s no great loss." She Zhihong smiled faintly, glanced at the two, and said aningfully, "In this world, no one can withstand being tested, can they..."

Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong were stunned, then a knowing glint appeared in their eyes.

"Let’s go. A re Wen Zhixing isn’t worth us dirtying our own hands," She Zhihong said, standing up with a smile.

Song Zidong and Ning Qingzhong’s expressions also turned ruthless.

They had already passed the point of no return.

...

anwhile, Wen Zhixing was about to return to his dwelling, quietly waiting for the storm to gather.

Wait, it seems I’ve forgotten sothing, he thought, his stride halting.

Right, Wang Shouzhen... He suddenly rembered Zhang Tiancheng and Wang Shouzhen. Just a few days ago, he had promised to protect them, but he hadn’t expected trouble to arrive so quickly.

With that thought, Wen Zhixing changed direction. He headed for the thatched cottage where Wang Shouzhen was staying.

He wasn’t trying to be a re do-gooder, he mused. But that Wang Shouzhen is soone with great fortune, destined for great things. Even though I’m leaving, I should leave a good impression.

If I’m lucky, I might even collect a few more high-grade Fortune Fragnts, Wen Zhixing thought to himself. The Fortune Fragnts on Wang Shouzhen are all top-quality.

It was already past midnight. A new day had begun, aning Fortune Fragnts could be collected again.

Wen Zhixing hastened his steps, soon arriving at the row of familiar thatched cottages.

He observed for a mont and was surprised to find no other furnaces residing there. It seems everyone has been managing quite well these past few days, he thought. At least they haven’t been drained dry.

As soon as Wen Zhixing approached Wang Shouzhen’s dwelling, a panel prompt appeared:

[Fortune Fragnt detected, would you like to consu one month of life-span to randomly collect it?]

Sure enough, more fortune, Wen Zhixing mused with a faint smile. It’s just as I expected. The only question is whether it’s a high-grade Fortune Fragnt.

BOOM!

Just at that mont, a muffled explosion reached Wen Zhixing’s ears. A wave of dissipating energy fluctuations ca from ahead.

This... What is this aura...? Wen Zhixing’s eyes narrowed slightly. He felt an eerie power sweeping toward him, making goosebumps rise on his skin. Fortunately, before it touched him, the force dissipated in midair.

Is this the power Wang Shouzhen has awakened? Wen Zhixing was slightly alard. This power is clearly extraordinary.

"Ah!" At that mont, a suppressed scream ca from inside the house.

Wen Zhixing paused for a mont, then quickly stepped inside.

"Wang, what’s wrong?" Wen Zhixing called out before even stepping into Wang Shouzhen’s hut.

ROAR! Another almost inhuman roar followed. Wen Zhixing no longer hesitated and dashed into the room.

He saw Wang Shouzhen writhing on the ground in agony. A faintly frenzied aura emanated from his body, as if he were enduring trendous pain.

"Senior Brother... Wen..." Upon hearing the voice, Wang Shouzhen forced himself to look up. His blood-red eyes were filled with violence and madness. His once simple and honest face was now covered with strange black patterns. These black patterns seed alive, undulating with his breath, looking incredibly sinister.

The Power of the Curse? Wen Zhixing frowned deeply. He sensed a familiar energy. This force is very much like the Power of the Curse, but... it’s sowhat different.

"Senior Brother Wen... leave! Ah!" Wang Shouzhen suddenly clutched his head, then began to violently slam it against the ground.

"Wang, control your mind!" Wen Zhixing exclaid, shocked.

ROAR! The next mont, Wang Shouzhen tilted his head back and let out a long howl. Terrifying fangs grew from his mouth. The eerie aura completely enveloped his body, and he seed to have lost all control. His pupils turned completely crimson. Then, his figure flashed, becoming an afterimage as he lunged at Wen Zhixing.

He’s lost control, Wen Zhixing thought, frowning. His figure shot backward as he shouted, "Wang, co to your senses!"

As his words fell, a golden, lightning-wreathed thunderball materialized in his palm. Thunder Arts, inherently strong and yang, specialized in countering such eerie forces.

BOOM! With a deafening roar, Wang Shouzhen was blasted away.

CRACKLE!

"AH!" Golden arcs of lightning engulfed him, and a pained scream tore from within.

Wang Shouzhen clutched his head, consud by excruciating pain.

It’s working! Wen Zhixing’s eyes lit up at the sight. The Palm Thunder can actually counteract that strange force! he realized. It even made so of the black patterns on Wang Shouzhen’s face recede!

"Again!" In the next instant, Wen Zhixing controlled its power, and the Palm Thunder condensed once more.

"Palm Thunder!"

BOOM!

"AH!"

Wang Shouzhen’s body convulsed violently again, but his consciousness seed to be slowly recovering.

"Almost there! Palm Thunder!" Wen Zhixing glanced at Wang Shouzhen and launched another strike.

"AHHH!!!" Wang Shouzhen let out an intense scream, his body shaking uncontrollably.

Hmm? Still not recovered? Wen Zhixing frowned, then thrust his right hand forward again. "Palm Thunder!"

"DON’T!!!" Just then, Wang Shouzhen’s consciousness snapped back. His eyes flew open, and he blurted out, "Senior Brother, stop! If you use Palm Thunder again, you’ll kill !"
