Chapter 119

The Alliance and The Church Join Forces

Lore sat quietly in his study.

Only the desk lamp before him was lit, illuminating just half of his face.

“Things seem to have exceeded our expectations. He wasn’t like this before,” Lore said, his voice calm, as if stating the most normal thing in the world.

After a mont of silence in the study, a hoarse voice sounded from behind him.

“Isn’t that your son? To think even you could misjudge soone.”

The other party chuckled lightly, seemingly mocking Lore for being unable to control even his own son.

Lore didn’t get angry. Instead, he replied calmly, “His current strength is considerable. Even among the freshn at Saint Nad Magic Academy, he ranks among the best. With just that status alone, making him fall into despair seems rather impossible.”

After hearing about the battle between Henry and Luning, and then learning that Henry had killed many capable cultists, the most crucial point was that he actually managed to defeat Queen Eliana!

No matter what thods he used, the result was that a high-level magician was defeated by soone without any magical talent.

That in itself was an absurdity.

“Lore, I don’t care how you do it, but you promised us you would make him despair.”

“Speaking of that, haven’t you failed to deliver as well? The strength you’ve displayed so far makes sowhat worried, after all, so many diocre people have infiltrated your ranks.”

A cold smile curled on Lore’s lips, completely different from his previously composed expression. Very few knew he had this side.

Their words were laced with barbs, each seemingly blaming the other for the situation.

But soon, they fell silent.

“The Alliance has been investigating very strictly lately. If you plan to act, be careful. If you hadn’t encountered a fool like Joseph, you wouldn’t have had the chance to sacrifice an entire city.”

“Of course, we express our highest respect for Mr. Joseph’s generosity, and also regret his death. If he hadn’t died, perhaps we could have devoured the entire Empire.”

“Hah, you think too highly of yourselves. According to news from others in the family, the Alliance and The Church have now decided to join forces to sweep through your ranks.”

“No need to worry about that. We have our own thods.”

As they were speaking, a sudden knock ca from the door.

Sidney’s voice sounded from outside.

“Family Head, I have important matters to report.”

Lore waved his hand. The person behind him seed to vanish into the darkness. Simultaneously, his face returned to its initial calm.

“Enter.”

Sidney pushed the door open and entered, followed by a wounded Luning.

Compared to last ti, his injuries were relatively better.

“Hmm? Luning, how are you injured again? Did sothing happen?”

ntioning this, Sidney glared angrily at Luning, while Luning remained silent, head bowed, not saying a word.

Clearly, he knew he had done sothing foolish.

But facing the Family Head, he couldn’t bring himself to ask for forgiveness.

His very existence was ant to prove that the family’s initial choice was not wrong.

And now he was being thoroughly suppressed by Henry.

Didn’t this an the family’s original choice was mistaken?

Sidney briefly reported the events, also explaining Henry’s current situation.

Listening to Sidney’s report, Lore seed to realize Henry had grown even stronger since the last ti.

Clearly possessing no magical talent, yet he had this strange ability to control blades.

Furthermore, from Sidney’s description, it seed there was an energy within him, capable of manifesting into physical form.

If it were just using energy, Lore could understand.

But if it could materialize, that was a significant problem!

“Hmm… Regarding this matter, Luning, you were indeed too hasty. Can you tell , what were you so anxious about?”

A gentle smile appeared on Lore’s face.

Sidney was surprised that the Family Head wasn’t criticizing Luning, but was instead comforting him.

Luning abruptly raised his head, his face full of guilt.

“Family Head, I want to prove to everyone that your choice back then was not a mistake! Especially to Henry! I don’t want to be trampled under his feet!”

“Then you should focus more on improving yourself steadily. Accepting the current reality isn’t a bad thing. Henry has truly surprised all of us, hasn’t he?”

Lore didn’t show any trace of urgency.

This only made Luning feel more guilty.

Even though the Family Head had given him ample ti and the utmost tolerance.

Yet he still couldn’t asure up.

Was he really the waste Henry claid he was?

Luning began to fall into deep self-doubt.

Sidney, standing to the side, saw the situation clearly.

He believed Henry’s advantage lay in his strange offensive thods, even being able to attack without chanting.

Luning had consistently failed to notice this problem.

In his heart, he still saw Henry as the useless trash who let himself be bullied, not acknowledging Henry’s current strength.

The Family Head Lore, however, had pinpointed the entire issue with just one sentence.

Luning’s talent wasn’t bad. If he continued to grow, he might truly beco the heir to the Rulter Family.

But as he was now, he was clearly not qualified.

“Family Head, is there any way for to beco stronger? I don’t want to keep being trampled under Henry’s feet!”

Luning’s eyes were red, his gaze filled with madness.

To beco stronger, he was willing to pay any price.

Hearing Luning’s words, Lore narrowed his eyes slightly, a faint smile curling on his lips.

“Luning, there are many paths to power. If you wish to beco stronger, you must endure more pain than others.”

“I am willing! As long as you give this opportunity, Family Head!”

At this mont, Luning completely saw Lore as his savior.

Soone who constantly accepted him and could make him stronger – why shouldn’t he follow such a person with his very life?

“Once you start, there’s no turning back. I advise you to consider carefully.”

“Family Head, I believe in you! And I believe in myself!”

Luning’s tone was resolute, his eyes filled with determination.

Hearing this, Lore looked at Sidney, signaling for him to leave.

Sidney silently withdrew.

But as he looked at the tightly closed door, he fell into silence for a mont.

He knew the Rulter Family had many powerful, secret magics, but he hadn’t expected Lore to value Luning so highly.

Was Luning’s talent really that formidable?

Sidney thought it was acceptable, but not to such an astounding degree.

However, since it was the Family Head’s decision, as a house retainer, he had no right to interfere.

For now, he could only hope that Luning would truly beco stronger and reclaim his dignity from Henry’s grasp.
