~AMBROSE’S POV~
Damon would stay here to lead in my stead.
He was originally against it. But after so persuasion, I convinced him otherwise.
She had lit the stone, allowing us to track her whereabouts.
She was deep in a mountain, and we would need to get in and out as quietly as possible.
It was hard, but I found a better replacent for Ezra after Odette executed him. He was able to extend his masking ability, giving coverage to the space around him.
Everyone on the plane stared at Odette with curiosity. Her sll was definitely different now, and I know my scent helps, mixing with hers.
I noticed even after everyone introduced themselves, still none of them recognized her. But then again, the princess of darkness was well hidden from the outside world, people knew she was beautiful but nothing else, it was hard to get pictures, it was Raven who supplied most of them. She probably didn’t sll like vampires now that I think about it.
Because she wasn’t just a vampire. Was she?
We were pulling up to the drop spot for the rendezvous.
"Drop opening in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." The pilot counted down before the bed of the plane opened up for deploynt.
"It’s ga ti." One of my soldiers whispered.
We all filed in line taking our dive toward the earth one person at a ti.
I looked back Odette and asked "Are you nervous?" I asked seeing the worried look on her face.
"No, I’ve always wanted a crash course in flying. Let’s do this." She joked through gritted teeth.
"Okay, princess." I right up behind and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into .
She lted in embrace and for a mont I almost forgot we were diving into the belly of the enemy.
She took a deep breath, which I have to admit was pretty cute to see.
"And here we go." I pulled us down and spun so she was watching the sky as she fell.
"Wow, the stars. They’re so big and beautiful. I feel so close to them, like I could reach out and touch them." She yelled back to .
"Hate to take the sight away, but I have to deploy the shoot. You’re gonna feel a hard jerk, just know, if I drop you, I’ll catch you." I was teasing her of course.
"If you drop , I’ll catch myself and kick your ass. I’ll hang out with Onyx instead of you."
Onyx purred hearing the possibly of getting his ti at the controls.
"You wouldn’t dare..." I gave a low but mostly sarcastic growl.
"If you dare drop , oh I dare then." She stuck her tongue out at .
When we landed on the mountain side, I could feel the eyes of my soldiers gaping at the two of us.
"Move out. I want my two Oga’s and my Gammas grouped together, I need a beta in the front and in the back." I looked to Odette, "You’ll stay with , you’re far too valuable to lose."
Hidden aning laced my voice, and I could tell she knew I ant to stay close so I can protect her. Even if she doesn’t need it.
That’s right, protecting her is our job, our purpose gifted to us by the goddess.
"Understood Alpha King Ambrose."
Moving through the tunnel system following the route Es had laid out for us to follow.
We ca to the end of the tunnel map and a massive stone archway stood against the cave wall.
"How do we go through this?" One of my soldiers asked.
"It’s a legit weyline? Seriously! I’ve only read about them, I’ve never gotten the chance to see them before!" Odette shouted excitedly rushing up to it.
"Alpha King, how are we going to get through the door?" No sooner than my soldier asked did the archway co to life. White smoke ca alive surrounding the archway. Slipping to the cracks of the stone and spreading through it.
I look over to Odette, and I see her standing next to the stone touching it. She was glowing herself.
All of our eyes are on her as the air beca charged with raw electrifying power.
"Fuck." I heard them whisper as they witnessed Odette opening the weygate.
"I guess this answers that question, doesn’t it..." The previous soldier ntioned after the fact.
Odette looked at her eyes gaping, "All I did was touch it, I swear."
The rest of us just laughed at the sheer surprise in her own voice and her need to defend herself for doing exactly what we needed.
"Woah, how did she do that?"
"Is she a witch? I’ve never slled anything like her before. She slls like the changing of seasons. I can’t explain it."
"What is she?"
"Who is she?"
The questions started circulating. "Focus team, move out. Keep your eyes locked ahead and pay attention."
They nodded.
"You’re all too proud of yourself." I told her through the bond.
"I’m just happy they don’t hate , and I don’t sense any fear or malice. It’s a nice change, judge why don’t you." She jabbed.
I centered my focus and we took steps through the gate.
I’ve never been through the weylines. The magic to operate them is rare. Dark magic and ancient magic are the only ways to access them now. And Ancient is untouchable by even the most experienced. Dark Magic is the only real accessible way.
Except Es, and apparently Odette.
Es’s ability was teleportation; she could make teleportation stones from any ordinary rock. She could use them without needing a second to move to. She could navigate weylines and use fae rings with no stones or spells. She was the only person with that ability.
Inside the weylines. I chuckled, genius. It’s the perfect place to hide an army. Inside was like a stepping into a black and white movie, walls so grey it almost sucks the color from anything to enter its grasp.
The path was thin lined by jagged rocks that seed to flicker and move.
"Gamma Jay, light." I ordered.
Gamma Jay had a unique ability to make items of his choice glow like the light of the moon.
It was mainly used as a parlor trick before I recruited him. I saw potential where everyone else saw a jester.
I guess you could say I collected oddities and sharpened them into weapons.
We moved through the darkness all holding a dimly lit stone Gamma Jay helped with.
His wolf was weak, but his combat skills were an asset even without a strong wolf. In human form his could smash a skull with his bare hands.
I pulled the stone from my pocket that ward the closer we got to her hideout.
The fact we hadn’t seen anyone was concerning.
At least that was until Odette shot her hand out pulling back "Stop, soone is approaching and they are not a friend."
I nodded and spoke in the channel "Possible enemy approaches.Be alert."
It’s not Es, it’s soone else.
And then a familiar infuriating scent filled my nose.
Micca.
"I see the Alpha King for his little pet." Micca Sneered.
"You slimy son of a bitch. You’re still alive and you ran to the rogues for help, what a fucking coward." I spat at him.
"You’ll regret those words." He growled like he had the right to feel disrespected by my words.
Odette stood back and observed, letting handle my pack. I could feel her mind reeling, taking in information, she was honed in.
I was proud.
"The only thing I regret is letting you slip from my grasp, but I won’t let that happen again."
He laughed "You’re out numbered."
"And you’re in over your head. That much I know." I had a goddess standing behind and he had basic rogues, no special status. What an idiot. I could sense the numbers approaching, but that was just it.
He only had numbers.
"Bring her forward."
A small woman with long black hair pale skin coated in dirt and blood was dragged toward us.
Esrelda.
