Chapter 787: Chapter 486: Performance
Countless blood beads fell like rain, pitter-pattering on the marble steps, and then they slowly transford into black shadows and dissipated.
The high-ranking individuals present all fixed their gazes.
This incarnation of Houston at first glance seed to have suffered an invisible blow and was instantly killed; however, they didn’t sense any fluctuations of supernatural power in their surroundings.
“There must have been an accident with Houston’s real body,”
the head of the Royal City branch of the History and Ritual Association, Aberhard, was the first to deduce the reason and spoke in a deep voice.
“Sothing’s not right…”
The High Priest of the Hailing Group, Camacho, frowned deeply.
“Houston is also a veteran Saint. How could he be so careless as to let his real body be so easily found?”
“He just ntioned ‘Jack,’ the Mid Sequence reserve Governing Officer from the Generous Council…”
Aberhard’s eyes narrowed slightly as he turned to Camacho.
Both were sowhat surprised. How could a Mid Sequence transcendent cause such a commotion?
On another side, among the mbers of the Constellation Sect, the Silver Dragon Witch, Blaze, realized sothing. A look of indescribable expression flashed in her eyes, and the next second, without looking back, she said to the Chief Priests behind her:
“Go!”
Buzz—
Silver brilliance flickered, like a splendid curtain of stars falling down.
Blaze and the five Chief Constellation Priests behind her vanished in an instant.
“The people from the Constellation Sect have all gone to the Spirit World; it seems they know sothing…”
Aberhard said thoughtfully.
“What do you plan to do?”
Camacho gave him a look.
The middle-aged man in casual suit chuckled softly.
“Of course, I’ll follow and have a look.”
“Aren’t you attending His Majesty’s conference?”
Camacho’s dark face furrowed.
“The Generous Council can’t be absent… Besides, it doesn’t matter if we’re a little late, does it?”
As he spoke, Aberhard, along with several mbers of the Association, gradually faded and disappeared from the mortal world.
Camacho sighed and ordered the people of the Hailing Group to follow suit.
After they left, only the Moon Church and the Madman School’s higher-ups remained. The two parties fell silent for a few seconds before the gaunt, bespectacled old scholar Hernandez turned his head and politely bowed to the Nun of the Hermitage, Selma.
“Your Majesty Selma, shall we go take a look together?”
“Yes.”
The old Nun smiled and nodded.

The second layer of the Spirit World.
Within the murky deep blue vision, one could still faintly see the contours of the real world; the tall and opulent buildings of the Central District of the Royal City wavered with the distortion of the vision.
Boom!
A white three-story apartnt building collapsed thunderously.
Two shadows dashed out leaving afterimages, clashing and repelling like two high-speed spinning iron balls, generating deafening clangs.
Bright sparks flew out, the result of the shockwaves from their exchanges.
The Silver Sword appeared without warning, aid deviously at the rib cage of the man with the goatee. The latter had a grave expression and held a black sword ford of shadows in his hand, thrusting it downwards in ti to parry the blow.
Clang!
Houston’s face changed again as he felt an imnse force strike him, flinging him away. Upon landing, countless shadows erged from the ground, forming “waves” to dissipate the impact, preventing any secondary damage.
“How is this possible…”
His eyes twitched slightly, and a hoarse voice ca from his throat.
Houston first looked at his trembling hand and then at the hole that had pierced through his left chest, where an indelible muted purple fla still lingered, ceaselessly entwined with the spreading shadows around the wound.
Just monts ago, he had been lying in his “Hidden Sanctuary,” but suddenly felt an intense danger, and as his hair stood on end, he opened his eyes only to find a Silver Sword had already eerily pierced through his left chest!
If it weren’t for the fact that He had already lost the fatal weakness of a human body, the shattering of the heart might have gravely injured Him on the spot.
Even so, He lost the initiative, and in the following half minute, He endured a relentless assault and suppression from the opponent, finding no chance whatsoever to counterattack…
What astonished and perplexed Houston the most was the identity of the other party!
“Jack, you… You’ve actually ascended to a Holy Rank?! How is this possible!!”
