[Batch Number 25, head to the field!]

"Guess its my turn..."

Evelina laughed as she entered the academy grounds from her assigned post near the edge of the academy’s great forest.

And she knew she had to make an entrance.

[Abyssal Lance]

Dozens of lances appeared behind her like a halo of death, spinning like bullets from a revolver’s cylinder, all waiting to be fired and eliminate their targets with near-perfect accuracy.

She drew power not only from darkyte but also from her contract with a succubus and the essence she had taken from .

And it didn’t take long for her first target to appear.

Two professors, both of them ice mages.

"It’s Evelina."

"Out of everyone..."

The two professors imdiately took positions beside each other, making sure to cover each other’s blind spots as they prepared.

But no amount of preparation could make them survive what will happen next.

snap!

The abyssal lances shot forward like rounds from an assault rifle, each one instantly replaced by the next in an unending barrage.

"She’s fast!"

[Ice Wall]

The other professor focused on defense, while the other focused on offense. Normally, they would be hellish to deal with.

But that didn’t apply to Evelina.

They both knew they needed to focus on defense.

[Absolute Zero]

The two spells flared out, the second one slowing down the lances before it struck the ice wall.

But even with their destructive force significantly weakened, it wasn’t enough.

Their sheer overwhelming numbers completely overpowered the defense in less than a second.

CRACK-SLASH!

CRACK-SLASH!

CRACK-SLASH!

"She’s already started, let’s not waste more ti!"

The mont I heard the observers’ announcent, I knew Kevin and I should move.

She already eliminated two professors the mont she got out. I couldn’t disappoint her by getting outpaced imdiately.

[Ding!]

[Ding!]

[Ding!]

The sounds of the announcents were starting to rise as more ti went on; it seed like most students had finally started to fight, and from the explosions going on in the background.

It was clear most had joined up and turned into an entire army of mages against the professors.

But... that sa advantage is going to end up being their downfall once the stronger professors start to join in.

"Kevin, there!"

As Kevin and I neared a building, we imdiately saw a professor patrolling from the inside.

And with how durable the first one we fought was, we’re no longer taking chances.

It’s finally ti for to use the more advanced spells in the book.

[Profaned Shadow Parade]

Kevin imdiately followed as he saw cast the spell, imdiately doubling our combat effectiveness, the exact reason why I wanted him on my team.

[Shadow Parade]

The professor in the building’s hallway didn’t even get a chance as a hundred mindless, shadowy constructs crashed through the walls, overwhelming him imdiately and trampling over him like a stampede.

Didn’t take long for an observer to intervene and rescue him, just like with the last one.

[Ding!]

*** Observer’s Deck

"They’re dropping like flies."

The main observer disappointedly muttered, staring at the academy’s faculty like they personally insulted him.

How could the professors of such an esteed academy get overwheld so quickly by a bunch of students? Even if the students were capable, the professors were too spread apart, making them easy pickings.

But one of the observers only smiled, a high-ranking professor from the academy.

"Don’t worry, it’s all intentional. We’re intentionally making it easy on their first day; we have multitudes of events ready to ramp up the difficulty once the first wave is done."

"So you’re giving them a false sense of security?"

"They should get used to it."

The main observer laughed, amused by the explanation as he looked back down on the battlefield.

"Forget I said anything then."

*** South Wing Courtyard

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The entire south wing looked more like an actual war scenario than an examination.

Dozens of students had gathered in one spot with a single goal: to take out one of the high‑profile professors early in the examination.

They believed that by eliminating him first, he would be less of a nuisance once the other professors finally joined in.

But they were completely wrong.

[Typhoon]

Jean Crestwood, a terrifying beast of a mage and Vivianne’s older brother.

"I have to say... this is one terrible plan you’ve all created!"

Jean laughed, the sound muffled by the powerful tornado radiating from his body, completely nullifying any spell that reached his vicinity.

Even teleporting inside the tornado didn’t work.

One wrong spell formula calculation and it’ll shred you to pieces.

At least...

"Lady Vivianne!"

Bright shouted from the back lines as Vivianne—the leader of the entire student army—suddenly charged forward after seeing the whole front line get obliterated.

"L-Lady Vivianne!?"

"Wait, it’s too dangerous!"

The other students yelled out.

And it didn’t take long for Jean to see her sister charging straight at him with reckless abandon.

"V-Vivianne...?"

But Jean imdiately shook the thought off; they weren’t allowed to be biased over family mbers.

If Vivianne is charging straight at her, then he’s obliged to take her out.

"No hard feelings."

But before Jean could even cast his offensive spell, sothing strange distracted him.

Vivianne’s magic was... muffled, no... silent.

He couldn’t sense any magic coming from her.

"H-Huh...?"

But that was exactly what Vivianne had planned. She had poured all her effort into a single, subtle spell that only the most skilled professors could even notice.

And unfortunately, Jean didn’t make the cut.

"No hard feelings as well, brother!"

Vivianne was smiling widely. This was a scenario I had warned her about while training: if the enemy had a powerful defensive spell at the ready, focus only on one spot to penetrate through it.

If that fails, imdiately retreat.

But good thing the latter didn’t apply here.

[Air Severance]

It was thin, so thin in fact that it literally managed to penetrate through the defensive tornado and bypass it completely.

"C-Crap!"

SLASH!

An observer imdiately intervened and grabbed Jean before he could be cleaved in half.
