Chapter 290: Chapter 211 I’m Not Joking (Requesting Monthly Votes!)

Chen Lun suddenly turned his head.

Under that black hat were a pair of indifferent eyes.

“No evidence, so you’re going to play tough?”

A layer of pale armor covered his palm, and it instantly beca tinged with a dark black exoskeleton.

He threw two straight punches with extre speed. Before the two opponents could react, they landed heavily on their palms.

Bang bang!

Two loud noises.

The two black-clothed Executioners stumbled back a few steps, covering their imnsely painful palms, looking at Chen Lun in disbelief.

“Very well, you dare to act openly in the Shelter!”

A man sneered.

“Suppress him!”

Another man bellowed.

Moisture emanated from their bodies, their faces marred with bulging veins, and arcs of electricity flashed between their hands as they charged.

These were two mbers of the Deep Sea Faction, Sequence Seven Shark Fighters!

Chen Lun watched them with cold eyes.

If he had remained a low Sequence Transcendent, he likely wouldn’t stand a chance by now, and could have been falsely accused and forced to carry an inexplicable charge.

But ever since he had advanced to Mid Sequence, he had gained a certain level of confidence and backbone.

Especially after clashing with Akebin, he had co to understand his limits, approximately where they lay… Under normal circumstances, he was equivalent to a Veteran Sequence Seven, and after entering his regular state, he could fight against Sequence Six Transcendents.

Once he reached his limit state, he could suppress a Veteran Sequence Six for a short ti, even achieving a kill!

Chen Lun didn’t want to put up with this nonsense and imdiately entered his regular state.

Boom!

He struck later but arrived first, hitting the chests of his two assailants with another pair of punches. Their eyes bulged out as intense pain swept through their bodies from their hearts, and then they were sent flying backwards, crashing to the ground heavily.

One of them even hit the corner of an iron table, clanging loudly.

Traces of moisture and electricity danced on Chen Lun’s body, crackling, but they were ineffective against him.

Chen Lun then flicked three cards towards Laisley.

Whiz whiz whiz!

As a mber of the Constellation Faction, Sequence Seven Heart Thief, she stretched out to trigger Chen Lun’s Heart Twist but was interrupted by the cards. Dodging helplessly, two cards nailed into the wall, and one sliced across her pretty face.

“Damn it…”

Laisley did not bother to wipe the blood from her cheek, her face flushed with anger, ready to take action again, but then she found that there was no one in front of her.

The next second.

A pale hand erged beside her, already grasping her neck, and a low male voice sounded:

“Madam, I don’t want to know why you’re so intensely hateful, but I want to make one thing clear: If you think you can mold at will like those other wild Transcendents, then you’re mistaken.”

“Heh heh… The plague… has already killed tens of thousands of people. This catastrophe, how many innocent lives lost… you…”

Laisley’s eyes flickered with hatred, seemingly convinced that the man before her was deeply connected to Akebin. At the sa ti, she noticed that her two Executioner companions had already stood up.

In her expectant gaze, the two n in black launched their punches at the sa ti. A surge of spiraling water and electricity, accompanied by sparks, headed straight for Chen Lun’s back.

Boom!

But the next mont, Laisley was stunned.

From the shoulders of the man in front of her sprouted two hefty White Pythons, which snapped at the attack, and then thrust forward, coiling around the necks of the two Executioners, suspending them mid-air.

They struggled against the White Pythons, kicking and flailing, but to no avail.

Laisley also suddenly felt a choking sensation and was lifted into the air, pressed against the wall by Chen Lun.

The three mbers of the Executioner squad showed disbelief in their eyes. In just a few exchanges, they had been subdued by the black-haired young man before them, treated like toys being picked up.

They were elite Transcendents from the Shelter, Executioners who upheld the order of the Empire!

In front of this man… they were so weak?!

What was even more unacceptable to them was that the Supernatural Power emanating from their adversary was obviously on par with their own, belonging to the Sequence Seven level.

Why?

Why was he so strong?!

A strong sense of confusion and unwillingness churned in their hearts, accompanied by the slight shaking of the ceiling tiles, as if their moods were also caught in the flickering lights, waxing and waning.

“Madam, do you still think I’m joking with you?”

Chen Lun looked up slightly, his erald vertical pupils eting hers, his cold gaze piercing straight into Laisley’s soul.

Laisley suddenly couldn’t help but think.

“Could it be… I’m wrong? He truly has the strength to repel Akebin… No! He must be deceiving ! These brutal thugs are cunning and deceitful. Have you forgotten all those criminals you’ve t before, Laisley?”

Lack of oxygen turned her complexion red, her eyes bloodshot, as she struggled to speak from her throat:

“You… if you have the guts… then kill… !”

“You think I wouldn’t dare?”

Chen Lun snorted coldly.

He tightened his grip and Laisley imdiately felt like she was going to die.

Of course, Chen Lun wouldn’t kill her; he was asured in his actions, simply wanting to make her suffer for a mont.

He wouldn’t kill a mber of the Executioner squad in a fit of rage, thus incurring a warrant for his arrest, which would only confirm the charges against him. He was not that foolish.

