Chapter 860: After the modification: Chapter 546 Secrets

“Better avoid them, making too much noise would be dangerous.”

Hugo said softly.

He turned his head to look at the Gentleman in the black hat, lowering his tone:

“Please, Your Majesty.”

“Just a small favor.”

Chen Lun nodded in response. He raised the white cane in his hand, an invisible mysterious force enveloping the three of them. In the next instant, they all vanished from their original spot, imdiately flickering to a location a kiloter away in a straight line.

Rumble…

A gigantic roar echoed from behind them.

Hugo and Ibrayin turned back to look, frowning in unison. They saw that at the original place where the monsters were fighting, a pink mist had risen, shrouded by the “Aura of Bones.”

One could imagine how fierce the battle inside would beco. However, just as the two planned to look away and continue their journey, a massive head that blocked out the sky rose from the ground!

Without skin, composed only of countless muscle fibers, resembling a giant jellyfish, it opened a colossal mouth and dived down fiercely, tearing off a large chunk of the dark red area!

Crack!

It sounded like shattered glass. The Didak Bug People and the Netherworld flesh creatures struggled and twisted as they were devoured by the giant mouth.

Woo—

The giant mouth’s surface opened holes like chrysanthemums, suddenly contracting. Accompanied by the dancing of countless muscled, thread-like appendages, the pink mist was sucked in, followed by a fountain of fresh blood gushing out. The giant creature, seemingly satisfied, slowly sank amidst the blood rain and pink mist… The earth trembled, and the surroundings returned to peace, leaving only a jagged pit on the dark red ground.

“What is that…”

Ibrayin asked in shock.

This grotesque behemoth, emitting a dense mythological aura, brought a strong sense of threat to him.

Hugo beside him spoke in a deep voice:

“The Gluttonous Lord… They can be considered one of the dominant creatures of the Netherworld, direct clans of Lady Rose. Even Saints would mostly prefer to avoid them, as they are extrely troubleso.”

He shook his head.

“As long as we don’t make too much noise or frequently use mythical power, we won’t attract their attention… Let’s keep moving forward, ‘Giant Skull Peak’ should be not far ahead.”

Ibrayin silently nodded.

Luckily, the three did not get involved in the monsters’ battle just now, or they might’ve been targeted by that mythological creature… Not unbeatable, but certainly a huge hassle, and the commotion might draw more unknown entities.

‘Indeed, Hugo had prepared well, with adequate knowledge of the Netherworld, and being quite cautious, making this journey much smoother.’

Chen Lun thought, feeling relieved.

He took one last look at the area bitten off by the Gluttonous Lord, where new “Aura of Bones” was slowly spreading, his sight being swallowed by pink once again.

‘A mythological creature equivalent to high-ranked beings… Lady Rose’s clans, interesting.’

He adjusted his black hat and followed Hugo’s steps, continuing forward.

On the subsequent path, no dangers like before appeared, except occasionally encountering so wandering, famished Netherworld creatures.

Seeing those monsters with peeling skin, exposed muscles, and bleeding all over, Ibrayin showed evident disgust and aversion, usually being the one to clear them out.

Usually, with just a wave of his hand, under the flicker of starlight, the approaching monster horde would turn their bloody mouths on each other, tearing and biting till they killed each other… Or they’d go mad, tearing at themselves until they killed themselves.

Hugo seed quite indifferent to this, while Chen Lun watched with keen interest. I must admit, Ibrayin’s every move was filled with a sense of beauty when he acted…

‘Misguiding, perplexing, and altering perceptions are the primary ans of high-ranking beings of the Constellation.’

Chen Lun thought.

Jingle… jingle…

A silver shimring starlight flowed from between Ibrayin’s fingers, emitting a subtle yet crisp sound.

Five bird-like creatures with giant wing mbranes, their beaks split into three pairs like petals, made strange frog-like croaks. They seed to lose their sense of direction, plumting headfirst to the ground.

With dull thuds, these bird monsters flapped wildly on the ground, splattering blood-red soil. A group of drooling, deford creatures covered in exostoses and horn layers sward in, continuously devouring the birds’ bodies.

Then, after these creatures were sated, they all rushed toward the abyss ahead… as if returning ho, they jumped into the bottomless cliff until their figures were swallowed by the dark red.

“Thanks for your assistance, Your Majesty.”

Hugo nodded to Ibrayin with a smile.

The latter just waved it off.

Chen Lun stood silently on the side, thinking that the reason the old headmaster invited Ibrayin might be partly due to their friendship but also probably due to his power… The misguidance and perplexity of the Constellation involved little commotion while easily clearing obstacles, highly suitable for this journey.

At this mont, the old headmaster raised his magic wand, a brilliant cyan green light shimring.

“Scout.”

He murmured softly.

A layer of invisible thin veil covered the three of them, hiding their figures. Then, Hugo waved his magic wand again.

“Feign Death.”

A layer of dim glow was added to the thin veil, and the life essence of the three dissipated as well.

