Chapter 223: Chapter 174: Shepherd Aaron (Three-in-one vote request!)

“`

“What exactly does ‘wooden hut’ refer to here? What’s the point of looking for it?”

The Horseman spoke up, posing this question to the others.

“Maybe it’s so sort of checkpoint? A milestone? Judging from the quest description, there has to be more than one of them, and they must serve an important purpose.”

Polaris voiced his hypothesis.

“Let’s go check it out.”

Dongyang pointed at a wooden hut not far away, then, with a call to Horseman and Kuang Benkuang, the three players from the Hall of Valor guild took the lead and headed towards that hut.

“But…”

Polaris frowned.

“The quest hints that there are dangers lurking around the wooden huts. We should be more cautious.”

The quest reward explicitly stated that the player with the highest Contribution Degree could choose a piece of Supernatural Knowledge from the faction, which made Polaris very tempted.

He resolved to strive for the highest Contribution Degree and acquire that piece of Supernatural Knowledge.

Therefore, he was particularly invested in this quest, not wanting his teammates to die unnecessarily and waste Resurrection chances, lest the quest ended in failure.

But Dongyang seed unconcerned, stopping in his tracks to say:

“This is intelligence that we must know, even if there’s danger. It’s worth using a life to obtain this information.”

He motioned them onward and continued leading Horseman and Kuang Benkuang forward.

Chenxi thought there was so logic in Dongyang’s words and so proceeded to follow the three ahead, bringing Honey Polo along.

“Polaris, what should we do?”

Su Keying ca to Polaris’s side and asked.

Wei Yin, Doghead Gold, and Forget No Taboo stood behind her.

Having gone through the Immortal Realm journey together during the beta test, they trusted Polaris’s judgnt.

“Don’t stick together to avoid a group wipe. Let’s keep so distance and follow them…”

Polaris inhaled deeply before speaking.

Their trust in him lifted his spirits.

“If any accident occurs, we’ll be able to provide tily help.”

After saying that, Polaris headed towards the wooden hut.

The others nodded and followed closely.

Two groups, one leading and the other following, were tens of ters apart, slowly closing the distance to the wooden hut.

Dongyang looked back at Polaris’s team and chuckled, shaking his head.

At that mont.

Black smoke rose from behind a tree.

“Careful! Sothing’s up!”

The Horseman shouted a warning.

The rest promptly drew their weapons, which were generally a set of chanical Gloves for each, paired with a Firearm.

The Horseman himself took out that soup-spoon-shaped Mysterious Object and instantly transford it into a long “Iron Shovel,” gripping it in his hand.

He saw himself as the warrior out in front, tasked with protecting his teammates in the back.

Amidst the spreading black smoke, a humanoid creature with an indistinct face erged from behind the tree.

It wore a straw hat and wielded a Lumberjack Axe.

“Danger! It’s a red-nad ‘Lethal’ elite monster! Focus fire!”

Dongyang used Scout and shouted out.

He then lifted his Firearm and pulled the trigger at the Woodcutter.

Bang!!

Flas erupted, and countless tiny steel balls battered the creature, scattering sparks of black smoke.

“!!”

Dongyang’s eyes widened.

He noticed that the Woodcutter rely paused for an instant before picking up its pace again, marching towards them.

“I refuse to believe I can’t kill you!”

Dongyang clenched his teeth and said coldly.

“Fire!”

He reloaded and opened fire on the Woodcutter once more.

Those around him, aside from Horseman, also lifted their guns to shoot.

Bang! Bang Bang Bang!!

A barrage of gunfire caused the black smoke on the Woodcutter to warp and swirl. Its body, under the barrage of tiny steel balls, retreated repeatedly, skewing and deforming.

Finally, the Woodcutter lost balance, tumbled backwards from the hail of bullets, and fell to the ground.

There was a thud, kicking up dust.

“Well done!”

Dongyang exhaled and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

“Vice Guild Master, sothing seems off.”

The Horseman furrowed his brow.

He tightened his grip on the long-handled spoon, intently watching the humanoid monster on the ground, still emitting black smoke.

The absence of a kill notification told everyone that the creature nad “Woodcutter” hadn’t died yet.

“Not only is it not dead, but I can’t even see a single injury on it!”

The Horseman said grimly.

“Indeed… That black smoke seems to be healing its wounds.”

When Chenxi and the others took a closer look, they all frowned.

“Could this be so sort of undying monster?!”

Dongyang clenched his fists.

“Try using fire!”

At this ti, Polaris and his group arrived from behind. He suggested as he activated his chanical Gloves, casting out a high-temperature Fireball.

Boom!!

The Fireball smashed into the smoky Woodcutter, erupting into intense flas.

The specially formulated fuel adhered to its body’s surface, causing the fire to burn relentlessly, crackling explosively.

The Woodcutter writhed violently on the ground, black smoke billowing as it seed to be in pain.

“It’s working!”

Dongyang’s eyes brightened.

“Everyone use your gloves to spray fire!”

He looked at Polaris in surprise and quickly called his teammates to spray flas from their chanical Gloves.

Boom——!!

The group aid at the Woodcutter on the ground, unleashing several streams of fire.

Roar!!

Amidst the flas and pervasive smoke, a beast-like roar could be heard.

Whoosh…!

The fire continued for seven or eight seconds, and steam began to gush from their chanical Gloves, which were clearly overstressed by the operation.

As the flas subsided, they saw a pitch-black hole scorched into the ground, the inner walls turned crystalline around the edges, steaming and distorting the air.
