Chapter 428: Chapter 292: Sin Sinks

Peacock City.

East District Port.

Under the cover of nightfall, a colossal cargo ship sat quietly at the dock, inconspicuous.

Dozens of n clad in blue denim vests and wearing duck-billed caps were scattered across the area, either smoking or chatting casually. From ti to ti, they would glance around, their eyes filled with vigilance and scrutiny.

They were mbers of the Blue Sail Gang, stationed to guard the ship against any suspicious individuals drawing near.

Although there was so power and money trading with the Security Office, there wasn’t too much to worry about in terms of official inspection; however, basic precautions were still necessary, after all, those boarding the ship for the “Treasure Hunt eting” were all influential dignitaries.

...

A small error could have dire consequences.

A carriage approached slowly at this mont.

A few n in blue vests stepped forward briskly, cautiously stopping it while putting their hands on the small of their backs, prepared to draw flintlock guns at any sign of trouble.

The coachman seed quite familiar with the place, adeptly producing a boat ticket and handing it to a man in a blue vest standing below.

“The ticket is in order, may I ask which gentleman is here to board the ‘Treasure Hunt’?”

After carefully inspecting the ticket, the man in the blue vest handed it back to the coachman.

The coachman stuffed it back into the inner pocket of his suit and smiled faintly,

“Baron Hodgson.”

Having said this, the curtain of the carriage was pulled aside from within, revealing the face of a young man with a small mustache. He grinned, casually tossed a handful of Silver Ducats out the window, and then said,

“Thank you for your trouble, this is a tip for you.”

The n in blue vests were overjoyed, squatting on the ground to pick up the silver coins, and then they said,

“Good night, Lord Baron Hodgson, may you have a pleasant treasure hunt!”

They bowed respectfully, lowering their heads.

After the curtains fell, the carriage continued forward, and the rest of the n in blue vests returned to their “posts,” resuming their patrol, and marveling at how the wealthy truly had money to spare.

The carriage finally stopped next to the ship’s gangway, and Baron Hodgson alighted alone, adjusting his hat, and leaning on a Silver Staff, boarded the cargo ship.

The coachman, after watching his master board the ship, then drove the carriage away.

However, no one saw that inside the carriage was another Baron Hodgson!

He was bound hand and foot, sprawled disgracefully on the ground, having long since fallen into unconsciousness. A dirty sock was stuffed in his mouth, it was unknown whether he would vomit his last al upon waking up.

Chen Lun walked straight into the cabin, what surprised him was that there were checks at every level, fortunately, his appearance was transford by the “Ultimate Beauty,” and these ordinary people didn’t harbor any suspicion.

After three rounds of checks, Chen Lun finally entered the vast dining area.

It didn’t look like the inside of a cargo ship at all; instead, it resembled a richly decorated palace. Marble tables were arranged in order and adorned with nurous exquisite foods and fine wines, while gentlen and ladies were thoroughly enjoying themselves, toasting and rry-making.

Chen Lun found himself a secluded corner to avoid eting any of Baron Hodgson’s acquaintances, then chuckled lightly as he observed everything going on in the hall.

In a sumptuous bedroom on the upper deck, Viscount Harrington and several leaders of the Black Knife Brotherhood were drinking, observing the high society crowd in the dining room through a large one-way glass.

“Viscount Harrington is truly the uncrowned king of Peacock City. In just a few days, you’ve managed to gather the goods, and our Treasure Hunt eting can be held as scheduled… There seem to be a few more guests than usual this ti, surely today’s gain will be even more substantial.”

A gaunt man said with a smile.

He picked up a glass of red wine and nodded towards Viscount Harrington.

“Heh, I just hope you won’t drop the ball next ti; you always make exert myself.”

The viscount replied with a faint smile, likewise taking a sip of red wine.

“How about that little favor I asked you to handle?”

“There was an incident.”

“Hmm?”

Viscount Harrington frowned slightly, passing his wine glass to the side, where a well-wrapped, towering bodyguard took it from him.

“We sent over twenty Blue Sail Gang strong-ard n and two of our Brotherhood’s brothers… but none of them ca back, all dead,” the gaunt man said gravely.

“Viscount, that young man you ntioned, he’s really not simple… He’s definitely a Transcendent, and not so greenhorn.”

Viscount Harrington was quite annoyed by this news. He fell silent for a few seconds, then looked up to the Black Knife Brotherhood’s leader and said,

“I’ve already told you, he might well be a Transcendent… but it’s no use talking about that now. Since we have already beco enemies, the only way to end future threats is to kill him. What are your plans?”

“After the Treasure Hunt eting is over, I will have the three ‘Black Knives’ of Peacock City take action personally. It’s because of them that the Shelter dare not touch us easily…”

“That’s reassuring.”

