Chapter 1606: Chapter 1606: No One Will Spoil Her for a Lifeti (8)
Seeing her like this, his anger couldn’t last even a minute.
Annoyed, he fished out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, pulled one out, and lit it.
The north wind, mixed with the scent of tobacco, wafted to Xia Chuqing’s nose. She didn’t say a word, quietly holding Guaigai.
While smoking, he didn’t look at her, instead turning his head to gaze out the window.
It was very quiet for a mont; neither of them spoke.
Halfway through the cigarette, Xiao Mo finally turned to glance at her, seeing her curled up, and couldn’t help but frown, “Do you really hate that much?”
“No… I don’t hate you…”
Xiao Mo let out a cold laugh, “You neither hate nor like , you’re a good person, right?”
Xia Chuqing bit her lip, using her fingers to groom Guaigai’s fur.
“Let’s cool down for a few days. I’ll calm down, and so will you,” Xiao Mo suggested.
He was always rational, but in front of Xia Chuqing, he lost his composure.
He couldn’t guess what she was thinking; he wasn’t good with won in general and couldn’t understand Xia Chuqing’s mind at all.
Is this how all won are?
Does she really not like him at all?
Or did his rejection two years ago hurt her deeply?
After finishing the cigarette, Xiao Mo restarted the car and drove toward C City.
This ti, Xiao Mo noticeably increased the speed, and by the ti it was past eight in the evening, they were ho.
The streetlights shone brightly, illuminating the wide road, with the villa area remaining quiet.
The weather in C City wasn’t great; it was raining, but not heavily, just a drizzle.
Guaigai slept soundly in Xia Chuqing’s arms, motionless.
Xiao Mo took a turn and drove the car howard. But to his surprise, there was a black SUV parked at the entrance.
When Xiao Mo opened the car window to check, the license plate was very familiar, it was his dad’s car. What was going on? Why was his dad here? Weren’t they celebrating the New Year at ho?
While he was puzzled, Xia Chuqing woke up, having just dozed off a mont ago.
“Are we there?” Xia Chuqing looked out the window, “It’s raining.”
“Yes, it’s raining. I’ll park the car in the garage.”
Xiao Mo closed the window and drove toward the garage.
Xia Chuqing noticed the car outside too and curiously asked, “Whose car is that? Why are the lights on at your ho?”
“Probably my dad ca.”
“Ah?” Xia Chuqing imdiately beca nervous, “Then leave outside, I don’t want to go in…”
“It’s raining outside, you want to leave you out there? Are you testing my IQ?”
“…” Xia Chuqing was at a loss for words.
She was anxious inside. What if Xiao Mo’s dad saw her living at Xiao Mo’s place?
“Nervous? I’m here,” Xiao Mo glanced at her and parked the car.
He pulled out two suitcases and led Xia Chuqing and Guaigai through the garage, around the garden, and into the living room.
As the door opened, the warmth of the heating hit them.
Sure enough, his parents had co.
But to Xiao Mo and Xia Chuqing’s surprise, all of Xia Chuqing’s stuff was packed and piled on the living room floor.
Xia Chuqing felt a jolt in her heart. She wasn’t stupid; she understood now.
“Mom, Dad, why are you back?” Xiao Mo entered casually.
But Xia Chuqing stood awkwardly at the door.
Xiao Mo tugged her in, leading her to the living room.
“Didn’t we co back just to have a look before you? If we didn’t, how would we know you’ve been living with a woman?” Xiao’s father spoke coldly, eyes fixed on Xia Chuqing.
Xiao’s mother too, kept her gaze on Xia Chuqing.
They had thought Xia Chuqing would be a seductive and charming woman but found her dressed conservatively, looking more like an ordinary student.
Unexpectedly, their son liked such types? They were indeed disappointed.
“Since you’re here, you should know, we’re not cohabiting,” Xiao Mo replied calmly, “Chuqing had nowhere to stay, so I let her stay for a few days.”
He knew this ti his parents ca prepared.
They probably even investigated everything about Xia Chuqing.
Who leaked the information about them living together to his parents? Not many people knew, possibly only one, Song Heng.
“When did your place beco a shelter? Keeping not just a dog but a person too,” Xiao’s mother dropped her usual smile.
She was dissatisfied with Xia Chuqing; after being there for a while, she hadn’t said a word.
Yet Xiao Mo was holding her hand the whole ti, and she seed unwilling.
Guaigai, knowing nothing, happily ran all over the place after returning ho.
“I only shelter those I like,” Xiao Mo spoke calmly, “My ho is naturally hers too.”
The air was thick with tension, just a spark could ignite the powder keg.
“Since you put it that way, is she your girlfriend or your wife?” Xiao’s mother took a sip of tea and asked calmly.
“For now, she’s my girlfriend, and in the future, my wife,” Xiao Mo answered steadily.
Xia Chuqing’s heart trembled, her hand encircled within Xiao Mo’s, feeling sothing different.
Especially with what he said, whether to pacify his parents or defend her dignity, she was inexplicably moved.
“Xia Chuqing, co here, let take a look,” Xiao’s mother beckoned.
Xia Chuqing was apprehensive, unsure whether to let go of Xiao Mo’s hand or not.
Xiao Mo whispered, “I’m here, go ahead.”
Hearing his words, Xia Chuqing walked toward Xiao’s mother.
Xiao’s mother was much younger than she expected, very beautiful, with great skin, appearing around her thirties, adorned elegantly, her expression calm and masklike, concealing her emotions well.
“Auntie,” Xia Chuqing called out.
“How old are you? How long have you known Xiao Mo?” Xiao’s mother asked.
“I’ll be twenty-four after the New Year, we’ve known each other for quite a while,” Xia Chuqing answered dutifully.
“From A City? Working under Xiao Mo now?”
“Yes,” she replied.
“Speaking of A City and the Xia family na, you probably know Xia Yongfang?”
Xia Chuqing’s face changed, “He’s my dad.”
“So he’s your dad, I knew it, not many Xia’s in A City. Xia Yongfang had conflicts with Xiao Mo’s dad years ago, but that’s in the past,” Xiao’s mother said blandly, “Sorry for the trouble, staying beside Xiao Mo, my son has a temper.”
“No, Mr. Xiao is a very good person,” Xia Chuqing still couldn’t decipher Xiao’s mother’s aning.
“How much does my son pay you per night? Is it enough? The Xiao family isn’t stingy with money, it cos from legitimate ans, don’t make us look petty,” Xiao’s mother added.
Those words, like a sharp sword, pierced Xia Chuqing’s heart rcilessly.
In that instant, her face turned pale, understanding everything.
As if her heart was bleeding, drop by drop.
In Xiao’s mother’s eyes, she was rely a woman whom Xiao Mo dallied with in his spare ti, not a respectable girl from a good family.
“If you need money, tell Auntie, after all, you were once a wealthy young lady, commanding a higher price than others is normal,” Xiao’s mother sarcastically remarked again.
