~ODETTE’S POV~

Ursula was far more knowledgeable than I expected. Not that I doubted her abilities, but the way she was able to explain things and make them relatable. It proved she really did spend a lot of ti with my mom and dad.

How else would a shifter know so much about vampires?

The rest of class was interesting, to say the least.

She had reading a book on shifter physiology, an older text, one with less dically technical terms. Which definitely beat the books on it back in school.

The silence in the air was interrupted by the gurgling in my tummy.

I was hungry and ready for lunch.

Ambrose was supposed to et for lunch; I’m surprised he hasn’t sent for .

"Sounds like it’s ti for so lunch? What do you think?" Ursula smiled amused.

"Yeah, what do you think their serving today?" I continued the conversation watching her close her book and put down her pen, leaving the notes she was taking alone at her desk. And gestured for to do the sa.

"Sothing good." She sounded as hungry as .

Following her out of her study we went for the dining room.

Our places already had their plates sitting in front of them.

I hurried over to my seat and sat down. Opening the lid I found a hamburger with asiago bread, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised, and excited, it had been so long since I had such a basic al. As a side there was fries with white cheese drizzled across the top and truffles mixed in.

The al enticing and extrely appetizing. My mouth was practically watering.

I looked around, no sign of Ambrose.

I decided I was too hungry to wait; he should have been here on ti.

Ursula didn’t wait either, opening her lid from her plate, she had a lunch similar to mine except she had a steaming hot roast beef sandwich.

"How was your first day with ?" Ursula asked before taking a large bite of her sandwich.

"Wait is the day over?" I asked raising an eyebrow. What would I don with the rest of my day?

"Yes, I have howork for you, so don’t get too excited." She gave a nacing grin.

Howork. Ew. That I don’t miss.

"Ugh, howork? Really?" I whined.

"Yes, but Ambrose is to do it with you." And then she looked behind toward the entryway "Is that understood Ambrose?" She narrowed her eyes.

I looked back and there he stood in all his handso glory. His tousled ssy black hair, those piercing golden eyes, those full lips and white smile hidden behind them.

"I am a king; I don’t do howork." He joked walking by, his hand draped over the back of my chair, leaning next to casually.

"You look beautiful today, princess." He whispered low in my ear.

"Go away. I’m hungry." I growled taking a bite from my burger.

"Oh, feisty today. I see. Maybe we should take this kind of attitude and bring it to the training ground see, what we can make of all this attitude?" He chuckled teasing .

He tousled my hair, making it a ss. I jerked my head back, frowning at him, flattening my hair down. "You’re annoying."

"I know." He shrugged off, taking his seat at the head of the table next to .

He lifted the lid on his place and a steak with mixed vegetables sat on his place marinating in its own juices.

If my sandwich didn’t taste and look as good as it did, I’d be jealous.

"So, what’s this about howork?" He asked taking a large bite of steak.

"I want you to quiz her on her on what she learned. I’m testing your knowledge as well, let’s see what you rember from my teachings." She looked at him sharply, daring him to dispute her.

Which of course he would.

Ambrose even with all his power and status, bent to this woman here. But he clearly didn’t plan to make it easy for her. Their relationship was a strange one.

"Really? I graduated, why am I being pulled into this, I hired you for teaching her, not . No." He insisted.

She looked up from her sandwich mid bite, her hardened stare burning through him. "Yes. You will."

I saw Ambrose’s throat bob, gulping at the seriousness in her face and voice. She was the only person I’ve seen, besides Damon, speak so casually and openly with him, and it looked so normal.

I wanted to know more about their relationship, how they got to be this close.

I giggled lightly at the sight of the two of them.

"Absolutely not, I’ve got enough on my plate." He pushed back.

"You will." She firmly insisted. Her tone sharper now. She frowned, looking like she was ready to stab his hand with his own steak knife.

"Fine." He huffed and folded his arms across his chest. Looking like a mad child in tiout.

Seeing him like that I busted out in a hysterical laughter.

He took a piece of carrot and flicked it at , striking in the cheek, and he laughed loudly.

I narrowed my eyes and looked at him with a ’the audacity’ look.

I pulled a fry dripping with cheese and threw it at his face, but he caught it and ate it "Delicious, the chef out did themselves today. Maybe I should have asked for the fries too."

"You two are children, goddess help ." Ursula shook her head at us as she was finishing her food.

"He’s the child! He started it!" I defended myself and my maturity.

"And I’m ending it; I’m trying to enjoy my sandwich. Thank you." Ursula took the last bite of her sandwich and stood from her seat.

"Have fun you two, I have plans with Raven, we had to cancel yesterday, I was prepping for today’s class. I’ll see you on Thursday Odette. Keep him in line. Yeah?" She winked.

"You got it boss." I nodded once back.

"Good." She turned and left the room.

"Now it’s just the two of us, how was it? Was it everything you missed?" he asked curiously.
