Xia Chuqing was startled: "I’m coming out, don’t co in!"
"I can’t walk through walls, you know." Xiao Mo replied irritably.
Xia Chuqing hastily put on her clothes. Little did she know, as she opened the door, she bumped right into Xiao Mo’s chest!
"Hey, what are you doing standing at the door? Are you up to sothing bad?" Xia Chuqing rubbed her forehead.
Xiao Mo wasn’t angry; instead, he smirked and pinned her against the wall, one hand propped against it. "What bad thing could I be doing?"
There was sothing suggestive and mischievous in his smile.
Xia Chuqing’s face turned red, and she lowered her head. "If you want to take a shower, go ahead. It’s getting late, and I’ve got work tomorrow."
She slipped past him like a little loach and dove onto her bed.
The fresh scent of body wash drifted to Xiao Mo’s nose, warming him up, with a burning sensation in his lower abdon.
He turned his head, averted his gaze, and went into the bathroom.
Booking a single room was clearly an ordeal for himself.
Xia Chuqing crawled under the covers and started recalling everything that happened earlier that night once she cald down.
She had left a terrible impression on Xiao Mo’s parents, but it didn’t matter anymore. She had long since abandoned the idea of becoming the daughter-in-law of the Xiao Family.
Just then, Xiao Mo’s phone rang. Xia Chuqing glanced at the table—it was Yao Jia calling.
Her heart skipped a beat, but she still called out, "Boss Xiao, your phone is ringing."
Xiao Mo didn’t respond; he probably didn’t hear her.
The phone kept ringing, each ring sounding like it was pounding on her heart.
She couldn’t tell what she was feeling—sothing that couldn’t be untangled or sorted out.
After a while, Xiao Mo ca out of the shower. His hair was still wet as he walked to the bed, drying it with a towel.
Xiao Mo wore only a robe, loosely open at the collar. As he bent down to pick up the phone, he unintentionally revealed his half-concealed chest.
Xia Chuqing caught an unfortunate glimpse, and her face flushed bright red.
This man’s figure was really sothing, with abs to match...
Realizing her focus was misplaced, Xia Chuqing quickly averted her gaze and muttered, "Could you put your clothes on properly?"
"Hmm?" Xiao Mo hadn’t noticed and was just scrolling on his phone.
"It’s nothing." Xia Chuqing pretended to watch TV, acting as if she hadn’t seen him. "Your phone rang earlier."
"Oh."
Xiao Mo also saw that it was a call from Yao Jia.
"I’ll go make a call outside." Xiao Mo stood up.
"Okay." Xia Chuqing pretended not to have seen that it was Yao Jia calling, maintaining her composure.
But she didn’t know why—it still hurt a bit inside. Maybe she still cared about him...
Xiao Mo walked out of the room, headed to the floor-to-ceiling window in the hallway, and returned Yao Jia’s call.
"Brother Xiao Mo, why did you take so long to answer? Did you upset Auntie? She just called , crying while she talked." Yao Jia said, worried.
"You don’t need to worry about this."
"Brother Xiao Mo, Uncle and Auntie are getting old. Don’t upset them—what if sothing bad happens to them because of it?"
"Don’t worry about whatever my parents tell you."
"Where are you now?"
"At the hotel."
"Oh, Auntie probably hasn’t called you? She’s likely still crying. Seriously, so won are just for play. Don’t take them seriously. What’s the point of stirring up trouble at ho? It only invites ridicule."
"Yao Jia, watch your mouth. Don’t fan the flas in front of my mom, or I won’t let you off." Xiao Mo’s tone was icy.
"Brother Xiao Mo..." Yao Jia said, feeling wronged. "I didn’t even say anything. Why are you angry with ?"
"I’m hanging up." Xiao Mo ended the call.
As he was about to go back to the room, he thought for a mont and then called Secretary Lin: "Secretary Lin, can you go to the mall and buy a few sets of won’s clothes for washing?"
He then roughly reported Xia Chuqing’s size.
He had only gauged it with his hand that one ti when she was drunk. Whether he was right or not...he would have to check again next ti.
Secretary Lin was taken aback: "Boss Xiao..."
"Just leave it at the front desk. I’ll send you the address. Don’t tell anyone about this." Xiao Mo instructed.
Secretary Lin had been his secretary for many years, so he trusted her.
Secretary Lin was truly surprised. She had worked beside Xiao Mo for a long ti, yet it was the first ti she heard that he was involved with a woman.
"Is there a problem?" Seeing that Secretary Lin hadn’t responded, Xiao Mo frowned.
"No, no problem. I’ll take care of it right away."
"Thank you."
With that, Xiao Mo hung up and finally went back inside the room.
As soon as he entered, Xia Chuqing quickly averted her gaze, not daring to look at him.
"Still watching TV? Not going to sleep?" Xiao Mo smirked.
Tonight, he thought, the one who would suffer would be himself.
"I’m not sleepy. Boss Xiao, if you’re tired, you should sleep first." Xia Chuqing stamred.
"I’m not tired. Since you can’t sleep either, why don’t we chat?" Xiao Mo muted his phone, placed it on the bedside, and gave her a look.
Xia Chuqing hid under the covers, not daring to look at him, staring only at the TV.
"We’ve talked quite a bit already. There’s nothing left to say, is there..."
"Do you hate my parents now?" Xiao Mo asked seriously.
"No..."
"You’re saying one thing but feeling another."
"Really, no... Uncle and Auntie just want the best for you... Actually... I think... they have a point..." Xia Chuqing stamred.
"Since when does supporting others make you diminish yourself? Or is it that I’m not treating you well enough, still lacking a bit?"
"No, Boss Xiao, thank you for standing up for tonight."
"Yeah, because I stood up for you, that’s why my dad’s cup hit ."
"Ah?" Xia Chuqing suddenly rembered—indeed, Uncle Xiao did throw a teacup at Xiao Mo.
Looking at him, she asked nervously, "Did you get hurt anywhere?"
"Yes, the back of my neck was cut by a shard." Xiao Mo touched it with his hand.
"Let see if there’s a first aid kit in the room. Hold on."
Xia Chuqing jumped out of bed. There should be band-aids and alcohol wipes, and she really found them.
"It got a bit irritated during the shower earlier because it got wet." Xiao Mo said.
"Can you... reach it?" Xia Chuqing opened her palm, revealing the dical supplies in her hand.
"..." Xiao Mo glanced at her, his mouth twitching.
"Alright, I’ll help you with it. I’m not very skilled, though."
"Okay."
Xiao Mo sat on the bed, and Xia Chuqing hopped onto his bed, moving to his back.
Indeed, there was a cut mark across the back of his neck.
Fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep, and the blood had already clotted.
Xiao Mo cooperatively pulled down his robe slightly, and while Xia Chuqing applied the dicine, she couldn’t help but notice his fit body and perfect abs once more...
Seriously, he only had a small cut on the back of his neck—did he really need to almost take off his entire robe?
Xia Chuqing wasn’t sure what to say, but after all, as he said, it was to protect her.
