"How so?"
Confusion furrowed Hungry Monkey's brow as he said, "The more you talk, the more confused I get. What do you an by 'it's fine even if one never realizes they're in a dream'?"
"It sounds complicated, but it's actually quite simple," Elder Bai paused, glancing at Wang Haina who was eavesdropping with pricked ears nearby before he continued, "In essence, it can be understood that Hungry Monkey's mind is a bit too simple, entirely single-threaded."
"In such a case, he completely fails to realize he's in a dream, just as if he were in the real world."
"I just need to stay awake."
"Only a special thod is needed to wake him up."
"For instance... in the dream, create a Miao and then, in front of Hungry Monkey, torture and kill Miao. At the peak of his anguish, Hungry Monkey will awaken."
As his words fell.
Everyone nodded thoughtfully, except for Yuan Buping, who hesitated, "Shouldn't we first confirm that if Miao were tortured, Hungry Monkey would indeed enter a state of extre anguish?"
"What nonsense are you spouting!"
Hungry Monkey couldn't sit still any longer and stood up, shouting angrily, "What kind of person do you think I, Hungry Monkey, am in your eyes? Miao has been a great benefactor to ; I treat Miao as if he were my own parents reborn. Without Miao, I'd still be begging for food in that damned cetery!"
"Having to look at that damned security guard's face every ti I co and go!"
"I would definitely be in extre pain!"
"Well... I need to correct you on sothing; when you were going in and out of the cetery, I never gave you a second glance, let alone any sort of look. Don't make up such baseless tragic experiences for yourself," Elder Bai sighed before he continued, "Anyway, the problem is now solved. Hungry Monkey can enter the deepest level of the dream and wake up normally. But there's another problem, which is that people change."
"One year, two years, three years, people all change in different ways."
"Not to ntion 70 years."
"After 70 years, what a person's character becos is unpredictable, and by then the Hungry Monkey you et might be a completely different Hungry Monkey."
"Do they change?"
Yuan Buping hesitated, "Miao also lived in the deepest dreamscape for 70 years, and when he ca out, there was basically no change."
"There definitely are changes."
Elder Bai nodded with certainty, "Whether awake or unaware of being in a dream, people will change after 70 years. This includes Miao, who certainly has changed a bit too, just that the changes are so small they're imperceptible."
"Take for instance... Lord Miao."
"During those 70 years in the dream with Lord Miao, almost establishing a spousal relationship, what you wanted most after coming out was to find Lord Miao quickly. But... as ti passed, Miao, haven't you gradually lost that desire?"
"That's actually your two personalities clashing."
"Your personality from the 70 years tells you that you love Lord Miao deeply, that you've lived a long ti together."
"But when you co back to reality, your dominant personality tells you, you don't need any woman at all, and you don't really have such deep feelings for Lord Miao."
"And this conflict between the two personalities is also subtly affecting you, Miao."
"..."
Chen Miao remained silent in place, his expression calm; he had to admit that this was indeed the case. Once the Blue Star Civilization had successfully advanced for the first ti, he was able to add other civilization players as friends.
Including Lord Miao.
By then, Lord Miao had already contacted him.
He had even chatted with Lord Miao a bit, but... as he glanced at the chat panel with Lord Miao, it had been many days since he last replied to her ssages, while Lord Miao still sent him punctual ssages daily.
The content of the ssages was dry and dull.
Nothing more than so "Good morning," "Good night."
"What did you eat today?"
"What happened today? How's the weather? Any funny things you encountered?" and so on.
And occasionally, mixed in between, a "I miss you."
The most recent ssage congratulated the Blue Star Civilization for its successful promotion to a D-level civilization and said that his, Chen Miao's na, was now well-known, with many old civilizations, including the like of "Great Qin Civilization," having heard of him.
And yet... he had not replied to any of those ssages.
He didn't know how to face Lord Miao.
He admitted.
In the dreams of those 70 years, he and Lord Miao were very happy together, just like an ordinary office worker; returning ho to steaming als, and embracing Lord Miao who could sweep away his exhaustion.
But... when he left the dream, Lord Miao told him that she had been awake all along and had kept it a secret just to stay with him a little longer, asking him to forgive her selfishness.
When he first woke up, he felt pain and sorrow, just the thought of never seeing Lord Miao again caused him a heart-wrenching pain.
But...
As ti slowly passed.
He realized that his love for Lord Miao might be false, rely an illusion created over 70 years in the dream. He didn't truly love Lord Miao – at least she wasn't the wife he chose for himself, but was forced upon him in the dream.
Under such circumstances, he truly didn't know how to face Lord Miao.
Nor did he know what ssage to reply with.
In truth, he wished Lord Miao would reprimand him in the chat box, questioning why he didn't respond or simply stop sending ssages, so he could justifiably let go of this story. But Lord Miao didn't; she kept sharing her daily life day after day.
