"Collect the Fortune Fragnt."
With a thought, Wen Zhixing directly collected the Fortune Fragnt. He wanted to see who it was. As long as he opened a Gray Fortune Fragnt, he would know who was inside.
[White Fortune Fragnt 1.]
[Current White Fortune Fragnts: 1/2.]
As luck would have it, Wen Zhixing had actually drawn a White Fortune Fragnt this ti.
... Wen Zhixing was speechless.
No problem, it’s not a big deal. I’ll just draw another one, he thought.
[Blue Fortune Fragnt 1.]
[Current Blue Fortune Fragnts: 1/3.]
? Wen Zhixing was puzzled.
What did this an? He wanted to draw a Gray Fortune Fragnt, but he got a White one, then a Blue one, he wondered.
"Continue drawing."
Wen Zhixing took a deep breath.
[Purple Fortune Fragnt 1.]
[Current Purple Fortune Fragnts: 2/4.]
???
Wen Zhixing was stunned.
A Purple Fortune Fragnt actually ca out? Previously, ti and ti again, it was always Gray Fortune Fragnts, but today, not a single Gray Fortune Fragnt? He didn’t know if this was good luck or bad luck, as this was the first ti he had encountered such a situation.
Is it Qiu Yinger, Yun Xinyue, or Ning Shan?
Wen Zhixing pondered slightly. The person who would brazenly enter his dwelling could only be one of these few.
Zhang Tiancheng would only wait for him outside and wouldn’t actively co in.
Wen Zhixing mused for a mont and, without much hesitation, ultimately chose to confront the situation.
Anyway, he couldn’t escape it. Lately, he had always felt like soone wanted to harm him, which had led him to be sowhat overly cautious.
「Inside the house.」
The lights were bright, and a cool breeze drifted by, human shadows swaying with it. Qiu Yinger, dressed in a teal robe, was propping her chin with both hands, sprawled out on a stone bench. At this mont, she seed to have lost the arrogance she previously displayed, gazing blankly at a certain spot, dazed.
"Qiu."
Wen Zhixing walked slowly towards her. Just as I expected, he thought upon entering. He was right; it was indeed one of those three.
"Wen."
Qiu Yinger ca back to her senses and turned her eyes towards Wen Zhixing. In an instant, her deanor was restored, and she once again beca the aloof Qiu Yinger.
"Qiu, why are you not resting at this late hour?" Wen Zhixing asked in an even tone.
As he did so, he suddenly felt a bit hungry. He casually took out a Wondrous Soul-devouring Pill and tossed it into his mouth.
"So comfortable."
An intoxicating sensation imdiately rushed to his head. Wen Zhixing did not activate the Clear Heart Incantation, instead allowing himself to fully relish the pleasure.
Seeing this, Qiu Yinger frowned. She knew Wen Zhixing was purposely eating it in front of her.
"Wen, have you taken an interest in array thods recently?" Qiu Yinger asked.
"What, Qiu, do you wish to teach ?" Wen Zhixing replied with a grin, a frivolous smile on his face. Under the influence of the Wondrous Soul-devouring Pill, his deanor beca wanton.
Qiu Yinger seed to dislike soone behaving so recklessly in front of her. She then let out a cold laugh. "Wen, you can drop the act. The Wondrous Soul-devouring Pill is useless on you."
The smile remained on Wen Zhixing’s face, but his heart sank.
How could this be? How did Qiu Yinger know that the Wondrous Soul-devouring Pill was ineffective on him? Or was she trying to bluff him?
Qiu Yinger stood up, chuckling behind her hand. "Wen, do you think a person addicted to the Wondrous Soul-devouring Pill would have the composure to study array thods?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Zhixing’s expression slowly sobered, and then he laughed again. "So that’s how it is. I was indeed shortsighted."
He really hadn’t noticed that point. Indeed, how could a muddle-headed ’addict’ like him, who muddled through his days, possibly beco engrossed in the study of array thods?
"Tell , what do you want?" Wen Zhixing casually sat down on a nearby stone bench. At this point, there was no use pretending anymore. Surprisingly little fear stirred in his heart; he was actually curious to see what Qiu Yinger intended to do to him.
"Wen, you’re a smart man," Qiu Yinger pursed her red lips, looking at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
"Qiu Yinger, we’ve already torn off all pretenses, so there’s no need to beat around the bush." Wen Zhixing casually poured a cup of water, pushed it towards Qiu Yinger, and asked, "Want a drink?"
