Chapter 1403: Chapter 1403: You’ve Crossed My Line

“Hey, Chuqing.” There was no sound on the other end.

Xiao Mo looked at Xia Chuqing coldly, then glanced at the phone, Song Heng.

“What are you doing, Xiao Mo? I said soone’s picking up, why are you still clinging to like a stubborn plaster? You must be really drunk. Let go of or I’ll call for help!” Xia Chuqing threatened him.

There were duty teachers in the library, and if a teacher saw a student being harassed, they would definitely intervene.

The rain was pouring down, and bursts of cold wind slipped into Xia Chuqing’s collar. Standing at the entrance for a while, she felt a bit cold and shivered through her body.

Xiao Mo just watched her, remaining silent.

Xia Chuqing felt creeped out by his stare, sowhat fearful and apprehensive.

Drunk people are terrifying, and Xiao Mo’s eyes were bloodshot, emitting a chill colder than the evening breeze.

How could she dare to get in his car, not to ntion the danger of drunk driving, and what if he got any terrible ideas and took her to so desolate place…

Xia Chuqing shuddered, feeling utterly terrified, and dared not think further.

“Mr. Xiao, you’re scaring . Can you please let go? There’s no dispute between us anymore, right? I’ve paid back what I owed you, haven’t I?”

“You still owe a lot,” Xiao Mo said indifferently, his gaze still fixed on her sowhat pale face.

“What do I owe you? Spell it out! As long as you can na it, I can pay it back.” Xia Chuqing said irritably.

“You think you could get the spot for studying abroad in France so easily? There are many in your departnt who co from wealthier and more powerful families than yours. Your father may be the mayor, but he’s still in A City. How can A City compare to C City?”

Xiao Mo beca a bit emotional, rattling off a lot of words in one go.

He thought, he must be a bit drunk.

Xia Chuqing was stunned, looking at Xiao Mo’s eyes with disbelief and an icy tone: “Why do you interfere in my affairs? And, have you been investigating ?”

Not even her counselor or the university president knew about her father being the mayor, yet Xiao Mo did.

She never ntioned her family business to any of her classmates, always claiming that her parents were ordinary salaried workers.

Unexpectedly, Xiao Mo had thoroughly sniffed out her family background!

Suddenly she felt a sense of public sha, as if laid bare, although it wasn’t a big deal. She had never wanted to speak about it, simply because she wanted to prove her ability, not to rely on her parents.

She studied very hard, won scholarships, and never needed her parents to worry about her tuition fees.

Yet even so, she still had to live with the reputation of depending on her parents.

Moreover, the place to study in France was obtained through her own efforts in the preliminary and final exams, and the interviews. Now Xiao Mo was telling her that without him, she wouldn’t have gotten it.

This was undoubtedly a huge negation of her hard work. Why should she rely on him after all her efforts?

“Xiao Mo, are we that close? Why are you investigating ? And did you really manipulate my chance to study abroad?”

She liked fair competition and disdained those who played dirty tricks behind others’ backs, but she never expected to beco such a person involuntarily—a great negation of her efforts!

“Don’t overthink it, I just gave the school a heads-up on your behalf.” Xiao Mo’s tone softened, “If you weren’t so excellent, the school wouldn’t have agreed.”

“Enough!” Xia Chuqing really got angry this ti, “Xiao Mo, do you realize you’ve crossed my line? Who do you think you are? I already told you, after paying back your favor last ti, we’re even. What right do you have to ddle in my life? We’re not that close, can you please leave?”

Xiao Mo looked at her eyes that had reddened in an instant, and his chest trembled uncontrollably.

It was as if a rope was tightening around his heart, a suffocating pain spreading through his limbs and bones.

“Your written exam score was the highest in the departnt, what doubts do you have about your abilities?” Xiao Mo said indifferently, “I just worry about the what-ifs.”

“That’s not the issue! Can you prioritize things properly?” Xia Chuqing was sowhat losing her sanity, “I hate it when people I’m not close with interfere in my life without my consent, do you understand? Blockhead, get lost!”

Xia Chuqing forcefully shook off his hand. Xiao Mo was strong, and when she pulled away, she almost dislocated her arm.

A bitter smile appeared on the corners of Xiao Mo’s lips. People he was not close with?

After shaking off Xiao Mo, Xia Chuqing ran swiftly into the library.

Without going back to her seat, she entered the restroom and started to cry out loud.

Really, Xiao Mo was quite capable; every ti she saw him, he could make her cry in anger.

Xiao Mo felt a bit helpless, standing at the entrance of the library with his hands hanging down, looking in the direction Xia Chuqing had disappeared, with that suffocating feeling still in his chest.

The heavy rain continued to fall nonstop. The raindrops splashed on the ground, creating ripples, which left water stains on the edge of Xiao Mo’s trousers.

He admitted that he had drunk a bit too much today, his consciousness was unclear, his mind was fuzzy, and he did not know what he was doing or saying.

He had greeted several teachers at the school, telling them to inform him first if Xia Chuqing encountered any difficulties.

He didn’t know why he did this either; it seed he just wanted her to be happier—he couldn’t bear to see her cry.

Just like tonight, when the teacher at the library told him that Xia Chuqing hadn’t brought an umbrella.

He happened to be near C University in a hotel entertaining clients. The dinner hadn’t ended yet, but he drove over right away.

The rain floated onto his face, and his drunkenness gradually sobered up a bit; he was not drunk to a severe degree, but upon arriving at the school, he beca impulsive for a mont.

He stood at the entrance for a long ti but did not leave.

About ten minutes later, a boy drove up to the front of the library.

“The rain is really heavy.” The boy took out an umbrella while getting out of the car.

As soon as he got out, he shook his hair and took out his phone.

What he didn’t expect was that as soon as he dialed the number, a phone in a man’s hand rang.

“Huh… strange, how co Chuqing’s phone is with you?” the boy curiously approached Xiao Mo.

“A girl lost this just now, if you know her, give it to her.” Xiao Mo put the phone in the boy’s hand and walked into the rain without looking back.

“Oh!” The boy took the phone.

Xiao Mo walked from the rain into his car, opened the door, turned the vehicle around, and drove away from the library.

“Daring to drive after drinking,” the boy muttered to himself and entered the library.

He searched the library for Xia Chuqing, not finding her after a full circuit, only finding her seat.

He sat down at her seat and waited for about ten minutes before Xia Chuqing ca out of the restroom.

“Song Heng, you’ve arrived. That was quite fast,” Xia Chuqing said with a smile.

Her eyes were still red, and even though she had washed her face several tis, it was still obvious at a glance that she had been crying.

“What happened?” The boy jumped down and walked up to her, staring at her for a few monts, “You cried? No way, Xia Chuqing can cry?”
