~ODETTE’S POV~
I left the training arena with Raven and walked with her through town heading to the school for shifters here in their capital. This will be my second ti coming with Raven as a coach.
After arriving at the school and following the sa routine, signing in and heading to their outdoor training field.
Lined up were students ready and waiting excitedly for their chance to spar with and Raven again.
They looked cute and nacing standing there patiently.
"Welco back Miss Odette and Miss Raven." The all said in unison greeting us. Training began instantly.
I first pulled a little blonde hair girl.
"You sll different. More like us." She said quieter.
I smiled. I’d been spending a lot of ti with shifters and becoming closer with the inner goddess sitting inside .
"That’s because I am different." I whispered to the girl giving her a wink after. "Okay you ready?"
She gave a firm nod and put her little set up.
We went a few rounds, I let her beat for the last one, because boosting confidence after a good fight is a great way to encourage training on your own terms and on your own ti.
Raven and I each took our turn with all the little ones. They were whooped by the end of the sparring. All of the kids were laying down on the ground, soaking in the earth underneath our feet.
Their faces beet red and drenched in sweat. Raven and I worked them hard.
"Why don’t you two spar?" The little blonde girl from earlier asked.
And this would be were our friendship falls apart. When she can’t admit she can’t beat anymore and I don’t let her have my first place spot. How do I do this?
How would I answer soone asking sothing like with Emalea?
Oouu got it! "Fun fact we went to school together. And we used to even be rivals. I graduated with top marks in combat. And Raven is a very skilled and well disciplined fighter. She’s fast and she has a super cool special ability that has given more than enough trouble in our years together at school. I can’t tell you though, because its her story to share."
"So will you guys spar?" Ask the another child.
I looked to Raven questioningly and asked "Care to dance with ?" I was hoping saying it like that might drop a hint on us preforming more than fighting.
She says "Sure why not."
And just like that we were fighting again.
But this ti felt different. She felt like a natural partner in training, not an enemy I needed to defeat and defend against.
Raven moved with a new precision, I haven’t seen in previous matches with her. She was swift and fast. Coming straight at . She dropped to the ground and skid. I jumped up and flipped over her. Landing back on my feet. And twisting around with my leg extended hitting her in her ribs. She was sent sliding across the dirt. She ran back at . We didn’t use our abilities. Just strictly combat skills. She ducked low attempting to tackle by my knees. But I pivoted left and side stepped right avoiding her collision. She went into a roll and sprung up, throwing a fist in my direction I blocked grabbing her fist and twisting upwards her body followed. Mine did too in return. Our bodies turned together like, back to back and then twisted front to front again.
We weren’t fighting we really were dancing. It was like the sword dance performance I did during our graduation ceremony. We moved together in fluid motion. She danced like the perfect partner.
And for the first ti ever. I felt real friendship bloom between us both. I felt myself connecting to her. like strings reaching out from inside connection with hers.
And suddenly. SNAP. A new bond clicked in place.
"Woah... What the fuck was that?" Raven stopped mid fight, which sent tumbling to the side and landing flat on my ass.
I rubbed my butt and stood up, dusting the dirt off.
"Odette, explain. Now." She barked at .
"I can’t. I don’t even know how, and we can’t talk about this in front of the children." I growled low at her.
"Whatever." Raven growled low matching my tone and energy.
"All right you guys, that’s all for today." Raven clapped as she told the class.
"Awe man, why’d ya stop fightin" one little boy asked.
"Because it’s ti for us to go and you all must return to your last class." Raven told the group of kids.
"Ahh co on, it was just getting good." One child whined.
"Yeah! You guys fight so good! I wanna fight like you guys!"
"Teach us to fight like that!" They were all shouting their own versions of these statents.
"Listen, listen. You all want to fight as good as Raven and I?" I paused and looked at each earnest face "Then you have to train every day. Train your hardest every day with each other. Never hold back. Always give your opponent your best. Because they deserve it if they want to get better. And so do you."
Everyone nodded and scread "Yeah!!!"
"Good. Now if you don’t mind, go practice what you learned and be good for your teachers." I told them before hurrying them along. Their friendly faces plastered with big smiles.
"Now spit it out. What the fuck was that?" Raven growled.
"I don’t know but it felt similar to what I had with Ambrose..." I whispered at this last part "When the mate bond clicked in place."
"We are not mates." Raven took a step back shocked by what I just told her.
"No... But I think it’s related to the changes that have been happening to . I can’t talk about everything, not just yet." You’ll learn soon enough Raven. That I’m your goddess in human flesh. And the look on your face when you realize you’ve been bullying your goddess most of you life. And when Ambrose marks . The just desserts will be worth every emotional scar you inflected on .