Just as Qiu Yinger was about to take it, Wen Zhixing pulled the cup back. "Pour it yourself if you want so."
Qiu Yinger, however, didn’t get angry. Instead, she offered a faint smile and sat down. "Wen, what is it? You’re not afraid?"
Wen Zhixing didn’t answer, a hint of mockery appearing on his face instead. At this stage, what was the point of such words?
Qiu Yinger’s eyes narrowed, and she no longer beat around the bush. With a flip of her slender white hands, a glint of spiritual light erged in her palm. "Eat this, and from now on, you will be a core disciple of the Wondrous Palace."
"What is it?" Wen Zhixing frowned as he looked over. The object was enveloped in spiritual light, obscuring its appearance.
"A Heart-eating Venomous Worm." Qiu Yinger did not hide it, and the spiritual light in her hand slowly dissipated.
It was a small, blood-red insect, about the thickness of a thumb, its body translucent like a glass bead.
"A Heart-eating Venomous Worm..." Wen Zhixing’s eyes widened slightly.
"This Heart-eating Venomous Worm is a type of Mother-child Venomous Worm, personally refined by Master. One is here, and the other is in Master’s hands," Qiu Yinger continued slowly. "This Heart-eating Venomous Worm can beco intangible. Normally, it will be planted in your heart ridians, rging with them to beco one. With this venomous worm present, your whereabouts, and even your life and death, will no longer be under your control."
Wen Zhixing listened quietly throughout, his face showing no joy or sorrow.
"Wen Zhixing, what do you say? Are you willing to swallow this venomous worm and beco a core disciple of the Wondrous Palace?" Qiu Yinger’s eyes were fixed intently on Wen Zhixing.
"Do I have a choice?" Wen Zhixing remained calm.
"No." Qiu Yinger smiled, appearing utterly harmless.
"So, I’ll be a core disciple after this?"
"Naturally."
Wen Zhixing asked again, "And what’s the status of a core disciple?"
"Equal to mine." Qiu Yinger smiled.
"Oh? Then you’ve truly given a great gift," Wen Zhixing said aningfully, then without further hesitation, declared, "Give the venomous worm!"
He knew he couldn’t escape. If he didn’t eat this venomous worm, his fate might be even worse. However, on the surface, he could beco a core disciple. That was indeed a good thing.
Qiu Yinger smiled in satisfaction, extending her slender white hand to place the Heart-eating Venomous Worm before him.
Wen Zhixing didn’t even look at it and directly stuffed it into his mouth.
He had expected so repulsive sensation, but to his surprise, the mont the Heart-eating Venomous Worm entered his mouth, it transford into an intangible wisp of air. It quickly made its way to his heart. Beneath it, countless tiny tendrils erged, burrowing into his heart.
The next mont, Wen Zhixing felt as if his heart was being pricked by countless needles. Imnse pain wracked his entire body. He clutched his chest, gritted his teeth, a look of agony on his face.
"Wen, it hurts a bit at first. Just bear with it; it’ll feel better soon," Qiu Yinger said with a giggle, feigning concern.
"Shut up!" Wen Zhixing suddenly raised his head, a fierce light in his eyes, glaring so intensely that it made her heart tremble. "I’ve already eaten the venomous worm. You can get out now."
"You!" Qiu Yinger’s face darkened instantly. She hadn’t expected Wen Zhixing to dare speak to her like that.
"Qiu, I am a core disciple now. Our statuses are equivalent—that’s what you just said. What, do you still think I’m so furnace for you to use?" Wen Zhixing scoffed, enduring the pain in his chest.
He knew that if he just endured a little longer, this ordeal would be over. But he couldn’t take it anymore.
"Wen Zhixing, are you aware that words can bring disaster?" Qiu Yinger gritted her teeth.
"You could enlighten ," Wen Zhixing replied, slowly standing up with utter disdain.
By now, he was certain that Qiu Yinger wouldn’t dare kill him. Since I’m not going to die, what’s there to be afraid of? He was the type to casually slash himself with a sword when bored. Why would he fear Qiu Yinger’s threats?
"Such audacity!" Qiu Yinger was enraged. "You deserve a good slapping!" Her slender white hand rose, ready to strike, but Wen Zhixing, seizing the initiative, struck first.
One large hand clamped down on her wrist. His other hand swung down with great force.
SMACK!
A crisp, loud slapping sound echoed, and vivid finger marks appeared on Qiu Yinger’s face.