He stared intently at the young man in the black hat not far away, growling in disbelief.
The other party held the brim of his hat with one hand and a slender Silver Sword with the other, emitting an extrely rich Mythical aura, clearly a high-ranking being of the sa tier!
“And how did you find my true body? That should have been impossible for anyone to know…”
Enduring the searing pain coming from his chest and soul, Houston’s face was filled with shock and suspicion.
“You ask too many questions, Governing Officer Houston… You only need to know one thing, and that is that your death today is certain.”
Chen Lun’s face bore a smile, yet his gaze was utterly cold.
With a slight flick of his left wrist, he raised his index finger upward, as if he were a conductor at a concert.
“Go.”
Whoosh whoosh whoosh…
Suddenly, hundreds of Magic Flying Cards erged from an invisible source, rustling as they ford a terrifying torrent of alternating red and black, surging towards Houston!
Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades intertwined, causing a montary dizziness for Houston.
He sensed the imnse power of the card torrent and imdiately turned into an invisible shadow, planning to scatter and dodge.
However, Jack on the opposing side reacted before him.
The other party, like a silent film actor on stage, switched his Silver Sword into a Staff in the blink of an eye, holding it upside down in his palm, the other hand on his hat, striking an exaggerated dodging pose.
A seemingly comical scene, but it sent cold sweat streaming down Houston’s spine.
He detected Mythical powers fluctuating, an intense unease about the unknown suddenly rising in his heart…
At that mont, Aberhard, Camacho, Blaze, Hernandez, Selma, and many other high-ranking beings suddenly appeared at the edge of the battlefield.
Houston’s attention was montarily drawn away, and the environnt of the Spirit World unfortunately underwent a slight change at the sa ti. Two small hills appeared out of nowhere on the previously open ground, hindering His movents and preventing Him from tily avoiding the torrent of flying cards…
Boom boom boom!!
Violent series of explosions, accompanied by terrible tearing noises, covered the area where Houston was.
The many high-ranking beings at the scene looked over with solemn expressions. They had almost never considered that the young man previously seen as Mid Sequence, whom they didn’t care to pay much attention to, let alone glance at twice… was now silently promoting to a high rank, beating Houston to near death!
“Destiny Faction [Joker]…”
Aberhard’s brows were deeply furrowed, his expression somber.
The exchange did not pause.
Chen Lun lifted his leg, taking an exaggerated large step, his figure instantly vanishing from the spot, appearing abruptly above the center of the explosion zone the next second.
His left hand’s fingers ignited blue flas, holding a translucent playing card between them, casually tossing the card out.
And he blew a playful whistle.
Hum!
A black polyhedron with a diater of over a hundred ters rose from the ground!
Houston, now enveloped and protected by shadows, appeared at the center of the black polyhedron. He seed not to have sustained severe injuries but looked sowhat disheveled, constantly resisting the process of space being compressed and twisted.
Voice unable to escape, only a faint image of Houston struggling violently could be seen. Chen Lun seed to have anticipated that a single “Annihilation Card” wouldn’t take care of the Conspiracy Saint, so he continued his movents, spinning the black hat atop his head into a trick, hooking it with the Silver Staff.
Bang!
Smoke billowed out, and the ordinary-looking black top hat instantly turned into a clumsy black hippopotamus floating in the air.
From afar, Chen Lun gestured to the many high-ranking beings, smiling and nodding his head in greeting.
Imdiately after, the Silver Staff in his hand was thrown out abruptly.
In a flash of silver lightning, Strength reaching nearly 400 Points struck down upon the “hippopotamus”!
Bang—
The imnse whipping shattered the Spirit World’s view at this spot, blurring the area around the “hippopotamus,” with shockwaves spreading out tens to hundreds of ters.
Inside the black polyhedron, Houston, originally well-protected by the shadow Armor, seed to be affected by an invisible chain reaction, exploding into pieces from within the shadows! The strong twisting forces around imdiately captured those remnants, churning them into a mass!
Surprise showed in the eyes of the high-ranking beings.
“This guy…”
Aberhard squinted his eyes.