“We need to proceed along the chasm abyss next. Many mythical creatures like the ‘Lord of Gluttony’ are lurking below. A bit of concealnt could reduce the chance of being noticed…”

Hugo briefly explained and continued to lead the way.

The three moved forward again. About half an hour later, they ca upon a scene of ruins, many skeletal statues stood tall, but they were missing arms and legs, so even had most of their bodies weathered away.

“This place should have been a settlent for the inhabitants of the Netherworld. They worshipped Lady Rose and lived here for generations…”

Hugo looked at the scene, sowhat uncertain, speculating aloud.

Then he turned back, giving the Black Hat Gentleman an inquiring look. Chen Lun imdiately smiled, raised his hand, and flicked his finger.

Ding!

A Blue Gabo coin spun mid-air, then fell and landed in his palm, revealing the portrait of King Byron William Lev.

“It’s safe.”

Chen Lun said with a smile.

Despite the seemingly playful scene, Hugo and Ibrahin did not show contempt but nodded seriously.

A Destiny Saint’s divination, no matter the thod, its essence doesn’t change… Since Jack says it’s safe, then it’s safe. Even Ibrahin, who is also skilled in divination, wouldn’t claim to make a more accurate judgnt.

“Give ten minutes; I need to gather information from these ruins.”

Hugo said quietly.

“No problem, I’ll stand guard.”

Ibrahin responded consciously.

Hugo nodded to them and proceeded into the ancient ruins. Chen Lun, moved by a thought, followed him.

The old principal just glanced at him briefly without saying anything.

A mont later.

While wandering among the ruins, Chen Lun suddenly saw a white bone statue with only its legs remaining, with so blurry text carved on its base.

He approached to examine it closely and found the text written in Anita Language. Fortunately, his proficiency in the language was high, so he could easily understand it.

“The dim Earth, the flickering starry sky, the bizarre dreams, all are illusions… Only the present world and the other side of the Spirit World are the origins of the world.”

“In ancient tis, deities were like friends and families. Now, deities are like enemies… The Dragon of Light, the Giant King, the World Tree, the Master of Destiny, and the Star of Enlightennt, these five Gods were particularly close, and deities like the Erald Bird, Scavenger, and Chiliarch were… ”

“All ancient Gods were enemies. The Giants had fallen, the flesh assaulting, the Rose feared… It is said that the Dragon of Light was the source of the world’s light, eternally illuminating the present world without darkness, but its whereabouts are now unknown.”

“…”

Chen Lun looked at these broken words. The fragnted information seeped into his mind, leaving him sowhat confused.

‘The exact era of these ruins is unclear… Does the first statent imply that, in the beginning, only the present world and the Spirit World existed, with the Netherworld, Star Realm, and Dream Realm being nonexistent?’

He recalled the information he received today from the Generous Council. The definitions of the Netherworld and other realms ntioned in it align with this statent, suggesting their creation was accidental.

‘The second and third statents ntion familiar ancient Gods. As far as I know, the Master of Destiny is the Ring Duke, the World Tree refers to Ms. Holy Tree, and the Star of Enlightennt corresponds to Mr. Jing Yao… The Giant King’s fall seems related to Lady Rose and the Dragon of Light was once the Sun God of the world but later vanished… This likely has sothing to do with the Fierce Father.’

Chen Lun’s brows furrowed slightly.

He speculated that these ancient Gods might have had secret wars with the deities of today’s era… Ring Duke’s will and great cause were to kill the Seven Gods; could this be related?

‘If history is as these words say, then the Ring Duke’s motivation for killing the Seven Gods, could it be revenge for a friend? Hmm… This reason is too weak, likely not.’

Chen Lun was still puzzled.

For instance, the ancient deities ntioned, such as the Erald Bird, Scavenger, and Chiliarch, he had never heard of and could not correspond to any True Gods of today.

‘So, did these ancient Gods truly fall? If not, where are they now?’

He felt an additional layer of mist in his heart.

Not long after.

Hugo used magic to record so of the text and figures left in the ruins and took so bone statue fragnts, likely intending to bring them back for research.

The three of them left the ruins and continued their journey.

Two hours later.

They finally arrived at the “Giant Skull Peak”, where a giant skull as large as a mountain stood. It resembled a human but not quite; its two cavernous eye sockets were crawling with flesh vines.

The diater of these vines was roughly several ters, resembling giant pythons, writhing and twisting. The surface was covered in pulsing veins, and the exposed skin was made up of tight muscle fibers, making them quite terrifying. Scarlet rose flowers blood from the surface of these vines, exuding an eerie and bizarre beauty.

The vines grew everywhere, even blocking the path of the three.

Chen Lun looked up, feeling that the skull’s owner could very likely be the Giant King…

“Damn… How did these things appear?”

Hugo’s usual smile vanished, his face changed slightly. He cursed softly and then said in a suppressed tone:

“Be careful with these flesh plants… They are in so sense incarnations of Lady Rose, the true rulers of the Netherworld, far more terrifying than those mythical creatures!”
