Chapter 27: A SHORT BREAK
The morning sun shone through the window, landing on Silas’s face.
His hand moved up lazily to cover the rays. "It’s morning already," he yawned, sitting up.
His plan for today was simple: just chill and enjoy the day without stress.
He went into the bathroom, brushed his teeth, then took a bath before walking back out.
Opening the wardrobe, he gazed at the clothes with his fingers grazing his chin.
Finally, after a few monts, he selected a pair of blue baggy trousers and a white top.
Then, he walked up to the mirror attached to the wardrobe’s centre, admiring the changes his body had undergone after his consecutive breakthroughs. He adjusted his earring before walking out of the room.
He could already perceive the sweet aroma that wafted through the atmosphere. The sll only made him hungrier.
He walked down the staircase, quickly reaching the lower floor.
Unlike what he expected, everyone was in the parlour, dressed in casual clothes, with cookies and fruits placed on the centre table.
Silas smiled when he saw them. "Good morning." He bowed before walking to sit on one of the sofas.
"Well, we decided to go out for fun today," Max said, waving his car keys at Silas.
"No guards, just all of us."
Silas’s eyes bead with joy at the word outing. This was exactly what he needed at the mont.
"So, do we eat before we leave?" he asked.
"You can eat, but we are also taking so on our trip. A proper picnic is nothing without our homade al," Alfred said, unusually loud.
"Well, give
a few minutes then, I need to eat," he said, running into the kitchen.
The chef there served him little, as per his order.
Silas finished eating within 3 minutes and walked out again.
Alia was already outside, also dressed in a short blue gown that stopped at her knees and black slippers. On her head was a wide hat.
"Good morning," she greeted Silas.
Silas replied with a smile.
"You rember your promise of a spar if I broke through to the Master stage within those two weeks, right?" Alia asked.
Silas blinked at her words. "Yes," he replied.
"We can get it over with at the beach then," she said, her eyes sparking with ecstasy as she thought about her spar.
Silas began to question his life choices. ’Which normal girl would be this battle-hungry?’ he wondered.
"There shall be no fights," Max said from behind her, his tone calm but commanding.
"Yes, it has been cancelled," Silas said, seeing an opportunity he could latch onto.
"Until tomorrow. After he gets
sothing, both of you will spar," Max finished his sentence.
Silas almost burst into tears. His only ray of hope had been blocked.
"Fine by ," Alia said with a shrug, clearly oblivious to Silas’s condition.
"Since everyone is ready, let’s go," Sebastian said calmly as he rose from his chair.
Everyone followed suit, walking out of the building.
Behind them, a maid carried a basket containing all the packed food.
She placed it in the car’s trunk, bowed, and walked away briskly.
"Here, drive," Max said, tossing the key to Silas.
Silas caught it on instinct before realizing sothing. "I can’t drive," he said.
"You are 18, learn today. Not like an accident can kill any of us anyway."
Silas shook his head at Max’s thod. But he agreed anyway.
He had always fantasized about driving, but because of the recent issues, he had never tried it.
"Okay, everyone get in, I am driving you," Silas yelled, jumping into the driver’s seat.
"This is a really bad idea," Alia rolled her eyes. The only reason she was bold enough to even enter in the first place was due to the physical powers of a Master rank cultivator, which could absorb the impact of a missile without a scratch.
’At most we get involved in an accident that can barely dent our skin.’ Those were her thoughts.
The car was small but luxurious, with enough space for 6 people at the back and a passenger seat in front.
Moreover, it was a very old model used by human civilization billions of years ago before they entered the interstellar era.
The back was occupied by Sebastian, Max, and Alfred while Alia sat beside Silas.
On the other hand, while all of them were busy with their own thing, Silas had quickly digested over 20 books on driving in his mind.
Because he had focused more on science and cultivation, he had not stacked enough auxiliary knowledge.
’I will read more about them later,’ he thought.
According to what he had just learnt, older models like this were harder to drive compared to the newer ones.
"Governor Max, why are you still using a car this outdated?" Silas asked as he looked back at Max.
"I like it," Max said like it was nothing.
Silas only sighed.
With a calm twist of the key, the engine was ignited.
Gas fus ca out of its exhaust pipes, but there were too few to worry about.
Silas carefully stepped on the throttle as he adjusted the gear to drive.
The car began to move forward slowly. The gate opened automatically as the car approached.
"If you go at this speed, we might never reach where we are going," Alfred chid from the back, seeing as Silas had yet to exit the gate even after 2 minutes.
"I am trying stuff now," Silas replied. "Okay then, everyone, hold tight."
Alia looked at him from the side, then faced forward.
The car sped through the gate, swerving masterfully to the left under Silas’s control, taking everyone by surprise.
"Are you sure this is your first ti driving?" Alia, who did not want to talk before, asked.
Both of them had practically been together all their lives. She knew the answer to her question, but it only made it more ridiculous.
"Nope," Silas grinned, pressing the throttle harder.
Alia was about to speak,
but sighed. ’He is a genius through and through,’ she thought.