“Please welco the next batch of ‘treasures’ to the stage, ladies and gentlen interested in treasure digging, may start bidding now!”

In the dining room, the lively atmosphere had gradually reached its peak.

On the steps directly in front of him, a host in a suit and leather shoes was enthusiastically explaining, while several burly n in blue vests carried cages onto the stage.

Inside these cages were undressed won, displayed on the stage like livestock for people to appraise. Their heads and torsos, however, were wrapped in simple white cloths, seemingly intending not to let the clients easily see the “truth” and thus stimulate their “curiosity”.

Chen Lun sat in a corner, watching the scene with interest.

‘Human trafficking auctions are getting fancier, I’m truly impressed by these people’s lack of scruples…’

His gaze shifted from the trembling won in the cages to the black glass above, revealing a cold smirk.

The gentlen and ladies present began to bid, as if they had shed their daily disguises in the city; they now turned into beasts, thirsty for the “delicacies within the cages”.

Chen Lun’s eyes suddenly narrowed.

At that mont, he received a mission prompt.

[Triggered a B-level Mission: Abyss of Sin!]

Mission Description: An auction of won is being held aboard the “Treasure Hunt eting”, and countless society elites are going mad for it. Behind all this are sin and brutality. You can choose to intervene, or turn a blind eye.

Mission Target: Investigate the mastermind behind the “Treasure Hunt eting” and stop the auction.

Mission Rewards: 20,000 Experience Points, 50 Gold Pounds, and Affection with Peacock City Shelter. (This mission contains hidden rewards)

‘Peacock City Shelter, along with hidden rewards… It seems that this auction involves more than I imagined.’

Chen Lun accepted the mission, then slowly stood up, intending to turn around and leave the dining area.

‘But it doesn’t matter… Investigate the mastermind? Stop the auction? I don’t think it’s necessary…’

Just as he reached the door, a bald man with a beard approached him, his corpulent figure making his gentlemanly attire seem sowhat comical.

The bald man looked at Chen Lun with surprise.

“Hey, Baron Harrington, didn’t we agree to co here together? How did you get here first…”

“Sorry, I was a bit too eager.”

Chen Lun responded with a smile and opened his arms.

The bearded bald man laughed heartily, sharing a look of camaraderie with Chen Lun, and naturally embraced him.

Chen Lun, like a true friend, lightly patted the man’s shoulder, then pushed him away and walked straight out.

The bearded bald man looked stunned for a mont, then walked into the dining area with a daze, grabbing a glass of strong liquor from a passing waiter. He went a few steps further, snapped a candle from a table, and ignited the liquor in the glass.

Then, under the frightened gazes of several gentlen and ladies, he violently threw the glass forward.

Crash!

The glass shattered, and the flaming liquor splashed around, instantly igniting the surrounding carpets and tablecloths. Orange-red flas began to spread, and the noise of chaos, along with the terrified screams and shouts, followed.

Chen Lun paid no attention to the chaos behind him, heading directly to the stairs to the next level.

A few blue-vested n were patrolling the hallway, enjoying the night view while smoking. Although they heard the fierce commotion, they showed no reaction, apparently used to such noise and not taking it seriously.

But then, they noticed a gentleman slowly walking towards them down the corridor.

“Hey, sir, is there anything we can help you with?”

One of the blue-vested n asked respectfully.

“Help check the sea and see if you’ll find your graves there.”

Chen Lun approached slowly, his voice soft.

The blue-vested n suddenly froze, not understanding what the gentleman was talking about, thinking he might be drunk.

The next second.

Whoosh! Bang bang!!

The Silver Staff was swung casually, crushing the chins and necks of several blue-vested n, who flipped over the railing and fell into the sea, making a few light splashing sounds.

“Sir, what are you doing?!”

Seeing this, a few more blue-vested n who were slightly farther back imdiately drew their Flintlock Guns, shouting with a mixture of bravado and trepidation.

Chen Lun kept smiling and strode forward.

The blue-vested n clenched their teeth, ready to pull the trigger.

But the Silver Staff was faster than they anticipated, smashing their wrist bones, and a second later, it landed on their faces.

Thump thump thump!

The remaining blue-vested n all fell into the sea, with no place to be buried, leaving the hallway suddenly empty.

Chen Lun walked straight to a pressure hatch.

He hadn’t yet moved to open the door, but it was instead opened from the inside first.

A skinny man looked at him, quite surprised, even stunned for a mont. However, the man reacted quickly, and the next second, he drew a sharp knife from his bosom and stabbed towards him.

Bang!!

The mont the knife was thrust, the Silver Staff struck the attacker’s forehead with the speed of lightning, making a loud noise.

The skinny man’s body was flung back into the room, slumping on the floor like a pile of mud. His head was grotesquely twisted, the front caved in with a huge dent, even split into two, with sticky crimson sludge spilling out.
