Immortal Huanglong briefly explained the conflict that arose between him and Shiji.
Starting roughly a century ago, the conflict between Chan and Jie sects in the East Continent cultivation world grew increasingly intense. Although the disciples of the two sects hadn’t directly started magical combat, they were already secretly beginning to confront each other.
With the rivalry flaring on both sides, the ’cross-sect romance’ between Huanglong and Shiji began to undergo tests.
At first, Shiji asked Huanglong to diate so sect disputes, and Huanglong naturally did not refuse, using his appearances to give Dragon himself face.
Later, rumors began to circulate within the Jie sect, especially among Shiji’s circle of friends.
’Immortal Huanglong shows up to diate for those sects, deliberately flaunting the magnanimity of Chan Teaching, thereby calling us Jie Sect narrow-minded.’
’Exactly, several tis when our sect was about to win, Immortal Huanglong intervened to side with the opposition.’
’That Huanglong, relying on his past support for the Heavenly Court and his background as Ancestral Dragon’s son and a Saint’s disciple, keeps asking for face. His face is quite large indeed.’
Immortal Huanglong overheard this during a banquet of the Jie sect, without intending it.
Immortal Huanglong was naturally displeased and couldn’t help but complain to Shiji after returning to his cave.
Though Shiji’s temperant is also considered gentle, she didn’t want Huanglong to be wronged like this, especially since Huanglong always intervened at her request.
She turned to confront those people, but with so many talkative and gossipy people in Jie sect, the issue began to escalate.
Many idle-talking Jie sect immortals, not particularly skilled nor famous, loved stirring trouble behind the scenes.
Negative comnts about Shiji and Huanglong gradually spread across the Immortal Isles.
So immortals said: ’Shiji just ingratiated herself with Immortal Huanglong, and after she got close to him, her status in the sect rose significantly. How could she originally enter the circle of Jinao Island? Now she is a welcod guest at Jinao Island.’
Another immortal said: ’If Chan and Jie sects must have a battle, which side would Huanglong and Shiji help? Why not let them have a fight in bed, decide the winner and the loser, and determine superiority and inferiority.’
Moreover, so immortals began directly spreading rumors:
’Huanglong is a spy sent by Chan Teaching, here to infiltrate and discover the truths within our Jie sect.’
’Huanglong is here to deliberately sabotage our sect luck; he possesses Dragon Clan secret techniques.’
’Chan Teaching operates covertly, and Huanglong keeps showing up as a diator to increase his reputation within Jie sect. Once the timing is right, he will cripple us from underneath!’
’Huanglong is truly insidious.’
These words reached the ears of Shiji and Huanglong, and initially, they pretended not to hear, even avoiding the sect by hiding away.
Yet, the rift between them had already begun to erge.
And as the conflict between Chan and Jie intensified, so suspicion arose between Huanglong and Shiji.
When Shiji couldn’t hold back and asked:
"When the Investiture of the Gods Cataclysm falls, and Chan and Jie disciples inevitably battle, how should we, as dao companions, position ourselves?"
Their relationship formally entered a decline.
Main hall of Jade Void Palace.
Immortal Taiyi was asking: "So how did you respond to that question, brother?"
"How else could I answer?"
Immortal Huanglong muttered:
"You know too well, I am an honest dragon, naturally I answered honestly.
"Dao companions are dao companions, sects are sects, since I am among the Twelve Golden Immortals of Chan Teaching, deeply trusted by my teacher, I must stand on the side of Chan Teaching."
"And then?"
A voice of inquiry arose alongside.
Immortal Huanglong turned his head to see, his forehead instantly dotted with lines of frustration.
In the blink of an eye, three to five junior brothers stood behind him, all attentively watching him.
Huanglong’s heart ward slightly, mixed with so embarrassnt, yet he didn’t mind that his affairs were heard by his junior brothers.
He sighed again, then, appearing troubled, muttered:
"Then we just didn’t fit together anymore.
"She said she couldn’t abandon her brothers and sisters in Jie sect, and I said I couldn’t forsake my senior and junior brothers in Chan Teaching; we argued a few tis then."
"Although things gradually eased, as long as it concerned the conflict between the two sects, we inevitably argued."
"I can feel, the two of our hearts, moving further apart, constantly suspecting each other. Even the Jie sect immortals who beca familiar with because of her began, intentionally or unintentionally, avoiding ."
"Later, Ping’an returned from seclusion, changes occurred between heaven and earth, and heaven’s secrets could calculate so matters related to Daoist Celestial Consecration Tribulation. Although the East Continent temporarily ceased fighting, the tension between us and Jie sect grew greater."
"So, I ultimately left her cave and moved back to my original dwelling."
"But just yesterday... sigh!"
Immortal Taiyi took out celestial lon seeds obtained in Dong’an City, cracked them one by one, and curiously asked: "What happened yesterday?"
"Yesterday, Shiji brought two acquainted immortals, saying they wanted to co to Jade Void Palace to listen to lectures, and asked if I could lead them here."
Immortal Huanglong frowned and said:
"I just felt that sothing about this was odd."
"You all know, unlike us, Jie sect has many immortals and naturally sorted into different categories."
"Like the Eight Great Disciples, serving Seven Immortals, these top masters usually greet us with smiles, not engaging in direct conflict, though occasionally so verbal exchanges occur."
"But their lower ranks, these Jie sect immortals, they have sorted into three types."
"Those who dislike us, those who especially dislike us, and those who extrely dislike us."
Qingxu Daode Zhenjun nearly laughed aloud.
Huanglong said, feeling forlorn:
"The two immortals Shiji brought, I sensed they weren’t the amicable sort; Shiji was pleaded persistently by them and trapped by words, only seeking out reluctantly. Otherwise, Shiji, with her nature, still at odds with , wouldn’t just give in so easily.
