Every household’s doors and windows were tightly shut.

On the main street, let alone a crowd, there were hardly a few vendors to be seen.

These vendors, each with a face pale as death, were filled with an air of intense fear and panic.

If they had any other choice, they wouldn’t co out to set up their stalls to make money.

Most crucially, outside the city gate, there wasn’t even a guard in sight.

Clearly, the governnt office of this place had already ceased to function.

At the sa ti, paper money hung outside many houses.

The houses themselves were long deserted; whether their forr occupants had been devoured or had already fled was unknown.

"Luqiu, the demons here have beco more rampant than before," Wen Zhixing said. Gazing at the scene before them, both he and Bai Luqiu furrowed their brows.

In just a few short days, so new ominous events must have unfolded here.

"Excuse , sir..." Wen Zhixing approached a bystander, producing several taels of silver in his hand, wanting to ask about the situation with the demons.

However, upon hearing the word "demon," all the people there imdiately changed expression and avoided the subject as if it were taboo.

They even began to pack up to go ho.

Even with silver offered, they dared not say another word.

Fear had overco their greed for money.

"Wen, let’s go!" Bai Luqiu urged, her eyes hardening as she sensed the escalating trouble.

Under such circumstances, it was likely that the disciples of the Righteous Sun Sect had t with misfortune.

The local authorities might shrink away and not intervene, but the disciples of the Righteous Sun Sect wouldn’t.

Realizing this, the two quickened their pace, hurriedly crossing several streets before arriving outside a residence.

The residence wasn’t large, simply a temporary resting place for the disciples of the Righteous Sun Sect.

However, the door was already broken, and copious amounts of dark red blood were splattered upon it.

"This is bad!"

Shocked by the sight, they both dashed into the house.

Inside, chaos reigned.

The once exquisite residence was now in ruins, with bloodstains splattered everywhere. Had there been corpses present, it would have closely resembled hell on Earth.

Following the trail of blood, the two could even make out evidence of the battle that had occurred.

It was clear that it had been a one-sided fight.

We’re too late, Bai Luqiu thought, her heart sinking. It was evident that a demon had boldly attacked, either capturing all the Righteous Sun Sect’s disciples or consuming them on the spot.

Wen Zhixing’s eyes narrowed as well. It seems the demon’s strength has recovered significantly. It has even started to dare consu disciples of the Righteous Sun Sect!

"This demon has so nerve!" Bai Luqiu was both shocked and furious, flas of anger burning in her eyes.

Since when had the Righteous Sun Sect suffered such provocation!

"Luqiu, don’t rush—our fellow disciples are surely still alive. Let’s go to the local official building and see," Wen suggested, moving closer. He saw the back door wide open, indicating that soone must have secretly fled that way.

Based on Wen Zhixing’s understanding of local official buildings, those establishnts usually managed to survive until the end. Heading to the official building was the right move.

"Let’s go and see."

Bai Luqiu suppressed her fluctuating breath and moved in the direction of the official building.

Her heart, however, grew increasingly heavy.

The demon scourge in this place was far worse than she had imagined.

「anwhile, elsewhere, Hua Yourong was leading others back to the Righteous Sun Sect.」

Hua Yourong’s flying spirit tool was a small spirit boat.

It wasn’t large, barely accommodating three people.

To take care of the injured, Hua Yourong took Liu Qingdai and Zhang Tiancheng aboard the spirit boat to proceed.

The others followed by flying alongside.

Zhang Tiancheng and Liu Qingdai both sat cross-legged, silently closing their eyes and recuperating.

Actually, Liu Qingdai was at that mont cultivating and contemplating the Clear Heart Incantation given to her by Wen Zhixing.

Why did Wen give this Clear Heart Incantation? Could it be that soone intends to disturb my mind? Liu Qingdai silently pondered as she cultivated.

We’ve left Five Peak County far behind now. That ans Wen was warning not about the demon, but sothing else. If not the demon, then the only possibility is... soone we’re traveling with! Soone I’m traveling with!

A jolt shot through Liu Qingdai’s heart.

Is there a traitor among these people around ? Hua Yourong!

Her mind raced through the possibilities.

