This ant that if Lord Miao wasn't thoroughly appeased, the destructive power unleashed could not only annihilate the entire Zhenba City but also cause unimaginable harm to the entire Federation.
It was precisely because of this.
The Mayor of Fengtian City had spare no effort in making phone calls and had urgently assembled his troops and dispatched them directly. Once they arrived in Zhenba City, they were to follow Chen Miao and Zhou Shen's commands exclusively.
There was only one goal.
And that was to resolve Lord Miao's lingering regret.
If last ti he had tacitly allowed Chen Miao to turn Fengtian City upside down in the wee hours, this ti he was personally stepping in, causing an even bigger commotion and behaving more frantically than before.
Fortunately, he hadn't lost his reason; such a move to send troops to another city still needed to be reported to the Federal Governnt. The response from the authorities had been quick: at all costs, appease the soul of Lord Miao.
Clearly, the senior levels of the Federation were even more aware of the backlash that an unappeased Lord Miao, with such intense grievances, could inflict upon reality.
...
Beneath the calm facade of Fengtian City, countless undercurrents were raging beneath the surface.
"..."
Chen Miao was in the tomb sorting out the items on him. Now, his power was even greater than the last ti he entered the Hell Bus, but he still felt sowhat nervous—after all, this was Lord Miao.
Although being ranked first on the leaderboard didn't necessarily an one's strength was the foremost.
One could still say it represented the pinnacle of the Federation's power.
Such a being, turned into a lost soul, exerted imnse pressure on him, causing his hands to sweat involuntarily.
He hadn't gone to Zhenba City.
All he needed to do was to board any bus in ten hours.
He needed sleep; he hadn't slept well in the three days he'd spent in the secret realm. With an imminent journey into the more dangerous Hell Bus, he had to ensure he was well-rested to guarantee survival.
Soon.
Night fell.
Chen Miao climbed out of the coffin, gave a cursory glance at the countdown on the panel, and after a quick wash, he grabbed his hat from the table, placed it on his head, and with his cane in hand, walked out of the tomb chamber toward the exterior of the cetery.
However, as he was passing the security room.
Chen Miao suddenly noticed the forrly deserted security room occupied again by the little old man at his usual spot in front of the television, his eyes sowhat unfocused, gazing at the screen as if in a trance.
The old security guard, who had been absent for several days, had unexpectedly returned.
Chen Miao smiled and took out a cigarette from his pocket, sliding it through the window to him: "Long ti no see."
It was only after noticing the dry bloodstains on the old man's collar that his eyes narrowed slightly, and he probed, "It looks like you've had so trouble in the past few days?"
He had always known that the old man was a master.
After all, as a Supernatural who had been around for who knows how many years, he was residing in Fengtian City and yet managed to stay off Fengtian's leaderboards. The possession of any item capable of concealing information indicated profound resources.
As far as he knew, he had never seen an item that could hide one's presence from the leaderboards.
Generally speaking, only the dead are exempt from being listed.
He knew the man was a master, but how skilled remained unclear.
"Hmm."
The old man in the security room nodded vaguely: "I did get into so trouble. I was taken away by a train and played around for a few days. I just got back. It's not very peaceful outside recently, be careful when you're out."
```
```
"Thanks," Chen Miao said with a smile, nodded, and waved his hand as he walked out, expressing his gratitude to the old man for his concern.
But inwardly, he was puzzled.
What did it an to be taken away by a train and played with for a few days?
What train could co right up to the gates of the Eternal Cetery?
He seed to rember Zhou Shen ntioning, not long ago, sothing about a fixed event with the code number 217 called the Wilderness Cot, a deep blue train that road the wilderness and took people to completely random places.
On his way back from Broken Pot City, he had seen such a deep blue train at night, but at the ti, it did not stop in front of them.
Was the old man implying that his disappearance these past few days was due to being taken by this train, and he had just returned today?
...
Inside the security room.
After Chen Miao left, the security guard shifted his gaze from the television set flickering with black and white dots to Chen Miao's retreating figure, clearly sensing that the young man had not taken his advice to heart.
After a long silence,
he turned his attention back to the television, murmuring,
"Things really haven't been peaceful outside lately."
Stay tuned for updates on empire
"People are dying."
"Each death significantly increases my workload; is it really appropriate for an old man on the verge of retirent to work so hard every day?"
...
Stepping on the bus right on ti, Chen Miao boarded a bus devoid of passengers.
It was different from last ti.
Last ti, he had Hungry Monkey with him, and although that Hungry Monkey was not a real hungry monkey, at least there was soone to accompany him. This ti he was alone, the whole train was empty, just him alone.
Almost instantly, a strong sense of loneliness enveloped him.
Humans are social creatures, especially in tis of crisis and fear. No one wants to face danger alone; even the company of a frail woman or a child with little to no fighting ability can provide a semblance of reassurance.
At least there's companionship.
Like many guys who enjoy taking their girlfriends to watch horror movies, relishing in their girlfriends' comforting embraces during the intense, thrilling scenes.
The boys might seem brave, but if you put the sa boy in a dark, unfamiliar house alone to finish a horror movie, he'd probably scream no less than his girlfriend.
Though, to be precise, there was another person in the car: the unobtrusive driver.
This ti Chen Miao had already beco familiar with the drill and estimated that it wouldn't be long before the bus officially beca the Hell Bus, but he didn't regard that driver as human; the driver was clearly a ghost.
Just the kind that had to toil away every day, kind of sad really.
"Eh?"
However, just as Chen Miao was routinely checking the bus, he suddenly realized that the driver in the seat was an old acquaintance -- the very driver he had encountered on his previous trip to the Hell Bus. He had tried to communicate with the driver several tis last ti, but the driver had ignored him.
He didn't seem to possess high spiritual wisdom.
This ti, Chen Miao didn't plan to try again but as he was about to check out the back rows, the driver suddenly turned his head and looked at him, revealing a gentle yet sowhat strange smile: "I enjoyed our cooperation last ti; you're the best ticket collector I've ever t."
