82. Who Am I Really

These two unlucky souls had clearly been scamd. Their drunkenness had faded, and they stared blankly at the sky where the ships had already vanished.

"What exactly is going on here d?"

"My wife is still waiting for at ho. Now the ship is gone, how are we supposed to get back?"

Both looked like they wanted to cry but had no tears left. Tao Yao was equally speechless.

What else could be done? Cold salad!

"Your situation counts as an ergency. Stay at the Witch Academy for now, and I'll explain everything to your supervisors."

After saying this, Tao Yao ignored the two unlucky souls and pulled out a black box, collecting all the unconscious undercover witches from the ground.

ng Lian stood to the side, lips pressed tight, her gaze complicated.

She felt an impulse. She wanted to wake these undercover agents right now and ask them what exactly was going on.

But she couldn't. Even soone as slow as her had realized that she might be a very special existence.

After all, these undercover agents clearly knew each other. But she was like a fake undercover agent. No one knew about her, not even the undercover agents from the Alliance itself.

Haha, maybe I'm a hidden piece? Maybe I have to wait for an extrely special situation before I can be summoned?

ng Lian's small face was pale as she tried to think in an optimistic direction, refusing to let herself consider one terrible possibility.

That she had been abandoned.

"What's wrong? Not feeling well?"

Tao Yao caught sight of ng Lian's condition and asked with concern.

"Mm..."

ng Lian felt her mind was in chaos. She had no idea what she should do next. Facing Tao Yao's concern, she just gave a vague response.

Tao Yao and Ye exchanged a glance. Ye shrugged, indicating that she had brought the girl here, so she was responsible.

"How about I take you back first?"

"No need, I'm fine. I can go back by myself."

ng Lian knew that if she stayed any longer, she would definitely slip up. She forced a strained smile, then walked alone toward a nearby public teleportation anchor.

"Sigh, she's a new student after all. She looks like she was scared."

Ye sighed, her tone helpless. The thought of undercover agents never even crossed her mind.

There was sothing ng Lian didn't know. Since her na wasn't on any list, the Witch Academy had long assud she was a properly raised young witch. As for being an undercover agent, no one had that much free ti to imagine sothing so ridiculous.

"We definitely scared her earlier. I told you to be more gentle. Look, you frightened the underclassman."

Tao Yao and Ye had used rather intense thods when capturing the undercover agents. They might have been just a tiny bit aggressive. Anyone with poor ntal fortitude could easily get scared.

"Like you were so gentle yourself."

Ye looked at her with disdain, then asked Tao Yao, "By the way, what are the Dean and the others doing now? Also, my big sister said she went on a top-secret mission. I wonder how that's going."

"No idea. Who knows where the Dean is fooling around. With her personality, she should be heartbroken for a while after letting so fish escape. Why is it so quiet tonight? Did she jerk off too much?"

Tao Yao was equally puzzled.

Achoo!

Anmir and Yan, still cosplaying as caterpillars, sneezed at the sa ti. They accidentally pulled their buttock muscles and instantly grimaced in pain.

"Ow ow ow, Dean, how long do we have to lie here like this?"

"How should I know!"

……

"ng Lian? You're back so late? Are you okay?"

When she returned to her dorm door, she found Gabriel just finishing her part-ti job. Gabriel's eyes lit up when she saw ng Lian, but seeing the other's distracted state, she froze for a mont.

"I'm fine, I just bumped into sothing earlier. It hurts a little, that's all."

ng Lian forced a smile. Gabriel wanted to say sothing, but seeing ng Lian like this, she swallowed the words that had reached her lips.

"Then I'll go inside first. Goodnight."

"Goodnight..."

Gabriel stared at the closed door of room 404, a flash of heartache in her eyes.

She didn't know what had happened to ng Lian, but seeing the other girl in such obvious distress, her own heart began to ache as well.

Inside room 404, everything was dark. ng Lian closed the door without turning on the lights. She leaned her back against the door, slid weakly to the ground, wrapped her arms around her thighs, and curled up in the corner.

Why?

Why?

Why isn't my na on the list?

During the arrest of the undercover agents, ng Lian had watched from the side as Tao Yao and Ye each held a list. She couldn't help asking about it, and they told her it was the list of undercover agents.

"Don't worry, your na isn't on the list."

Tao Yao's words kept ringing in her ears. In the dark corner, ng Lian suddenly felt a boundless, endless loneliness.

Her na wasn't on the list. That ant she wasn't an undercover agent for the Alliance.

But she rembered clearly, she WAS an undercover agent for the Alliance, wasn't she?

Why?

ng Lian felt dazed. Her thoughts drifted back to that afternoon.

"Undercover? ?"

That afternoon, ng Lian was watching various channel curves on her screen out of boredom, just like any other day. But her supervisor suddenly called her into his office, saying there was a piece of top-secret intelligence.

"Of course. After our observation, you're very suitable for undercover work."

Her supervisor was a bald fat man. The fat man gave her so information about witches, then had her board a garbage ship to leave the Alliance and carry out her undercover mission.

At the ti, she had her doubts. She asked the supervisor, "What about my contact person? After I enter Witch Academy, how do I get in touch with you?"

"You'll find out later."

The supervisor was very perfunctory, but at the ti, she hadn't sensed anything wrong at all.

Thinking back now, she had been incredibly naive. No contact person, no training, no secret codes or anything. She was like a piece of unwanted garbage, leaving the Milky Way aboard the Alliance's garbage ship to arrive at the Witch Academy.

Who am I really?

The panic in her heart was like a man-eating beast, little by little devouring ng Lian's reason.

That terrible guess kept appearing in her mind. Although ng Lian denied it again and again, now all the clues seed to point to one possibility.

She had been abandoned.

ng Lian curled into a ball, as if only this could ease the panic in her heart.

This was the panic of having no kind, the bewildernt of a sheep that had accidentally fallen into a pack of wolves.

Xiao Zi, what should I do?

ng Lian thought of her younger sister, thought of what she had said to her before she left.

"I'll always wait for you to co ho, stupid big brother!"

But... it seems like I don't have a ho anymore...

ng Lian felt her mind drifting. A ringing filled her ears, and everything around her seed very noisy.

Knock knock...

When ng Lian ca back to her senses, she discovered soone was knocking on the dorm door. ng Lian struggled to her feet and opened it to find Gabriel.

"ng Lian, this might help with the pain from your bump..."

Gabriel held a tube of ointnt, her heart aching at the sight of ng Lian's frail condition.

"ng Lian, I..."

Gabriel wanted to say more, but a fragrant breeze with the scent of citrus suddenly washed over her. Gabriel felt sothing soft press against her.

"Thank you..."
