Evening, Saint Roland City.

A young man with short, flaxen hair sat in a tavern on the edge of the city district. A glass of beer rested before him, seemingly waiting for soone.

A few minutes later, a black-haired man walked into the tavern and sat beside the young man.

“Mr. Lodi, it’s you, right?”

“Yes.” Lodi nodded. “And you are?”

The black-haired young man rolled up his sleeve, revealing a wolf head tattoo on his arm to Lodi.

He was the gate guard from the Iron Wolf rcenary Group.

Seeing this, Lodi imdiately understood the young man’s identity. He nodded, then asked, “How did things go?”

“We’ve taken the people to a warehouse. It’s empty there now.”

“By the way, why did they send you this ti? For such a big deal, isn’t Mudrick coming personally?” Lodi asked, showing a puzzled expression.

“Uh... about that, the rcenary group has bigger things to handle recently. Therefore, for completed tasks, they could only send soone relatively new like ,” the rcenary said, scratching his head, his tone sowhat awkward.

“Right, about the final paynt...”

“I’ll settle it with you after I’ve seen the people.” Lodi stood up. “Take there now.”

“Alright.” The rcenary didn’t say anything upon hearing this and quickly got up, leading the way for Lodi.

The transaction location was a more remote warehouse. Following behind the rcenary, Lodi, for so reason, felt a constant sense of unease.

As if he was being watched by soone.

Arriving at the warehouse, Lodi imdiately saw the person tied up with ropes and hooded in the empty space.

Just then, soone tapped Lodi on the shoulder.

Lodi turned around and was nearly scared to death.

Wasn’t this the assassin he had separately hired to assassinate people close to Orson?

At the ti, the task he gave the assassin was to kill Orson or soone close to him. Successfully assassinating Orson would earn a reward of three hundred thousand gold coins, while assassinating Litte would only yield one hundred thousand gold coins.

But he had specifically hired an assassin with absolutely no connection to the Iron Wolf rcenary Group. Why would this person appear here now?

“Why are you here?” Lodi frowned, looking at the assassin. “As I recall, you shouldn’t know anyone from the Iron Wolf rcenary Group, right?”

“Ah, apologies. I just saw you on the way here, so I thought I’d report the progress to you.”

The assassin said this, showing an apologetic expression.

“If you don’t want associated with them, I’ll leave right now.”

“It’s fine.” Lodi shook his head. “How is the task I assigned you going?”

The assassin glanced at the rcenary beside Lodi, organized his thoughts, then spoke, “It’s being handled. I recently found an opportunity, should be able to succeed soon.”

“Then get it done quickly. The deposit I gave you wasn’t small. If you don’t care about that money, there are plenty of others who would do it,” Lodi said, sounding displeased.

“I know, I know.” The assassin nodded, then left the warehouse.

Lodi glanced at the two hooded figures in the center of the warehouse, then asked, “Are they Andre and Jennie?”

“Yes.” The rcenary nodded. “We’ve rented this warehouse for so ti now. The rent costs quite a bit each day. When do you plan to take these two people away?”

“Seriously, this place, the rent is so little, not even a fraction of the commission fee, and you guys care about such a small amount?” Lodi sounded quite dissatisfied. “Don’t rush. We’ll send soone to pick them up later.”

Saying this, he deliberately walked up to the bags, lifted one, and looked at the two people lying inside.

“We used so small tricks to make them not resist,” the rcenary said, following Lodi.

A bead of sweat dripped from his forehead. If Lodi hadn’t been focused on the kidnapped couple at that mont, he probably would have noticed sothing amiss from the rcenary’s expression.

“They’re not dead, are they?” Hearing the rcenary’s words, Lodi’s hand paused.

He didn’t want to lift the bag only to find two dead bodies inside; that would be too unlucky.

“Of course not dead,” the rcenary stated. “We strictly followed the requirents in the contract. You know the professional standards of the Iron Wolf rcenary Group. We’ve... already cooperated so many tis, haven’t we?”

“Tch.” Lodi glanced dismissively at the rcenary. “The number of collaborations has nothing to do with a newcor like you. Don’t think too highly of yourself. In the past, at least your vice-captain would receive .”

“Ah, apologies, apologies.”

Subsequently, Lodi lifted the bag and looked at the two sleeping middle-aged couples inside.

While Lodi was carefully examining them, the rcenary was already trembling slightly with nervousness.

After a long mont, Lodi closed the bag again, then looked at the rcenary.

Suddenly, he revealed a smile.

“Um... sir, you... what are you smiling about?”

“You seem very nervous?”

“Uh...” The rcenary froze. Just as he was unsure what to say and about to cast a pleading look towards the shadows in the corner of the warehouse, Lodi spoke again.

“Was it my behavior just now that made you think I’m a difficult person to deal with?”

“It’s alright, I’ve checked. The people are fine, vital signs are present. Your mission was completed very well.” Saying this, he patted the rcenary’s shoulder.

“I’m just like this. As long as the task I arranged is completed, I’m a very easy person to talk to.” Subsequently, he took out ten gold coins from his pocket and handed them to the rcenary.

“Expenses are high in Saint Roland City. Take these ten gold coins, go have a drink, or find a less fancy place and get a few country girls to keep you company.” Then, he walked to the warehouse entrance.

“Alright, I’ll send soone here to pick up the people later. I’ll settle the rent for you then too.”

“Okay, thank you, much appreciated!” The rcenary said this, breathing a sigh of relief. The tension in his heart eased, and he bowed towards Lodi.

“It’s nothing.” Lodi waved his hand. “It seems your superiors think highly of you, sending you on this kind of mission for the first ti.”

Saying this, he turned and walked out of the warehouse.

Subsequently, from the shadows, Virgil erged.

He looked at the rcenary, then glanced towards the entrance.

“Um... Sir, how did I do on this mission?” the rcenary looked expectantly at Virgil.

“It was acceptable,” Virgil nodded.

However, this mission, wasn’t it completed a bit too smoothly?