Essentially, there are just two groups traveling together. One is Zhang Tiancheng. If Zhang Tiancheng were the problem, he should have made his move last night, instead of saving . So, it must be Hua Yourong and her party. It’s obvious that Shen Lingjun and the others all look to Hua Yourong as their leader. I didn’t notice anything amiss before, but now I’m starting to sense that sothing is off. If Hua Yourong is a problem, why would Luqiu have her escort us back? And if Wen knew, why didn’t he apprehend her on the spot?

Liu Qingdai furrowed her brows, sowhat puzzled.

With the strength of Bai Luqiu and Wen Zhixing, they could overpower more than just Hua Yourong; even if all of them attacked together, they would be no match for those two. Could it be...

Sothing suddenly occurred to Liu Qingdai. This Hua Yourong might not be the real Hua Yourong... And her strength could very well far surpass that of Wen Zhixing and Bai Luqiu.

Liu Qingdai took a deep breath, trying her best to stay calm.

At the sa ti, she cast aside all distracting thoughts and focused on comprehending the Clear Heart Incantation.

anwhile, at the prow of the spirit boat, Hua Yourong slightly turned her head.

Looking at Liu Qingdai before her, a barely perceptible smile touched her lips.

Hua Yourong didn’t make a move imdiately; acting now risked encountering reinforcents from the Righteous Sun Sect.

Instead, she chose to alter the spirit boat’s course, veering it away from the original route.

All for the sake of absolute certainty.

This is Liu Qingdai, after all. Liu Qingxuan’s precious daughter. If I can control her, I’ll have another significant bargaining chip to use against Liu Qingxuan.

「After a while.」

Hua Yourong and her party had already deviated far from their original direction.

"It’s about ti." Seeing this, Hua Yourong’s lips curled into a wanton smile.

Given Liu Qingdai’s identity, she was extrely cautious with this operation.

"Hua, where are you taking us?"

Just then, Liu Qingdai abruptly opened her eyes.

She had realized sothing was wrong even before this.

This was not the way back to the Righteous Sun Sect at all.

However, she hadn’t yet mastered the Clear Heart Incantation at that ti, so naturally, she hadn’t dared to speak out.

But now, it was clearly ti for the final showdown.

Zhang Tiancheng, beside her, also slowly opened his eyes but showed no other reaction.

"Do it!" Hua Yourong commanded, not bothering to speak to Liu Qingdai, simply flicking her gaze towards the four people behind her.

"Hua Yourong, what are you trying to do!" Liu Qingdai’s heart tightened, and she abruptly stood up, her entire being darting swiftly to escape.

As expected! My guess was right, and so was the information from Wen Zhixing!

WHOOSH!

Just then, two figures appeared rapidly by her side.

At the sa ti, a rope snaked around her, clinging like an intractable disease!

Liu Qingdai was shocked and flailed her arms desperately.

However, already injured, she could barely muster any of her strength.

Soon, she was subdued by Shen Lingjun and the others, bundled up like a rice dumpling.

"Lord." The group brought Liu Qingdai directly before Hua Yourong.

"Hua Yourong, have you gone mad!" Liu Qingdai lay face down on the ground, yet still lifted her head, her eyes glaring furiously.

Even as a prisoner, she retained her imposing air.

"Tsk tsk, worthy of being Liu Qingxuan’s daughter. You really do look like him." Hua Yourong used the tip of her shoe to lift Liu Qingdai’s face.

At this mont, Liu Qingdai reminded her of Liu Qingxuan’s youthful and spirited appearance from many years ago.

"Disgusting!" Hua Yourong’s smile instantly vanished, her expression hardening as she stamped her foot down fiercely!

"What this palace master despises most is the two of you, father and daughter!"

"Ah..." Liu Qingdai was ruthlessly trampled under Hua Yourong’s foot, her face contorted, pressed hard against the deck of the spirit boat.

It wasn’t so much the pain, but a surge of imnse humiliation that instantly overwheld her.

"Hua... You... Rong!" Liu Qingdai forced the words out through clenched teeth.

A spiritual light flickered around her body, erupting with a startling killing intent.

"Hmph!" Hua Yourong paid Liu Qingdai no mind. A devil seed materialized in her palm, and she imdiately pressed it to Liu Qingdai’s forehead.

The devil seed instantly entered within.

"Heh, from now on, you’ll accompany to the Wonderous Palace. I’ll arrange a few furnaces for you, to ensure you thoroughly enjoy yourself," Hua Yourong suddenly covered her mouth and chuckled, her eyes brimming with cold malice.
