I couldn’t believe what I had almost done.
I almost burned my childhood best friend’s soul for eternity.
I needed to get a grip on my goddess powers.
Kalvin was a scumbag, yeah, but not one that deserved the death penalty. He wasn’t a traitor. Just a cheater. And the world was filled with dishonesty of all kinds; most weren’t worthy of death.
Especially not that kind of permanent death.
My head was a ss.
"You’re okay, you can stop shaking."
I hadn’t even realized I was shaking.
"You have to rember, you are a goddess, which ans you have a temper and the power to back it up. People are responsible for not triggering the wrath of a goddess, just as you are responsible for how you hurt your people. Don’t carry this weight alone." He spoke low and calm. His voice was holding together. I was hanging on his every word for dear life.
"He tried to kidnap a goddess and steal her from her destined mate. He wanted to take the hero of the story away before she could defeat the enemy and save the world. That makes him a villain. Rember that."
"You kidnapped too. Does that make you a villain?" I rebutted.
"I’m a villain baby, and that has nothing to do with you. Villains are made, not born." He carried sothing else in his words. A different aning. A reminder that he was broken once, he paid for the sins he committed before he was old enough to commit them.
My father took his parents life.
And that’s the part of his story that made him a villain.
So, what had made Kalvin a villain? Or was he proof so were just born that way?
What did Kalvin go through that made him a cheater? Made him desperate?
"Pride. Not every villain loses the sa thing. I lost my parents. He lost his chance. Greed. He saw your power and wanted what it could give him. He was greedy, wanting more than his status granted him. Carrot top reached above his paygrade and developed a rare disease called: TheAudacity." He muttered at the end, and it was enough to lighten the whole mood when I giggled.
"TheAudacity, that’s funny."
"Yeah, it’s true too." He snorted.
"Thank you." I said softly.
"Always. I’ve got your back."
Hearing him say that broke . I lted in his arms. Sobs escaped my mouth and tears fell from my eyes.
"Shhh... Shh... It’s okay now. Tomorrow, you’ll be Luna, and the world will know you are a goddess in flesh. Tomorrow, we make an alliance between two species, sothing that’s never been done. We begin the rest of our lives as one tomorrow." His words were ones filled with love and hope.
He was right. As much as I wanted to mope and feel sorry for myself, I more important things that needed my attention than my own self pity.

"I know." He smirked at . "Speaking of, I don’t think we’ve gone over what the ceremony consists of. Maybe we should."
"Oh? I guess you’re right, I haven’t really had the ti to give it much thought, I’ve been more worried about my family getting caught, the war coming, training, the possibility of your pack starting a war with my people before we can even face the real threat. But yeah, you’re right." I confessed a little annoyed that he was right.
I had no fucking clue what all this was going to look like.

"Let’s have dinner and a movie in the room with just us tonight."
"Okay." I smiled. My family has slowly adjusted to a more daylight leaning life, with magic rings, my family has been up since the late afternoon. It’s strange really. Early evening was pretty typical, school being a mix of day a night my schedule was more flexible than theirs.
He brought back to our room and ordered Ariel, our new personal maid, since Em was promoted to my personal assistant, Ariel was promoted next, as soone I trusted and loyal to the royal family not just the crown.
Evie would also be visiting soon, and I couldn’t wait to see her.
We waited to have the conversation until after we showered and changed. Ambrose had put Damon in charge of his affairs for the remainder of the day.
Once dinner arrived, I felt the tone in the room shift.
"Your family will wear a glamor and keep masking their scent and appearance until we reveal our plans. This is important, we can’t reveal the fact there’s vampires here before we announce the alliance. Which we will do last, according to tradition. The Eclipse Gala is ant for initiations and for connections as well as the chance to find a mate. It’s the perfect ti to co forward not just because it’s the soonest event to do so, but because this is the only yearly event for this type of thing." He started explaining and I listened intensely and ate slowly. Taking one bite at a ti.
"Matches will be announced. While this is happening, you will be getting ready to make your appearance. You and your family will co in at the end, they will blend in. But I want you to be the focus. I want you to release your aura, not to the point they all drop, including , okay, don’t embarrass like that in front of my people please. Spare my dignity." He teased .
I laughed.
"I promise." I squished and wiggled my nose at him.
"Anyways, you’ll blow the crowd away with your beauty and aura and just ugh, you. I will walk up and greet you. Your family will follow in after and again, blend in. This is when I will bring you up and I will announce that I am taking a luna at last. I’ll introduce you with your full title, including your family na and your divine hood. And that’s when I know the room will erupt in roars of anger. That’s when I want you to do your whole godly white fire show and release your whole aura. That’s when I’ll bow to you and acknowledge you as our goddess in flesh and after I will mark you in front of everyone. Artemasia will confirm your status. Your father and grandmother and grandfather will approach, and we will announce the alliance."
"This sounds like it will be so easy... What’s the catch?" I leaned back in my chair and crossed my arms.
"I will mark you twice. After the gala is over, I will take you back to this room and I will fuck you until you break and I’ll knot inside you and mark you. But this one will hurt. That’s why I’m going to give you so many orgasms before it." He tried to explain, he sounded so nervous and panicked, it was hard to stay mad about this.
"Why does the second one hurt, but not the first?" Why wouldn’t both hurt? That’s honestly what I expected.
"The first one is real, but it’s more ceremonial before the moon goddess, the other is for centing a bond between the wolves, typically, but I think it will seal to your soul, because you don’t have a wolf. It will connect you to Onyx. At least that’s what he thinks and hopes. He’s desperate to hear you with his own ears and speak to you with his own voice. He’s a simp for you, it’s pathetic really. Hard to believe a giant black wolf is a literal puppy for a vampire." He laughed.
I could see his eyes flashing gold aning his wolf was surfacing or yelling at him. That much I’ve learned, I wonder if he knows that his eyes do that.
"The pain is because our souls link up?" I asked.
"Yes. That’s the catch."
"I’ve worn a shock collar like a bad dog, I think I can handle this."
His face fell which made feel a little bit guilty. So I reached over and touched his hand that clenched the fork with ferocity.
"I’m sorry, I don’t an to punish you. I forgive you, but it doesn’t change that it happened."
"I know. Onyx reminds all the ti that I would regret doing so of the things I did." Ambrose admitted sadly.
"And do you?"
"Every single one."