The woman before him probably belonged to the sa radical faction as Roderick, feeling a strong suspicion and hostility towards any independent Transcendent. To deal with them, he had to show his fangs, not submissiveness or capitulation.

Clang!

At that mont, the iron door to the interrogation room was opened, and the figure of a man walked in.

“Please let them go, Mr. Jack.”

Talelang sighed.

“I only wanted Laisley to ask you briefly about Akebin; I didn’t expect it would end up like this…”

Chen Lun chuckled lightly.

He casually tossed Laisley aside, and the White Python on his shoulder flung the two male Executioners out as if they were trash, landing them at Talelang’s feet.

With a few thuds, they coughed violently before raising their heads to glare at Chen Lun with anger.

“I am Talelang, captain of Executioner Squad No. 27. I think there has been a misunderstanding, Mr. Jack…”

Talelang said.

“I have learned of your exploits from Miss Mona; you are a gentleman to be respected… You once saved Amber City and strive to maintain its stability and peace… Surely, you would have no connection with Akebin.”

He stepped forward and extended his hand, showing a hint of apology.

“On behalf of my team mbers, I apologize to you.”

“Captain!”

The trio’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Chen Lun glanced at the middle-aged man with brown hair, sensing a hint of danger from him.

‘This is a Sequence Five powerhouse… I shouldn’t start a conflict with him here.’

Chen Lun released his usual posture and briefly shook hands with him, saying:

“Since Mr. Talelang puts it that way, I won’t pursue the matter further.”

He didn’t plan to linger there any longer and gestured with his hand.

Talelang tactfully stepped back, clearing the way for him.

Chen Lun passed by him and walked a few steps but then stopped, turning his head to add:

“I’m not sure of Akebin’s intentions, but the true culprit of the plague outbreak, the Red Apple Church, is more suspect… Whether you believe it or not is up to you to decide.”

After finishing his words, he adjusted his black hat and left straight away.

Talelang raised his hand to stop the words Laisley was about to say and silently watched the tall departing figure, with a profound look in his eyes.

Chen Lun was walking on the street, glancing up at the sky.

It was already afternoon, and he decided to just find a restaurant along the road to handle the missed lunch, as he wouldn’t be able to have a warm al when he returned to the manor anyway… Floey most likely would have slept in her own room during the day, like a vampire.

‘Becoming more and more like those hobody girls from my previous life… Hmm.’

Chen Lun muttered to himself, then slightly regretted not having had a al at the Shelter before leaving.

He quickened his pace, heading towards the Fighting Club where he planned to have his al and then check the place out. As Bales had not approached him since he completed the test mission, he was unclear what had happened.

Eventually, he found a nicely decorated restaurant nad “Spicy Bomb,” went in, and ordered a signature dish, which was just fried onion rings with smoked grilled tenderloin, accompanied by a glass of mild black beer.

Chen Lun asked the waiter to replace the beer with iced milk, which left the waiter stunned for several seconds.

In the end, it took a tip of two Silver Ducats to snap the waiter out of his stupor, and he scurried off to prepare the order.

The al was average overall, far from Floey’s standard, but considered top-notch for Amber City.

After finishing his al, Chen Lun left the restaurant and took nearly half an hour to reach the Fighting Club’s entrance.

As soon as he entered, he saw that handso old man Xibert, who seed to have just finished sword training, wiping his sweat as he ca out, holding a cup in his hand.

“Hey! Mr. Jack! It’s been a long ti since I’ve seen you!”

Xibert spotted Chen Lun right away and strode over quickly.

“Mr. Xibert, indeed it has been a long ti.”

Chen Lun exchanged a few simple pleasantries with him.

“What brings you here today, planning to… hmm?”

Xibert wiggled his eyebrows and gave a knowing look, signaling Chen Lun to glance toward the front desk where a curvaceous blonde woman was sitting.

“The previous one, I heard her family was struck by the plague, sothing happened, this is a new girl, looks quite delectable… Don’t you want to give it a try?”

“Hmm, Mr. Xibert, only a gentleman like you still gains favor from beautiful ladies… I’ll pass.”

Chen Lun chuckled in response.

Xibert imdiately looked disdainful, as if “You’re so hypocritical” was written on his forehead.

“I ca here today to have a chat with Mr. Charles.”

Chen Lun stated his purpose for coming.

Unexpectedly, Xibert froze, then the smile faded, and he said in a low voice:

“Mr. Charles passed away last week… A sudden heart attack.”

“He’s dead?”

Chen Lun was sowhat surprised.

He thought to himself that Bales seed to have abandoned this body, but it was unknown where he had gone now.

“I’ve acquired this club; I am now the owner here. If there’s anything you need, you can tell …”

Xibert said.

Chen Lun observed the man inconspicuously, having guessed that this fellow’s identity wasn’t simple, but he didn’t expect him to be so wealthy.

“I’d like to know if Charles left anything special behind before he died, like a will or sothing…”

“Oh, there might actually be sothing!”

Xibert seed to recall sothing.

“When I was clearing out his forr office, I found a strange handicraft. If you’re interested, I can take you to see it now.”
