Chapter 3: Did Manager Lin Move in with the CEO?
Not long after Lin Tian left, soone knocked on the CEO’s office door.
A short-haired woman wearing a mask entered, silently handed a docunt to Shang Chan, and then left without a word.
Shang Chan opened the file. Inside was a detailed analysis of the real estate investnt plan, along with a dossier on Jiang Yifeng.
Tracing the investnt plan through four layers of connections, she finally found Ice Eye’s involvent. A company secretly founded by one of Bai Bing’er’s closest confidants had indirectly participated in drafting the proposal.
At the sa ti, Ice Eye Group’s presence also appeared in several other ongoing investnts of Xinghai Group.
“Lin Tian was right. This really is a trap set by Ice Eye for Xinghai…” She murmured.
Shang Chan had secured control of Xinghai Group not through family connections, but through sheer business acun.
This was also why, later in the original story, she beca the leading businesswoman behind Jiang Yifeng’s corporate empire.
With just a quick glance, Shang Chan grasped how ruthless this real estate investnt sche truly was. If Xinghai fell into the trap, it would face a financial collapse, bank liquidation, and might even drag the Zhao family down with it.
At that point, even a re million yuan could be the final straw that broke Xinghai.
“Ice Eye… Bai Bing’er…”
A chilling light flickered in Shang Chan’s eyes. She then picked up Jiang Yifeng’s dossier.
“So he’s the hidden hand behind Fengchen Group? And tomorrow, he’s heading to the Zhao family?”
Shang Chan studied the file, deep in thought.
According to the docunts, Jiang Yifeng was the major shareholder behind the publicly listed Fengchen Group. Though the shares had been transferred to him through adoption, the amount of influence he wielded was undeniable.
From an asset perspective alone, Fengchen Group was even larger than Xinghai Group.
But why would Ice Eye target Xinghai? There’s no direct conflict of interest between the two companies… Does this have sothing to do with Jiang Yifeng?
Shang Chan recalled Lin Tian’s inner thoughts.
【…Such a pity, a stunning beauty like her, only to end up as part of Jiang Yifeng’s harem!】
Harem? Then, Bai Bing’er… are you one of Jiang Yifeng’s won too?
Shang Chan’s expression remained indifferent, but a flicker of ridicule and disdain surfaced in her eyes, laced with an icy chill.
Her entire life, she had never relied on a man.
Let alone share one with others.
Now that she knew about this, even if it cost her life, she would never lower herself to Jiang Yifeng.
After silently contemplating for over half an hour, Shang Chan acted swiftly.
She imdiately summoned her subordinates, issuing a decisive order to halt the real estate investnt plan. All related funds were frozen on the spot, and the responsible personnel were handed over to the disciplinary committee for a full investigation.
At the sa ti, several other investnt projects were also put under imdiate review.
One after another, Shang Chan issued commands, her voice unwavering. The executives standing before her—each of them high-ranking leaders—were already drenched in cold sweat.
At this mont, Shang Chan was no longer just the CEO of Xinghai. She was a ruthless machine of corporate warfare, crushing any opponent who dared stand in her way.
It took a full hour just to list out the issues that needed to be addressed.
And this storm… would clearly rage on for a long, long ti.
Four hours later, Shang Chan finally sat back down at her desk, a trace of exhaustion between her brows.
The intense ntal effort required to analyze and deconstruct complex business strategies had taken its toll. Even for a business genius like her, there was only so much her stamina could handle.
Then—
“Gurgle—”
A faint sound echoed in the quiet office.
Shang Chan froze.
Only then did she realize…
From the mont Lin Tian had handed in his resignation that morning until now, she hadn’t eaten a single bite. She had been so absorbed in work that she had completely forgotten about lunch.
Seeing that it was already four or five in the afternoon, Shang Chan thought for a mont before changing into a pure white suit.
Black and white—those were her favorite colors.
“Xiaoyun, prepare the car. We’re going to Chenghai Community.”
She gave a simple order to her secretary, then glanced at the information she held on Lin Tian.
On the way out, a barely noticeable smile tugged at her lips.
“Who says a ‘small nobody’ can’t have blocking his door?”
…
At the sa ti.
Chenghai Community, Building 7, Unit 3, Apartnt 2302.
Lin Tian was sprawled comfortably on the sofa, watching a livestream while eating waterlon.
On the table beside him sat a fresh haul of groceries he had just bought.
Today was his first day after transmigrating—of course, he had to reward himself properly!
In his past life, Lin Tian had never been too particular about clothing, housing, or appearances.
But when it ca to food…
He was a master-level chef!
Years of living alone had honed Lin Tian’s exceptional cooking skills.
He firmly believed that his dishes were the second-best in the world—the best being his mother’s.
After swallowing another refreshing bite of waterlon, Lin Tian wiped his hands, his eyes shining with satisfaction.
“Finally escaped that chaotic ss… As long as I lay low, the system will definitely reward with so good stuff. Getting rich and reaching the peak of life? That’s just a matter of ti.”
Humming a little tune, he tossed all his clothes into the washing machine and, dressed in just a pair of shorts, began preparing his al.
His knife skills were flawless, his focus unwavering.
If anyone saw him at that mont, they’d probably mistake him for a top-tier chef!
Just as Lin Tian finished preparing ingredients for three or four dishes and was about to start cooking—
Outside Chenghai Community.
A wine-red Porsche slowly pulled in and ca to a stop beneath Building 7.
Inside the car, Xiaoyun, the secretary, hesitated for a mont before softly asking—
“President… whose house are we going to?”
Sitting in the back seat, Shang Chan remained expressionless and replied calmly.
“Manager Lin’s ho.”
“Manager Lin Tian?”
Xiaoyun’s jaw nearly dropped. As Shang Chan’s secretary, she knew better than anyone what kind of person her boss was.
Shang Chan.
When had she ever visited another man’s house?!
“President, d-do you need to go up with you?” Xiaoyun’s voice trembled slightly.
Shang Chan shook her head, her tone cool as ever.
“No need. I have personal business with Manager Lin. Wait for downstairs.”
“Understood.”
Xiaoyun shrank her neck, a chill running down her spine—she felt like she had just stumbled upon a top-secret event.
The kind where if she knew too much… she’d have to be silenced.
She suddenly recalled how, earlier that morning, Lin Tian had walked out of the president’s office with a bright smile, then cheerfully packed up his things and headed ho.
Could it be… Manager Lin Tian and the President are already together?
This morning… the President sent him ho to clean up her place?
Are they… moving in together?!
Xiaoyun’s mind had already spun a full-blown romance drama.
anwhile, Shang Chan paid her no mind. She simply took out the gift she had prepared and gracefully stepped into the elevator of Building Seven, pressing the button for the 23rd floor.
…
Not long after.
Lin Tian, who was carefully plating prawns, suddenly heard a knock at the door.
“Must be a delivery.”
Thinking nothing of it, he wiped his hands and went to open the door.
The next mont, standing at his doorstep was Shang Chan—dressed in an immaculate white suit, her face as stunning as ever.
“Presi—President Shang?!” Lin Tian was utterly baffled.
Then, he saw sothing unexpected—
Shang Chan’s pupils shook violently as if hit by an earthquake, and a faint blush instantly spread across her flawless face.
“You… why aren’t you wearing clothes?!”
Her voice was still cool, but an undeniable hint of panic and urgency slipped through.
Lin Tian looked down—
And instantly froze.
Damn it.
He had been living alone for so long, tossed all his clothes into the washing machine, and never even considered the possibility of unexpected visitors.
