22. Student Council
The place Modu asked ng Lian to et was the usual spot, that coffee shop.
But when ng Lian arrived, she discovered that Modu had been waiting for quite so ti. Standing beside her was a purple-haired girl in a black-and-white short-skirt uniform.
The girl wore an armband reading "Student Council" and was currently arguing heatedly with Modu.
What was going on?
ng Lian was quite puzzled, because the purple-haired girl looked emotionally agitated, wearing an expression of grievance, like a wife whose husband had cheated on her.
ng Lian stepped closer and caught their conversation. Just one sentence nearly made her lose her composure.
"Modu! You said you liked married won, so I specially found a girlfriend, but how could you sleep with my girlfriend? Would you rather sleep with her than consider ?"
Oh my. Senior Sister plays that wild?
Modu's expression had been unchanged, even leisurely sipping coffee, but when she caught sight of ng Lian's figure, a rare flicker of panic flashed through her eyes.
She furrowed her brows, her tone sowhat impatient. "Lei Ying, there's nothing to say between us. Aren't you the Student Council Vice President? How are you so free? How do you have ti to co here and spout all this nonsense?"
"You!"
The girl nad Lei Ying was so angry she laughed.
"Fine, fine, fine. Modu, I see you clearly now. Watch yourself!"
With that, Lei Ying turned and stord off.
As she passed ng Lian, Lei Ying glanced at her. Seeing that ng Lian seed to be there for Modu, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes again.
Another one?
And why was this one so beautiful?
Modu, just you wait!
She shot a fierce glare at ng Lian before leaving, her face full of grievance.
Seed like a misunderstanding...
Dragged into a strange drama for no reason, ng Lian felt rather speechless.
She was just passing by!
"Senior Sister, sorry. I got delayed on the way."
"No problem. I just arrived myself."
Modu's expression was perfectly normal, as if what had just happened was rely a hallucination.
"Senior Sister, who was that just now?"
That girl wasn't exactly invisible. ng Lian couldn't just ignore her.
Hearing this, Modu coughed, a guilty look flickering in her eyes.
"Ahem. That was the Student Council Vice President, Lei Ying. We... have so misunderstandings between us."
Oh~ Misunderstandings, huh...
Do I look like I believe that?
ng Lian sighed internally. Modu was clearly treating her like a child to be placated.
It seed Senior Sister Modu had quite a few romantic entanglents, but those had nothing to do with her.
At this mont, ng Lian noticed a term Modu had just ntioned.
"Student Council? What is that?"
ng Lian rembered that Anmir had ntioned Chen Li was also a Student Council cadre. Anything connected to Chen Li demanded ng Lian's attention.
After all, she was worrying about how to make contact with Chen Li.
"The Student Council... well, it's a bit complicated to explain. Simply put, you can think of it as the official organization of the Witch Academy."
Modu's expression turned complicated when she ntioned the Student Council.
She was, after all, an old friend of the Student Council, in every sense of the term.
Official organization?
Hearing this, ng Lian's heart stirred.
"The Witch Academy is massive. This entire planet is the Witch Academy. Teachers alone can't manage everything, so the Academy established the Student Council, granting them certain powers to let students manage students."
"As for what the Student Council does... well, organizing academy events, maintaining campus security, catching those who violate school rules. Of course, sotis the Student Council also acts as an enforcent agency, arresting people with impure intentions."
"For example, that undercover witch from this morning."
What!
Hearing this, ng Lian was shocked.
Chen Li had been arrested by the Student Council!
ng Lian hadn't expected such an unexpected surprise from this trip.
"Haha, don't be so surprised. Arresting spies, interrogating spies, imprisoning spies... that's always been the Student Council's duty. Any senior student knows that."
Seeing ng Lian's reaction, Modu didn't think much of it, assuming it was just the shock of learning sothing new.
Imprisoning spies...
ng Lian pressed her lips together. She felt fortunate to have co to see Modu. Her Senior Sister had given her too many surprises.
Just monts ago, she had been worrying about how to contact Chen Li, and now she had the answer.
The Student Council. She would have to find a way to join the Student Council. Only then would she have a chance to get close to Chen Li.
"What, does my Junior Sister want to join the Student Council?"
One look at ng Lian's expression and Modu knew what she was thinking. She wasn't surprised. Plenty of people wanted to join the Student Council. It wasn't strange for ng Lian to have this idea.
"Mhm. The Student Council has so much power. I do have that thought."
Hearing Modu voice her inner thoughts, ng Lian panicked for a mont but quickly composed herself.
Joining the Student Council wasn't anything shaful. If she panicked first, it would only make her look suspicious.
"Joining the Student Council is nice, but..."
But ng Lian was from the Illusion Academy.
The Illusion Academy had always been a key target of Student Council scrutiny. If they found out ng Lian was from the Illusion Academy, she would probably face stricter assessnts than others.
However, Modu didn't ntion this to ng Lian. She had only just found a Junior Sister, and Tao Zhuo hadn't found another freshman who could see the Shadow of the Mirage Dragon in days. If she scared away her one and only Junior Sister, she would cry her eyes out.
Seeing the confusion in ng Lian's eyes, Modu didn't explain further. She just offered a reminder. "If my Junior Sister wants to join the Student Council, that's fine. You can start preparing now. If I rember correctly, Student Council recruitnt is in just one month."
That soon?
Hearing this, ng Lian was startled. Only one month. What could she do?
"Junior Sister, you might want to try running for Class Monitor first. Although freshn don't have an advantage in Student Council recruitnt, if you're the Class Monitor, having that leadership experience should help a little."
Modu shrugged. "I don't really know how else to help you. After all, there don't seem to be any Student Council mbers in our Illusion Academy."
That was certainly true. With the Illusion Academy's reputation, it would be a miracle if anyone got into the Student Council.
So Modu didn't have high hopes for ng Lian. If ng Lian actually made it into the Student Council, it really would be sothing extraordinary.
But ng Lian didn't know any of this. She expressed her gratitude with sincere earnestness.
"Senior Sister, you've already helped so much. Thank you."
She really had helped a lot. She had practically pointed out a clear path for ng Lian.
Earlier, when Bai Wei had asked ng Lian to take the Class Monitor position, she had been sowhat reluctant, thinking it was a thankless job. But after what Modu said, ng Lian suddenly found the position of Class Monitor quite appealing.
Who said being Class Monitor was bad? It was practically perfect.
She would have to tell Bai Wei as soon as she got back. She just hoped Bai Wei hadn't given the position to anyone else.
"It's nothing. You'll learn all this eventually. I just told you a bit earlier, that's all."
Modu shook her head, then turned to the main topic.
"Here. These are your clothes. Go back and try them on to see if they fit."
