Chapter 644: Chapter 426 Monunt and Bronze Gate Chapter 644: Chapter 426 Monunt and Bronze Gate The team groped slowly through the dark, reaching deep into the ruins of the city.
Based on the distribution of the terrain and the architectural remnants, they had arrived in a region close to the central area, slightly to the north. Chen Lun and Hamilton, the two team leaders, each issued orders to the mbers of the first and second squads, instructing them to scatter and search for any remaining information about the ruins.
A dozen minutes later.
“Captain Hamilton! We’ve found half a stele!”
A young male mber of the second squad ca to the rendezvous point and said to his captain.
Under the faint light, Chen Lun and Hamilton exchanged glances before nodding to each other in silent agreent.
“Where is it? Lead us there.”
Hamilton said in a deep voice.
“Yes, Captain, please follow !”
The team mber led the way, with Chen Lun and Hamilton following closely behind.
After winding through the dark, Chen Lun felt the environnt around them seed to open up, as they hadn’t encountered any more building debris for quite a long ti.
“It seems to be another square here,”
Hamilton said softly.
“Hmm, it’s very similar to the area where we fought earlier. This symtrical planning and design remind of the human city-states during the Second Era,”
Chen Lun said thoughtfully as sothing ca to his mind.
Hamilton and the other team mbers were sowhat surprised, not expecting Captain Jack to be so knowledgeable, even about such ancient and hidden matters.
However, Chen Lun was inwardly reflecting, as this was just so information he had dug up on a side quest in his past life.
Soon, they arrived in front of the half stele ntioned by Hamilton’s subordinate.
The stele stood in the center of the square, atop a trapezoidal cylindrical base, polished incredibly smooth, bearing a square stele, but due to the ravages of ti and so unknown factors, most of it was missing, leaving only a third connected to the base.
“Leia, co here and see what is inscribed on this monunt,”
Hamilton imdiately called the female team mber over.
She hurried forward, and under the illumination of a light no larger than a grain of rice, she carefully examined the tadpole-shaped ancient characters, simultaneously extending her finger to gently touch the indentations to ascertain their original form.
“… the Royal Family of Anita finally succeeded in connecting with the Starry Sky, and the king and his descendants acquired supernatural powers like that of the Elves, Giants, Magical Beasts, and the Dragon Race, the Kingdom is on the rise, and humans will no longer be slaves or an inferior race… Oh great deities ‘Master of Destiny,’ ‘World Tree,’ ‘Star of Enlightennt,’ ‘Dragon of Light,’ and ‘King of Giants,’ please forgive us greedy ones, for we have believed in the new gods from the Starry Sky; it is only when the Sun Moon Stars shine that humanity can sparkle…”
The female team mber Leia stumbled over the translation, then lifted her head to look at the people around her and said in a soft voice:
“That’s roughly what it says, so characters are too blurry for to recognize…”
“That’s sufficient, Leia, you’ve done well,”
Hamilton said, nodding in appreciation and speaking in a low voice.
Leia smiled lightly and moved back into the team.
At that mont, Hamilton turned his head to look at Chen Lun, casting an inquisitive gaze:
“What do you think, Jack?”
“Through the inscriptions on the monunt, I can roughly determine the era of the ruins…”
Chen Lun spoke thoughtfully.
“It must be during the transition of several hundred years between the Second Era, the ‘Fairy Tale Era,’ and the Third Era, the ‘Starry Sky Era.'”
Under the weak light, he noticed a hint of confusion on the faces of everyone around him and chuckled softly to explain:
“I don’t know much either, but it’s said that during the ‘Fairy Tale Era,’ humans struggled to survive on this continent as the Transcendents had not yet appeared, and various Supernatural Creatures road around. Even though humans established Kingdoms and united in solidarity, they had difficulty fending off frequent attacks… The content recorded on this monunt should be from the very beginning of the ‘Starry Sky Era,’ when faith in the Sun God, Moon Goddess, and Star God was born, and they bestowed supernatural powers on humanity, allowing them to survive in that extrely harsh environnt.”
People frowned slightly and exchanged glances.
“The faith of the Sun Moon Stars originated in the Third Era?”
Hamilton mused.
Chen Lun then continued:
“However, I didn’t expect that humans from the Ancient Era had so early believed in deities associated with Destiny, Nature, and Magic… They are far older than we imagined.”
“The ‘Master of Destiny,’ ‘World Tree,’ and ‘Star of Enlightennt’ ntioned on the monunt…”
Hamilton muttered.
“What about the ‘Dragon of Light’ and the ‘King of Giants’?”
“I don’t know; I have never heard of these two Deities either,”
Chen Lun shook his head.
After discussing with the team mbers for a while, Hamilton looked up and said to Chen Lun:
“It’s a pity, although this information is valuable, it doesn’t help our investigation… So far, we have co up empty-handed regarding the source of pollution.”
“Let’s keep pushing forward; we are bound to find the answers,”
Chen Lun said consolingly.
Unexpectedly, Hamilton sighed and shook his head lightly.
“I plan to lead the team back first and report the situation to the Judgnt Chief… the dangers of the Dark World exceed our expectations; not only has the second squad sacrificed two mbers, but the rest are also quite exhausted…”
He looked up, patted Chen Lun on the shoulder, and a rare smile appeared on his austere face:
