Those days, Wen Zhiyuan didn’t go far; he found a hotel near the hospital to stay.
For the first ti in eight years, he felt a sense of stability in his heart.
Only when he was closest to her did he feel the most at ease in his heart.
But she no longer liked him, and he wouldn’t force it; he would respect the choice she made.
Sotis, he would wander around the hospital with a scarf wrapped around him and would happen to see the butler accompanying Shen Di for a walk.
Shen Di’s complexion didn’t look good and had been like that for a while. They never walked for long, and the butler would always take her back.
Wen Zhiyuan’s gaze was always fixed on her face, never getting enough of it.
However, one ti, just as he was standing under a tree watching her from a short distance away, Shen Di suddenly took out her phone from her pocket and opened a photo.
Although they were far apart, Wen Zhiyuan saw it was a picture of him!
At that mont, his heart was filled with unknown feelings. Was it surprise? The surprise outweighed the joy!
Why would she keep his photo on her phone and sit on the bench repeatedly looking at it with a faint smile on her lips?
If she no longer loved him, why would she look at his pictures?
For the first ti, Wen Zhiyuan realized there were tis he didn’t understand her.
He thought he understood her, but now this little action of hers left him puzzled.
Or maybe, was he seeing things? Wasn’t it him in the photo?
This possibility was almost non-existent, yet Wen Zhiyuan still attempted to take a few steps closer to see more clearly.
But just then, Shen Di put away her phone and, with the help of the butler, walked back to her ward.
A leaf spiraled down and landed right on Shen Di’s shoulder.
Shen Di walked heavily, her face looking very unwell...
It wasn’t long before she disappeared from his sight, leaving him standing there feeling lost.
He thought he needed to understand so things.
Who knew how long he stood under the tree before Wen Zhiyuan dialed Qin Chen’s phone number.
For the first ti in eight years, Wen Zhiyuan dialed Qin Chen’s phone, and unexpectedly, his number hadn’t changed.
"Hello." Qin Chen no longer recognized Wen Zhiyuan’s number.
"Do you have ti?" Wen Zhiyuan asked.
Qin Chen recognized Wen Zhiyuan’s voice: "Mr. Wen?"
"It’s . If you have ti, co to the teahouse across the hospital. I need to ask you sothing."
Qin Chen’s tone revealed no emotions; he simply responded calmly: "I’m afraid I don’t have the ti."
"Then I’ll wait." Wen Zhiyuan insisted.
Qin Chen realized he couldn’t avoid Wen Zhiyuan, so he replied lightly: "Then wait for half an hour."
"Alright." Wen Zhiyuan hung up the phone.
The teahouse was run by locals and had a strong native flavor, with the familiar aroma of dostic tea wafting around.
Wen Zhiyuan only ordered a pot of Dragon Well tea, but he wasn’t interested in drinking it; he just sat quietly, waiting for Qin Chen to arrive.
Australia’s winter was almost over, and the sky here was blue, the air extrely pleasant.
Every season, he could be drawn into mories with Shen Di.
Qin Chen took off his white coat in his office and stood silently by the window.
So Wen Zhiyuan hadn’t returned to the country; where had he been these days? Did he et Shen Di? Did he suddenly call him because he found sothing out?
One question after another swirled in Qin Chen’s mind, but he thought none of them were really important.
No matter what Wen Zhiyuan discovered, he had the right to know the truth.
Half an hour later, Qin Chen walked out of the hospital and headed to the teahouse across the street.
He spotted Wen Zhiyuan imdiately; that man was sitting by the window, seemingly lost in thought, his gaze erratic.
"Mr. Wen." Qin Chen walked to his opposite.
"Mr. Qin." Wen Zhiyuan also nodded politely, motioning for him to sit down.
Although the two n were love rivals, Wen Zhiyuan was sowhat surprised; he could never feel hostility toward Qin Chen.
Qin Chen sat down and glanced at Wen Zhiyuan.
Wen Zhiyuan looked much more haggard than he had imagined, nothing like the Wen doctor at the fourth son’s wedding.
"You didn’t return to the country?" Qin Chen was the first to speak, asking.
"I can’t stop worrying about Adi." Wen Zhiyuan confessed, worry etched on his face.
The two n t alone, and the tension from eight years ago was no longer there; perhaps they had both matured, beco more responsible, and more at peace.
"With the butler and here, you don’t have to worry about anything." Qin Chen wasn’t sure how much Wen Zhiyuan knew, so he instinctively replied evasively.
"You don’t need to hide it from anymore; we are both doctors. I’ve seen Adi’s dical records." There was a tinge of regret on Wen Zhiyuan’s face.
In these eight years, he hadn’t been able to be by her side, and he felt guilty about it.
Though Shen Di didn’t necessarily need his company, he still felt he had failed her...
Qin Chen was taken aback; he hadn’t expected Wen Zhiyuan to get hold of Shen Di’s dical records.
Everything was in those records, and Wen Zhiyuan probably knew everything as well.
Qin Chen remained silent; asking him to speak so words himself would be too cruel.
"From tomorrow, let take care of Adi..." Wen Zhiyuan pleaded, "I love her far more deeply than you could imagine."
Qin Chen was also a deeply emotional person; he understood what kind of person Wen Zhiyuan was.
If Wen Zhiyuan didn’t love Shen Di so deeply, how could he remain unmarried for years, always keeping only her in his heart?
"But I am her fiancé." Qin Chen said.
"Just give a chance."
"Are you sure Adi wants to see you?" Qin Chen couldn’t make that decision.
"I’ll persuade her." Wen Zhiyuan frowned.
He wasn’t that confident, but no matter what, he wanted to accompany her through perhaps the last stretch of the journey.
Once again, Qin Chen fell silent. Looking at Wen Zhiyuan’s sincere eyes, he was lost in thought.
So truths, should he tell them to Wen Zhiyuan...
But if he didn’t, would it beco an eternal regret?
Wen Zhiyuan thought of the photo he had just seen on Shen Di’s phone, and he asked Qin Chen, "Mr. Qin, forgive for asking, does Adi still have feelings for ?"
He didn’t expect Qin Chen to give him any answer, nor did he expect this question might provoke Qin Chen.
But Qin Chen was much calr than he had imagined, as if he were pondering.
After a long ti, Qin Chen softly asked, "Mr. Wen, what made you suddenly ask this question?"
"To be honest, I saw my picture on Adi’s phone. I think it wouldn’t be brought up again after eight years if it were just a mory." Wen Zhiyuan also remained calm, but there was sothing he was hoping for in his heart.
For instance, that Shen Di still loved him...
Though it might be self-deception, it was better than endless disappointnt.
At this mont, Qin Chen decided not to hide anything from Wen Zhiyuan anymore.
The bond between Wen Zhiyuan and Shen Di had been forcibly severed, but between them, it ultimately couldn’t be cut off, nor could it be made clear.
He had accompanied Shen Di for eight years, yet he could never enter her heart; the person she loved had always been Wen Zhiyuan.
And he was rely a passerby.
